It is ALL over the news. Heath Ledger past away this afternoon in his Manhattan home. They suspect OD because there were pills everywhere.
**I'll remember his roles in "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Brokeback
Mountain."

Aw, ****. I hope he was done filming for Dark Knight. Otherwise I will be severely disappointed...Also they better find a good replacement if the Joker is in the next Batman movie.

sierrab - im sorry if someone thinks im offensive for saying this but, the man had a 2 year old daughter and his ex is now a single mother raising her alone. i hardly think that the pain everyone in his family is feeling should take a back seat to your dissapointment that the movie might not be coming out. sorry, that just sounded very insensitive considering the circumstances. the last thing anyone should think about is their own sadness when someone may have commited suicide.

OMG...when I read this I thought it HAD to be a bad joke! I cant believe that, I really like him. It is weird when actors like that are in movies you grow up to die...it just seems so surreal. Sometimes we think that they are invinsible to anything bad.

This makes me sad:purplex:

And I think it is ridiculous how people get so involved in the lives of celebrities. They serve the purpose of entertainment on the movie screen and that is all that is needed. I really don't think the two year old and single mom are going to be having the same problems as my friend who is a single mom after her husband died in Iraq.

OMG I just saw this and I was completely shocked!!!! I still can't believe, it's so sad!!! I wonder if hollywood will ever change, b/c it just seem like one person after another is killing themselves intentionally or accidentally. It's so unbelievable about him! His poor family, he seemed so, IDK, normal for lack of a better word I guess.

He was always one of my faves. I've never taken the death of a celeb personally, but this one is VERY sad for me for some reason.

So sad for his friends and family.

And I doubt ANYONE could make the Joker like he is going to. Just in the previews, he blows me away.

*le sigh*

I saw the preview for the Batman movie. I think at this point they are editing the movie.

A single mom is a single mom, regardless of how the father dies, leaves, whatever. I don't think comparing two of them to see who has it worse is going to fix any problems. And, celebrity or not, and with money and help or not, raising a decent person by yourself will be HARD. Just because a celebrity father died and left a celebrity mother doesn't mean she'll have an easier time raising her child than your friend will.

Oh, also, I'm with you Tango. Usually this stuff doesn't really get to me, but this one is hitting a little harder. Wonder why.

crazycatlady

obviously, having money doesnt solve problems or else people like chris farley and john belushi wouldnt be dead. so i agree with wbandme... there is no way to compare the 2. the feeling of losing a loved one is the same whether youre poor or rich. his purpose on this earth was not to entertain us.... he was a person just like you and me. he had problems, obviously, just like you and me. that doesnt exempt his family from grief.

Well I think a lot of conclusions were made way too early by the media. Apparently he has been suffering from pneumonia and they feel it was a totally accidental overdose. I was a huge Heath Ledger fan and this is hard for me. I actually cried today a little, and that is the first time since Princess Diana I have cried over a celebrity death.

I do not usually get that bothered over these things either. But I grew up watching this man on screen, and he was a -good- man away from that screen as well. Hell, he wasn't even much older than me. So young...so sad.

And yes right now they think it was an accident, but no one will know yet.

I'm really sad about Heath, he was an amazing actor with such a bright future. I found this video and it's so sad to watch.

I cried when I heard this morning. He was truly one of my favorite actors. He was only 8 Days younger than me, and that really hits home to me. I have a little girl and I really can't imagine what his family is going through. He'll be remembered well I hope. I know I will.:sob:

Isn't it horrible? I really hope it was an accident. I'll be angry if he did kill himself. Leaving that poor little girl without a Father. So sad. I feel so horrible for all of his family.

Why? For the Brokeback Mountain thing? I really really really hope that they would reconsider, whatever their reasoning is. Nobody deserves that.

Yes, it's all over the internet right now and I don't want to post the site because A. it's being overloaded by hits I think and B. it's too awful to share. I hope it isn't true but they feel because she made Brokeback he should burn in hell.

Hopefully the funeral will be in Australia and they won't be able to. I can't believe they can't be stopped somehow.

I totally agree. I can't believe some people. Who cares he was in that movie. He was a great actor, and a generous person and that what he should be remebered for, not that he played a gay cowboy in a fictional movie. I can't believe people have no respect.

erg that group does nothing but outrage me. I hate that they are the only "Christians" some people will ever see, just because they are loud mouth people who think God hates everyone but them... erg. As someone going into the ministry I cannot STAND the message they send out. I hate even more that some people may view me that way just because of my faith and associate me with that group, if that is what they have formed as a general people of Christians. If that makes any sense... haha it did in my head haha

Sooo just to clear the record... that group does not represent any kind of Christian morals, and Christians do not actually think the way that they do :)

Actually it does make sense. It is sad that people abuse other peoples pain just to make a name for themselves. I hope they aren't allowed anywhere near that funeral...or any other funeral for that matter.

It is people like them that get our freedoms taken away!!

I was cooking dinner in our resort kitchenette when I turned on the tv and saw the last two seconds of a news report. All I saw was Heath's picture and then the lady saying that it was believed to be an accidental overdose. I think that I just stood there staring at the tv until Chad came in and asked what in the world I was doing. I told him what I thought I had just heard and he just kept saying "no", "what", "no". It truly upset me for a few hours. We sat down to dinner and prayed for all of his loved ones. Even the next morning I awoke wondering if it had been a dream. Strangely it's something that I'll always remember from my honeymoon. It effected me much more than I would have ever thought. Sometimes films touch you deeply and the people merely playing roles have an impact on you as well.
