I have been working on my grad school application so I can get my masters in teaching. Well I need a faculty reccommendation (sp?) so I emailed the only professor I really had any sort of relationship with. I took two of his classes and did well in both. He told me he would be more then happy to help and would have no problem being 100% positive. So I faxed him a copy of the form yesterday, along with an email saying I had faxed it, then today I get home and I have an email that says this:
" Elizabeth, sorry, you need to ask someone else to help with this. --Dr.H"
These were his previous emails:
"Elizabeth,
I'd be happy to! I'd find it very easy to be 100% positive in your case. Is there a form I need? Get back to me, okay? And best of luck!
--Dr.H"
Then this one after I told him I was going into teaching
"Elizabeth,
Education is a terrific choice! You'll be a wonderful teacher!
Fax is fine! See number below."
So I emailed him back to ask why, and explained that the letter just needed to attest to my school work and stuff. What do you guys think? I'm so confused and really frustrated b/c I don't know what I am going to do if he won't do it!

Wow, that's really strange.
If you can find someone else, I'm sure it will work just fine. I don't think a recomendation letter is going to make or break your application.
I don't really understand what he means by his reason of why he won't do it. Maybe if you tell him that's what you were asking for from him since you did have 2 classes with him... Maybe he's confused about what they are asking for...

I know I thought it was so weird. Ecspecially the difference in writing style. I explained why I asked him and everything. I'm just worried about asking another teacher. Do you think it really matters? It's been over a year since I've graduated, and I wasn't close to hardly any of my professors. It makes me kind of mad, really! I'm still hoping he will respond with a reason. Thanks for the response though!

What does the form actually ask for???
Maybe he is not the right person to fill it out or something.
Wait for his reply and then go from there. Maybe he is confused! If he still does not want to do it, I would call the grad school and explain that you have been out of school for over a year, etc and see what they suggest. I can not imagine that you are the only person who has this difficulty.
RELAX it will all come together!

The form pretty much just says who are you, how do you know this person, and do you recommend them for this program? Then it asks to write a short letter explaining why you recommend them or not. I would imagine getting yor masters in business requires a more completed recommendation, and he is business teacher so I'm sure he writes tons of those. He knew it was the education program and he never mentioned a problem. My cousin wonders if maybe something in his personal life came up or soemthing b/c the whole thing is just weird. I already emailed another professor that I only had once, but I talked to him quite a bit and I had him my last semester in school, so hopefully he will be able to if the other guy can't. I'm sure something will work out, but I was so worried about this part and I thought I had it all taken care of then all of a sudden I didn't, so I kinda freaked out, ya know?

That sounds odd. I don't get it, I hope the other professor is able to help you out. Its hard knowing what happened but the change in his message is a bit strange. Good Luck.

That is realy odd. Now is this fax number you sent it to his personal, or can anyone else see the fax? If this is the case, maybe someone else is playing games with you? Either way, I think you deserve an explanation.

THe fax number goes to the College of Business main office, then goes to him. I didn't put a cover page b/c I thought it went right to him (I assumed, b/c he just siad here his my fax # then gave me the number, but I shouldn't have just assumed) so I got a call from the office secretary asking who it went to, so maybe that is where the problem occurred? Hopefully it's just a misunderstanding and I can get it cleared up. I didn't hear anything from either professor today b/c a lot of them don't have classes on fridays. I agree, though, I think I deserve an explanation, too!

I would also tend to believe someone other than Dr. H received the fax... that's the only plausible explanation seeing as how he was so agreeable in his first two emails!

I guess you just no other choice but to see how he responds?! Maybe there was some cosmic mix up between your email and another? Maybe he cut and paste the wrong response? Maybe his assistant answered the email? Maybe he or someone in his family is ill?
Ok I know I am reaching but .... he seemed rather positive about the whole thing up until the last email ... try not to worry at least until, you get an explanation from him.
