I'm getting married in a civil ceremony very soon in California.
Does anyone have info / experience on civil ceremonies?

Any wedding ceremony that does not take place in a church is considered a 'civil ceremony' A civil ceremony can be pretty much the same as any other ceremony.
However, in most cases when people talk about a civil ceremony they are referring to the quickie wedding done at the JOP. It is pretty simple and straight forward ... the old "Do you promise ...", exchange rings, kiss and BAMM, you're married.
We had a 'civil ceremony' with a more personal feel. We hired a minister to marry us in our home and told him what we wanted, it was great :)
:goodluck: Congrats and Welcome to the board!

We were planning to take this route. ! I honestly admit I was upset when it came down to not doing a big traditional wedding. Make sure you are totally 100% ok with this route. Hope you come back to chat more :)
