View Full Version : Floral Centerpiece Ideas Wanted
Hello Ladies,
I am actually asking for a friend right now. You guys are pretty resourceful, can anyone recommend web sites for centerpiece ideas for a wedding. My friend is making them herself and is including fresh flowers in the centerpieces.. Any help would be great. Thanks a million. :detective:

Here is an easy idea using fresh flowers ...
http://www.jrroses.com/weddingflower3.1.html
You could spruse it up by adding some ribbon or rose petals on the tables.
Another easy idea is just to use rose petals and tea light candles on the tables.

Hey Web Lady,
Thanks for the tip......something so simple as the pic I found, can be so elegant, especially by adding rose petals around the table and votives or tea lights! :p .....I love this! I just hope my friend does also. And I am thinking if we can buy the flowers wholesale, then it will cost virtually nothing....My kind of price....CHEAP!:ura1:

Centerpieces kind of depend on the table. I have always wanted round tables, but we would have to rent tables to get round tables and cut down our guest list, so long tables it is. I am going very simple with long stem glasses with floating candles in them and rose petals. I think it should be pretty and it was very inexpensive!
I wasn't sure if I was going to make something myself or have the florist arrange somehting, however when I discussed ideas she said mine was best. I plan on potting flowers myself (pansies are my favorite) and want to include some perrenials so that we have a Wedding garden that comes up every year. My florist gave us a suggestions that we thought was great. She's providing us with low round baskets with a plastic liner that whe will cover with moss. So I can still do my own flowers but have a "moss bowl" to plant them in.

Here is what we are using. It is just a wooden box covered in black velvet then filled with white flowers. We are putting votives around it.

We have long tables too, so we are having 2 on each table with the rose petals. And most of the stuff came from the Dollar Store ;)
Hey Ladies,
Thanks for all of the great sugesstions and pics. I really like the basket (wrapped in velvet) and using white flowers. They are ALL pretty. I will show them to my friend and see what she says. I will definitely also check out the web sites you left for more ideas.
Thanks a lot for all of your help! :bblol:

Whats quite trendy over in the UK right now is, goldfish bowl vases with the flowers wrapped around the inside of the bowl rather than sticking out of the top. I especially love calla lillies. To make the stems curl round the inside of the bowl you have to strip away layers of the stem one by one and the stem begins to curl.

for my own wedding I used ivy vines that I cliped myself from a nearby shopping malls landscape...I know...I know!!! But the florist I used told me I could, it was behind her shop. I wash and wrapped the vines in a circle for my round tables and layed them out on the long tables. I also placed a little baby's breath into the vines. It was simple and classy. And CHEAP! My wedding was in the winter so I didn't get to put rose petals on the tables...but with the favors and cookies I had out ...I think it would have been too much. I just wanted to share my $$$ saving experience.
Best Wishes!!!

Hey Im late, but another easy ide that looks fantastic is buying four small glass containers. You fill each one with a "mini centerpiece." At a wedding I went to, the bride filled two containers with hydrangeas, one with red roses and one with white. It doesnt take many flowers and its super simple. After each is done, you push them together and looks like one big centerpiece. if you want to sprinkle flower petals around or use candles, you can do that too.

I love using the HGTV website when I can, cause it will explain things to you and how to do it, or what's used and you can get a better idea.

Found a pic of what I was trying to describe. We considered this but decided to go with the frame idea instead because they can double as wedding favors eliminating that need.

This is a side view of the same centerpiece.

My friend who is getting married in New Hampshire is considering this idea. The hydrangeas would be blue of course and the roses white and pale lavender.

http://lanielizabeth.com/images/gallery/weddings/lanielizabeth_w_062704_05.jpgThis is another simple idea- since we planned to DIY our centerpieced from the getgo, we looked for basic ideas-alot of "fluffy" looks that seemed elaborate but were not difficultto make. I love the idea of the galvanized tin bucket or watering can for a garden theme wedding.
This is a variation of something I saw at someone else's wedding last year. They used hydrangeas and white roses and they covered the box in this pretty sheer silver fabric. They scattered white rose petals and votives around the centerpiece too.

Wow you guys have alot of ideas!! I love that box idea it is making me rethink the center peice I have. This is what I have put together i find it looks plain. I want a simple look. My colours are pale pink lavender and platinum silver. So in this vase I put white rocks in a square vase I have 6 lavender roses and a few small white roses. I tied a silver ribon around the vase and was going to put votives around it 4 one on each side.. thoughts... I was thinking of getting those LED water activated lights and have them in it to jazz it up.. ideas anyone...

hey, that do it your self wedding flower website is amazing, probably definately putting florists out of buisness!
One thing to think of is if you are having long tables not round tables is to have table centres. Either 2 small round ones or 2 square vases.
Candeles and petals are alwyas a great idea. Dendronium ordhids, also known as singapore orchids are lso fantastic floating.
You would need only 1 or 2 stems per arrangement and some floating candles. They come in speactacular coulours as well.
Go to a $2 shop and find some small vases or troffs. UIt's easy, effective and cheap. Guests can just take them at the end of the night.
Good luck!!

Inexpensive and effective are mirrors under the centerpieces. When you add glass votives - you get double the glow! They can be purchased inexpensively at a Home Depot or Lowes in packages of a dozen.
A bubble glass bowl with the flower gel cubed and a single open rose looks outstanding! Put that on top of your mirror with the votives and you are all set. That gel works wonders - seen it keep flowers fresh for one week!
