All this talk about petals got me thinking. I would like to sprinkle either real or fake leaves around on the floor of the pavillion at the reception. The floor is cement so I think the leaves would give it a prettier look.

Do you guys think they would be slippery on a cement floor? silk or real?

You might want to spray something on them, like a mattifying agent or something? I'm sure that they might be slippery, especially if you're wearing heels. I think that it might be better on the tables and stuff.

I like this idea and I think it would work as long as you used them sparingly ... I would probably go with the silk. Even if the real ones are not slippery, but they would get mushed when people step on them and then they would be harder to clean up afterwards ;)

I agree, I would go with silk....you can get more colors and they wouldnt crumble to smithereens.

I love the looks of the rose petal aisle. But my dress has a train. All those petals would end up under my dress and none left in the aisle.

Hey, when Becky suggested this in my journal, I looked into it and to get real rose petals (so we won't have to pick them up) it's only $25 for a large bag (mixed)! The florist says that will be enough to CARPET our aisle if we wanted too! I'm so excited!

Yeah, I'm getting real. It's only purple though, no other colors. And, I don't want them terribly dense. If we have a flower girl, I'm just going to use three or four white roses for the petals so that she can toss those down.
