You don't have to list the price, but just curious how many know how much their ring cost? I don't know how much mine cost, but I had to get the information so I can get insurance on the ring. My fh gave me the papers, I have yet to look at them and not sure I really want to. All I need to do is take it to the insurance agent. I will end up knowing a ball park figure after I know how much I need to pay for insurance.

I kinda want to know but on the other hand I don't. If you don't know already do you want to know?

I'm not allowed to know the actual price until after he has paid it off. But I know A LOT of information about diamonds, so I have a ball park figure. :) Let's just say it was more than I ever expected...

I don't know and I don't want to know. Everytime we're at the jewelers and they ask him the value of the ring I stick my fingers in my ears and hum...lol :D I know it wasn't crazy expensive as there aren't any diamonds on it (by my request), but he did have to have it custom made, so I'm sure that bumped up the price a good bit. The monetary value really doesn't matter to me - its sentimental value makes it priceless to me :)

Well, the diamond was free because it was from my mom's engagement ring. But we are having rubies added and the setting redone, and I know how much that is because I've been in all the design meetings, heh. But I am getting the completed ring tomorrow, and he is giving us a free appraisal as well, so I'll also know the exact value.

I didn't really want an engagement ring but we happened upon a great deal on my ring (when we were out looking at wedding bands) so ..... :) we had to snag it. Yes, I know how much it costs.

yes i know. I only know because he paid in cash and when i saw the statement (his money but i was balancing for him and he forgot) i was like ummmm why did you take THIS much out of the bank and he said oh i had to buy something and i said "better have been a brand new car then" i was not happy about the money he had "taken out" and finally he didnt want me upset or anything cuz of it and when i got my appraisal back he said "now do you know where that money went??" and i was like OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH hahaha --- plus he cant keep a secret.. he originally thought engagement rings cost 15k so he thought he got a "deal" haha

I know a ball park figure; my ring was my husbands great great great grandmothers, and her husband designed it. When I first saw it, I told him it was too big and that I couldn't possibly wear it, then he told me it was pretty old(over 100 years now) and I about ripped his fingers off trying to get it back. If I could afford them; my whole house would be done in antquie things.

My ring is a circle in shape and has seven very small diamonds, story has it that he was a car salesman back in the day, and if you sold so many cars you got a diamond stickpin. He took the seven stickpins had them take the diamonds out and melt the stickpins into the ring and then set the diamonds in it.

^^ That sounds like a gorgeous ring! Do post a photo if you can!

I helped pick out my ring...so yes, I know the cost. Being that I'm not a fan of diamonds, I chose a garnet heart as the center stone (it's his birthstone and one of my favorite gems), and it's flanked by two tiny diamonds on each side. The best part was that this ring was on sale for 65% off. :)

I also know how much mine cost, because I handled the insurance-portion. I don't mind knowing and very happy with what he spent AND what I got!

I'll see if I can find any pictures of it or I'll take some and post them. I always thought my engagment ring would be an Opal, since that is my birthstone and I never really cared that much for diamonds. I stopped wearing my engament ring; due to a stone coming loose and we would never be able to afford to replace it, so now I only wear it for special Ocassions. I also wear my engagment ring first and then my wedding ring; I due this to make sure the engagment ring, will never come off as well as it came first.

I know how much it cost because I was with him when he bought it. I found the setting online, but I got to pick the diamond that went in the middle. I love my ring and I don't care that I know. If it had been cheaper or more expensive I would have been just as happy with it.

He did get me an opal necklace for Christmas though :D

Hehheee.. I was there when we bought it... and I know exactly how much mine cost. We had another one picked out, but ended up going with the first one we liked when we walked in the door. Our 5th anniversary he's going to get me the other one we had picked out. :D Mine is very unique... and now we're trying to find a band for it... not an easy task!

I have not a clue, and Steve refuses to tell me. :) Its def not that expensive (compared to most rings i have heard about..) But it is the thought that counts. I love it because he gave it to me. *^^*

I did not know that; the opal ring that I have, he got for our first anniversary and I used to wear it all the time. I stopped wearing it about the same time I did my engagenmet ring, because I was afraid it would come loose too.

Opals are considered a soft stone and can break quite easily - especially in quick/extreme temperature changes. I'm pretty careless with my hands - knocking them into things all the time...so I'm sure I would've broken it 10 times by now if it had been an opal...lol.

Yes, I do know how much he paid. But for insurance purposes you want to insure the replacement cost, which is usually higher than what he paid. If you have a certified diamond than the estimated replacement value may be on the paperwork (it was on mine) OR the insurance company can help you estimate the replacement value. For instance, my replacement value was nearly double what he paid it. Diamonds do appreciate in value so I think they take that into consideration.

I'm really glad he picked it out all by himself. He showed me pics online and I actually told him I didn't like a few things on my e-ring. But he would not let me go to the jewelers with him, so I never really knew how any setting or type would actually look on me.

He would ask me to look at things online just to see if I really really hated them. He knew me and my opinions well enough to pick the perfect ring for me.

We just ordered our wedding bands on Monday, and they will both kinda match my e-ring, which is kinda cool.

Yep, I know how much mine cost -- and I know that he got it for 50% off, too, because I picked it out and I was standing by him when he whipped out his checkbook and paid a grand total of . . .

Seven dollars.

It's .925 sterling with Afganistan lapis, and a really high quality stone at that, you can't see through it at ALL.

I know how much my wedding band will be too, since I found it and picked it out :) .13 carat of sapphires and diamonds in prong settings in a 10k white gold band. 5 diamonds and 6 sapphires. I deliberately picked 10k because I work with my hands a LOT and I needed a sturdy band that could take some abuse. My wedding band is $140.

Cool, huh? Willing to give the link out to anybody who wants it, because I found the jewelers here on OneWed.

I know how much my e-ring cost because I have been uber-paranoid until the papers get sent to the insurance company, and because I see the scary billing statement each month. : ) Gotta love 0% financing!!!

brand new car?! dang. i know how much mine is because i was there. i felt bad with anything over 1/2 carat. I guess Im just not a jewelry person and I think I would feel bad wearing that much money haha. Luckily, we went to Kay and that weekend they were having a sale that was like 1/2 off! so really the price should be doubled, but we lucked out in when we happened to go in.

I don't know the actual value of my e-ring because I will be putting a larger diamond in it instead of getting a wedding band. Heres why: my ring is actually a wedding set that is a wrap and has already been saudered together. My ring is a family ring. And to make it look different after the wedding we are using another family diamond. So my FH bought the ring from my grandmother and I was around. My ring sits at 1.5 carats but it will be over 2 when I get done.

I don't know what my ring cost but I do know what the appraisal for it was. The only reason I found out about the appraisal was because I was opening the mail and we got the new house insurance information and as I was reading through it I realized what they change was for and thought oops maybe I shouldn't be reading this. Oh well I told FH and he didn't care.

I Dont Know An Exact Number But I Have A Ball Park Idea.

He Was So Cute The Other Day, We Were Driving And The Light Hit It And It Caught Fhs Eye And He Said, I Could Have Gotten You A Bigger One (its 1/2 Ct, Which I Love, Perfect Size For Me) But I Wanted Quailty, That One Is Flawless.

I Love It And Think He Did A Great Job.

I saw the ring before he bought it so yes, I know! At the time, it didn't seem too expensive (it's a pink-orange sapphire, like watermelon Jolly Rancher candy but less tasty), but one of the other Onewed ladies mentioned not wanting to bankrupt her man with a similarly priced ring. So I guess he really spent a lot! :ooh:

Not that it matters, by the way. I'd be happy with a plain gold band if it came from him. :)

Tommy'sBride
03-26-2008, 01:35 PM
I know because the day after he proposed I had to take it back to the jewelers to get it sized smaller. I had to take the paperwork with me so of course I peeked :) I would have been fine with not knowing how much he paid. It's a beautiful ring but more importantly I get to spend the rest of my life with him and that's all that matters!!

MrsDM
03-26-2008, 02:43 PM
Yes I know. Stupid jewelers put down the appraisal of what he spent, not what the value of it is. I didn't want to know. Either way, its doubled what we were looking at because he decided to customize it. Then, much to his surprise, the jeweler does not have a wedding band to match up my channel set diamonds. So, our band budget is doubled now too! Man, diamonds cost a lot!!
