Hi there. My wedding is in May of this year. We just found our venue, so we need to make and send out our invitations pretty soon. Our theme is kind of classic Hollywood, with the colors being primarily black & white, with stricking bits of red. I had the idea of making an invite shaped kind of like a movie ticket, but I don't want to do anything blatently cheesy movie-like, because I'm going for CLASSIC black/white Hollywood.
Does anyone have any ideas about what materials to use, or how to do this? I want it very classy, just a hint of red (maybe just a red ribbon or border somewhere on there), and affordable. I'll accept any and all ideas, and if anyone has any pictures of something like this, I'd like to look at them, just so I can see what I'm thinking of.
Thanks a bunch!
Melissa

hi melissa, welcome to the boards. i suggest using black cardstock with white tinted vellum. Perhaps tying red bow at the top or middle.
:) good luck!

You might want to check out Treasia's (SouthernBelle) thread in the annoucement section for ideas. I am thinking of her invite that looks like a tuxedo or the red monogrammed one (sorry, but I can't find the thread LOL)

Theres a lot of templates available on the web. I think I found mine on ask.com. Then you can change it for you, and put it on any paper you want.

You could always do something like this: http://alannahrose.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/mademoisellepolkadot.jpg
Try a white invitations (maybe with an iridescent paper) with black wording, and get a stamp that's round and decorative like the one in the picture - use red ink and black wording. You could also incorporate some retro or art deco fonts. Try this site for free fonts: http://www.abstractfonts.com/category/57/Art+Deco. Do a little research about the time period you're interested in and see what kind of styles and fonts they used. Good luck!
