We are having our ceremony and reception at a state park. Our reception is going to be held in a conference shelter and then we have an additional 40x40 tent to go along with it. Do you think that it would look weird or it would section people off if I placed the opening to the tent to the opening of the doors of the conference shelter? I put pictures below so you could see what I'm talking about. Sorry if its a little confusing.

You can pull back the sides of the tent as much as needed.

I would say put them along side one another, but not touching and turn the space in between into a little pathway/courtyard area. You could have benches, potted plants, candle lit walkways... :eureka:

I agree put them next to each other but not touching. And have a cute walk way from one to the other.

I love those ideas the only problem I don't want is people to feel separated. B/c our head table would be in one place(the conference shelter). The dance floor and food would also be there b/c it has a hard surface. What would I put in the tent?

Hmmm... how many people are you having? how big is the tent & shelter? Is this at night time or just daytime?

I think even if you have them touching people are going to feel separated. Could you have all the food and tables in the tent and the dancing area in the shelter? or the dancing and food in the shelter and they can walk to the tables in the tent? :purplex: you could still have tables and chairs in the shelter for people to sit at during dancing...

Just to clarify...you would open the tent, and put the door openings open up to the tent...so it is kinda connected??? If sooo....yeah sure cool!

How will people get it???

We are having about 115-125 people. I just don't want people to feel separated. I guess we really don't have to use the tent. I just don't know if all those people are going to be able to fit into the shelter and the dj, the food, and enough room for the dance floor.

Yes...basically what I was going to do was leave the two long sides of the tent open..one connecting straight to the two doors to the shelter and the other at the opposite end for the guests to enter through. I was going to leave the two shorter sides closed in.

I guess I could put the guestbook table and the cardbox and gift table in the tent kind of like an entrance and then some tables and chairs for those guests who want fresh air or to smoke or kids or something. I dunno, I'm really stressin about this one.

Could you put it at an angle from the shelter and make the area into an L shape and maybe set up a little courtyard in the middle of the L? It might be nice to actually have some tables and chairs away from the band where people who want a quieter setting could go. It would also be nice to have a place where the kids could go and be kids too!

GOOD POINT! A lot of people will want to get away from the music and noise if they want to talk!:D
