I absolutely have fell in love with this dress. It's not a "traditional" dress by any means, but then again, I'm not a "traditional" type of girl. And I think it will be perfect for the chic look we're going for (My fiance has picked out a calvin klein infinity tux). The problem is, one of my maids said she feels it's too "prom-ish". I haven't decided whether I should politely tell her to piss off since it's not her wedding, or just prove her wrong . The color I'm ordering it in is Diamond White satin, and it will have the silver beading like in the picture. I'm thinking a sleek updo like in the picture, no curls, since that would probably make the prom thing more feasible. I've also been toying around with the idea of a birdcage veil, I just don't quite know if it fits the style...I wasn't planning on wearing a veil at all. Any ideas?!
Anyways, here's is the dress.....

I agree. It's YOUR wedding, wear what makes YOU happy.

Beautiful dress. I can see her "prom" comment, but I think in white and with the occasion, it will be fine! As for the veil, I'm not a real big fan of birdcage veils. I think with that dress, I would opt not to wear a veil at all.

I don't see it as a prom dress at all .... it's more of an opening night gala dress or formal affair.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!! and I agree, if you want it and it suits you, then tell her to take a hike and wear it (she can wear whatever she wants to her own wedding). It's gorgeous!

Me? I would go without a veil :)

i think the only "prom" look would be the slit. other then that i think its gorgeous and so so sleek!

love it

I love it. It's gorgeous and reminds me of the dress worn in the movie "how to lose a guy in 10 days". I also agree "tell her to piss off". LOL.

I love the dress...it is so different but in a good way;) If I were you I wouldnt wear a veil at all just because the back of the dress is awesome and I wouldnt want to cover that up.

I think it looks great and it is your choice...Are you getting married in a church, If so make sure you check if they have a "dress code". I Really like her low up-do it makes the dress look very elegant. I think anything curly or piled on top of your head would look very prom-ish ;)

We're getting married on the beach, so I don't think there will be any problems with the dress code. Thank you so much for your opinions! I think I'll stick with not wearing a veil. :D

I don't think this is "prom" looking at all!! In fact this style is very very in right now. I say go for it and prove her wrong.

It's a lovely dress! And it is your day not hers, after all.

I may just be somewhat old fashioned, but I can't see it as a prom dress at all. My father would have had a seizure had I walked out in something like that. When you said prom I thought of something with no straps and a lot of "fluff".

Girl,

If you have the guts and the body to wear that dress then please - for heavens sakes and for the rest of us who DON'T- WEAR IT ! We'll cheer you on ! It is absolutely georgous !

I would not use a traditional veil with it - I would recommend that you look into the visor or birdcage veils with some matching crystals and maybe a white and simple feather. Not tooo much, just a little bit.

You will be stunning - and he won't be able to take his eyes off of you. And send us pictures - that is going to be fantastic !

Yes, to me this is definitely not a prom look. It's gorgeous, especially with the low cut in the back! I'd also opt to not wear a veil, too.

nice dress, so not prom. I think that would have been against the prom dress code.. Only I would feel a little to naked in that dress :-)

I think it's a beautiful & elegant dress. I agree with the person that said if you've got the body, wear it. You'll be stunning!

Um, I'm not sure what prom your bridesmaid went to but.....that is NOT a prom dress. You will look absolutely STUNNING. I think you could totally get away with a birdcage veil. The whole look will be amazing!!!!! Congrats on finding such a beatiful dress :)

She is just jealous b/c you must have the body of a goddess to rock this stuff in public. And if you have the bod, go for it!!! It doesn't look prom to me, it looks more high end starlet...Scarlet J. type look. I love love love the back detail...*something chic to look at during the ceremony* I would tell her she can wear some super fluffy monstrosity & and go hang with the seagulls with that attitude>>>GRR

If it's white and you are coming down the aisle in it... no one will think prom... they'll think what an amazingly beautiful bride!

Tell her to piss off

That dress reeks of glamour and glitz! I don't see any "prom" in it at all. It's gorgeous, and if you can pull it of, more power to you!! Tell her it's a good thing you're wearing the dress and not her then :D
