Hey girls....I'm meeting with my DJs on Sunday and Monday and wanted to have my playlist and DO NOT playlist ready....we have a pretty good one compiled but I was wondering if anyone could help and suggest some songs I might have not thought of. We've done the obvious vetoes for the chicken dance and such....but just wanted to make sure some horrible song didnt slip my mind. Thank you!!:bblol:

Here's what mine would say if I weren't doing my own music:
chicken dance
YMCA
anything country
polka
anything group-dancey like the cha cha slide
cotten-eyed joe

Awww come on .... not all country is bad!
Ok I don't know about anyone else but I can't stand McArthur Park ..... what does leaving a cake out in the rain have to do with anything?
Any song about cheating :)

come on cotton eye joe is on your do not play list! That funny is so fun. What about "thank god I'm a country boy" that's a classic.

I have to disagree with Elizabeth on this one ....I love Mambo #5 *giggle* I know I know it's about lots of girls, etc. But it's sooo catchy and reminds me of younger days.
Sadly I enjoy what most would label "annoying" dance songs. I will even admit...I like Aqua.

I'm with you on this one, the annoying songs are the best dance songs. But aqua, I'm not going to go that far.

This is funny, I'm doing the chicken dance at the top of the hour for the kids... and I'm requesting almost nothing BUT country :soppy:

"Every Breath You Take" by the Police (it is about a stalker, not a love song)
"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor (about a broken relationship)
There a few other songs that I have seen played at weddings about some broken relationship, but I can't think of the name right now.
And "club" song is generally not appropriate for a wedding. You would be surprised by how many "booty shakin" brides I have seen :worm: Although I guess if that is the kind of party you want then go for it ;)

I'll always love you - Whitney or Dolly
Bittersweet memories
that is all I'm taking with me.
So, goodbye. Please, don't cry.
We both know I'm not what you, you need.

I will probably be one of those booty shakin brides  but not early on. We will play that stuff towards the end.

It is funny though to see a bride in a fancy wedding dress doing "scrub the ground" or something with her father and grandfather looking on in shock :p
LOL - I remember on wedding where the bride and groom were doing some heavy dirty dancing (to what song I don't remember) and the FOB said "that's my little girl" *hehe*
This is just not something I would do in front of my family; especially DH's family ... I don't want them to know me like that :worm:

Hahahaha, no offense taken! I will not be doing anything to embarrass myself in front of my family. But we will play some dance music, clean versions, later on in the night.

I have to clarify because as usual my big mouth has gotten me in trouble. The WEDDING I was in was not annoying. But this is a thread about music. And thats what I was referring to. The fact that when certain music is played people try to drag you on the dance floor. Thats actually what I don't like. It isn't really even the songs themselves. And certainly not that any weddings that play these songs are annoying. Its more me not wanting to dance to the songs. Thats all. Sorry to anyone that was offended by my comments. :worry:
