Since I paint and we have postponed the wedding, I've decided I want to paint the invites and programs.

Problem, after the initial design is done, copying them will lose a lot of the color and detail.

I also will do all the calligraphy.

Does anyone know where I can get them printed without losing any detail or color, somewhere that won't cost a fortune?

I will use watercolor to do them.

Are you looking to get it printed on water colour paper? If not, any place that has a half decent digital laser printer should be able to do it.

What is your plan for the original? Are you going to paint the design, and do the calligraphy on the same paper?

If it makes it easier for you to paint, you can do it larger (keep the proportions though) and they could reduce it to print.

Lovely way to personalized your invites etc.

I am very excited to see a finished copy of these invites. That is a great idea.

I will paint it to size, then do all the calligraphy, and have ONE original ready for copying

I have a favorite picture of our favorite camping spot, on the lake that I will use as an idea.

Call some printers in your area to ask about digital laser. They can show you paper samples and advise you re: the best to use. Don't discount the quick copy places too. Either way, ask to see a proof of your invite, before they print the lot.

I had prints of some of my sisters paintings done @ staples (because I really liked her paintings but wanted to get them sized down) and they turned out perfect. They weren't water colours though...just regualr paint, I don't know what its called...not oil either....but ya, Staples was very resonable and turned out perfect for me.:panda:

I will email my cousin. His girlfriend is a painter and she painted some historical buildings in our town then had them made into post cards that she sells in town. I think she got them printed locally but I will get the name of the place and it can be a start for you.

Do you think you could get a really good scan of it? You could get press printed cards made of it.

I came up with something new

while at the mall the other day, I went into a craft store and found blank invites with envelopes

they are the thick parchment paper, already have the 'fold' in them, and have the torn/tattered edge, which is colored orange

I bought 2 packs, with 50 in each

they were $8.69 each

plan is to paint each and every one, and do the calligraphy

I have lots of time, and with getting my tonsils out next week, I wil have something to do while I recooperate
