View Full Version : How much did you spend on your cake?
I was just wondering what you spent on your cake. I just got a quote for my 2 tier cake which will be lemon with raspberry filling on one layer and chocolate with chocolate filling in the next with non-dairy whipped icing.(This will feed 36 people...SMALL wedding!) She is asking $261.00. No flowers or decorations on it. I am providing the topper once I order it.
What was you cake like and what did you spend?

We spent about $325 on ours. It was 3 tier and we had 150 at our wedding and still had most of our base tier left... it was a TON of cake.
Here is a picture of what we got for the $325 (we provided the topper though)

Oh and we also got a "grooms cake" which was chocolate cake as well:

I haven't ordered the cake yet, but almost all the bakers here charge a certain amount per slice. The average cake seems to be $2.50-$5 a slice, and more expensive if you want something really intricate.

Our cake served between 35-50 and cost us less than $50.00 in total.

Hummingbird - I really like that cake!
Dani - That does seem a bit pricey 7.25 a serving and I'm kind of confused by the no decorations. It's just going to be 2 frosted tiers, no color... I'd try a different bakery.

Well, we're getting our cake for free because my best friend/bridesmaid's Mom owns a bakery, but our cake will feed 135-175 people and would normally cost between $235 and $275. I think $260 is an outrageous price if it's only feeding 36 people. I'd definitely check elsewhere.

By no decorations, I mean flowers on it. I would think she would be doing some sort of piping. I will need to get her to clarify it for me. According to her, she has been doing cakes for 15 years for the company that we are having our reception with. They referred her to me.

I agree that is an outrageous price! You should look around at different places, I have seen 4 and 5 tiered cakes with lots of decorations for around $300.00. What sizes are your tiers? I would not pay more than $150 for only serving 40 people!

I am hoping we don't spend more than $200 on feeding about 100 people... I'm not going to ask for anything really fancy though... Actually, i don't even know what i want yet, LOL. I just know i don't want to spend more than what Steves grandma gives us for it.. O.o;; ::is greedy.. And a bit poor::

Our cake was $400 (including delivery, set up and everything)- we had 85 guests and more than a full tier left over!
Here is a picture of our cake (note: our cake decorator would not use real flowers because of the risk of putting a flower that could be covered in pesticides and chemicals on top of something people eat)

Desert was included in our price for dinner, and my husband hates cake so we order a fake one, that cost $80. We just wanted to get the pictures with it.

Mine will be for 106 people quoted at $320. This included delivery and setup. 3 tiers, 2 of them with chocolate truffle filling.
Just an idea. I have a friend that went to Bel Air and got a white frosted round cake with white buds on it, and put some fresh flowers on it and a topper.. on top of a tier. In the back she kept a sheet cake for feeding everyone. Cost her $50 total for her cakes!
One of my bridesmaids recently married a baker... I got a hook up on my cake!!
