Tan Translucent Airbrush In A Can by ModelCo

The most convenient and easy to use self-tan is airbrushed onto the skin as a superfine translucent mist. Tan Translucent creates a natural, all-over sun-kissed glow that's dye-free and won't stain or mark your fluffy fresh white towels or luxurious linens.

Tan Translucent features ModelCo's unique 360 degree actuator and airbrush technology that ensures a streak-free finish and all-over even coverage that effectively camouflages skin imperfections while the superfine, quick absorbing color-free mist allows you to hygienically spray your face and body without touching or rubbing the skin.

All of these can be purchased on www.sephora.com

I've tried all of them out, and they're all fabulous! The Take Out Makeup Kit would make a wonderful gift for your bridal party. I have the Lunchbox (just like it, only with a blue case and different shades) and it's really all I ever need. Concealer, blush, bronzer, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip gloss.

And, the Dandelion really gives you a beautiful glow. Comes with other shades too, so you can have a bronzed look, a pink (blushing) look, etc.

The Fresh lip gloss makes your lips plump and shimmery, doesn't taste awful, and doesn't burn the way Lip Venom does. My FAVORITE LIP GLOSS EVER!

Remember, with tanning, NEVER TAN WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF THE WEDDING. You don't wanna look like a lobster, and you don't wanna peel. I've heard horror stories. And with a self tanner, always give it a test run 2 weeks in advance. Use baby oil to remove if it's scary... But with the ModelCo Translucent tan, it's not as dramatic as the regular Tan.

I hope you never leave us Carrie!! You always have the best make up advice! ;)

I am going to need advice on make up when I get closer to my date. I have never worn any make up. So I know nothing about it! But I would like to wear a little on our wedding day. But with hiking and everything I think I am going to have a hard time. The reception will be better since there is no hiking involved on that day.

I want the make up to be extremely light almost to look like I am not wearing any at all. I don't want my pictures to not look like me. kwim? I am going for the glow. When I told my best friend this she simply said get pregnant!! LOL!! That would do it, but I think I will save that for a few years after the wedding! LOL! My friend and I have talked about going to Filenes and have the make up lady show us a thing or two.

I don't wear a lot of makeup, and that set by Hard Candy is enough for me. I reccomend that if you want to touch up your makeup on top of the mountain. Very small case, but it has everything!!

Ask away anytime! I'll be glad to help. ;)

Great tips Carrie ... I love the mineral makeup, it adds a little bit of a shimmer and they have something that is almost just like that Dandelion stuff ;)

I have heard good things about that Hard Candy stuff, I may have to try that too :D

The Fresh lip gloss makes your lips plump and shimmery, doesn't taste awful, and doesn't burn the way Lip Venom does
OK this Lip Venom stuff sounds scary :o I love lip gloss but I don't think I need any plumping *wink*

I don't wear alot of makeup and when I do I like something quick and easy and natural looking. I have a friend that is a makeup artist ... she always says for brides to focus on the eyes.

Well, I guess that is all for my rambling for now

I wear make up most of the time to work and if we are going somewhere special. I dont wear it if i dont have to. Im wondering what I will do for the make up thing. I want something a little different than the "norm" but still want it natural. I have pale skin (but thats subject to change) with light freckles and green eyes. And I DONT try to hode my freckles. I usually do play up my eyes.

I'm still deciding just how I want to play mine. I posted a pic in my journal of how I'd like to do it (A picture of Rose McGowan) but I'm not sure how commited I am to doing it that way. I mean, Cindy can agree, early afternoon in TX in June isn't really the most perfect time to wear makeup. It's hotter than a habanero!

Weblady! Yeah, I don't need help in the plumping department, either, but the lip gloss just gives a little oomph. Lip Venom is pretty scary stuff. It makes your lips big by irritating the heck out of them. Some of the products with collagen freak me out because collagen comes from cow brains. Ick!

I think that the best way to get your makeup decided on is to walk into a store like Sephora. You can test everything, and there are knowelageable people there to help you if you need it. They can teach you how to apply it, and show you what colors will work best with your skin.

I'm working on my makeup shopping list, though, and once it's done, I'll share for sure! ;)

Lingerie & Galoshes For Lashes by Urban Decay

Housed in an ultra-portable and utterly adorable dual-sided tube, Lingerie for Lashes & Galoshes for Lashes makes the most of the favorite mascara that’s already in your makeup bag. The sleek purple wand comes complete with cute graphics of wellies on one end and a cami set on the other. Sexify eyes with a little Lingerie and then seal the deal for a waterproof finish that lasts all night with Galoshes.

To use: Lingerie for Lashes – Apply this lightweight primer enriched with fibers to naked lashes to add lift, length, and oomph, then apply mascara.

Galoshes for Lashes – Once mascara is set, apply this clear, waterproof layer that won’t quit come rain or shine. Perfect for pool parties, weddings and days at the beach when you need the reliability of your favorite mascara and don’t want to take chances with an untested waterproof formula.

You do need a regular mascara, but this duo will keep that black stuff from budging!

I have tried that clear mascara. Just to highlight my eyes a little. Everytime I use black I feel too made up. It just doesn't look right on me. Maybe it is just me though. I will have to do some experimenting.

Try getting a dark brown or even a navy mascarra. They won't be as dark on you.

Carrie, I was wondering, I have really dark eyes. Do you have anything to give them that smokey look? They look great when I get them done like that but I can never accomplish it on my own. The eyeshadow is never intense enough. So I end up with muted eye shadow and a mess of dark eye liner.

CarlosHoney

It sounds like you need some kohl. It's super dark concentrated stuff. Since I'm pale, with light eyes, I don't have a ton of hands on experience with that kind of stuff.. but my mom swears by this stuff (Weblady mentioned it too):
http://a1377.g.akamai.net/7/1377/5720/20050822183053/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P61013/P61013_hero.jpg
i.d. bareMinerals Liner Shadow (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml%3B$sessionid$IIMO4EQLKIG3LLAUCLBBXCQ ;jsessionid=IIMO4EQLKIG3LLAUCLBBXCQ?id=P61013&categoryId=B70) It's revolutionary eye beauty - pure bareMinerals pigments offer intense, radiant color for a variety of eye-defining effects. Wear Liner Shadow dry for soft, subtle or smoky looks, or wear it wet for a more dramatic, fine line. Smudge-proof and water-resistant, bareMinerals Liner Shadow lasts all day and is good for sensitive eyes.

This is what my best friend uses:
http://a1377.g.akamai.net/7/1377/5720/20051130190044/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P74518/P74518_hero.jpg
Eye Shadow/Liner by Lorac (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml%3B$sessionid$IIMO4EQLKIG3LLAUCLBBXCQ ;jsessionid=IIMO4EQLKIG3LLAUCLBBXCQ?id=P74518&categoryId=B70)

Whether you line, layer, or blend using this rich sparkle liner, it's a fun way to add a touch of pizzazz to any look, day or night. The dazzling definition this must-have provides - takes eyes from sexy, to playful, to feminine - everything makeup is about this season.

The key with smokey eye is to start with the liner, smudge it, and layer the shadow until you get the desired effect.

I'm a Bare Minerals girl too and it's amazing. You can go as natural or as dramatic as you want without much effort.

Lacey - Go to Ulta at the Monroeville Mall or at the Waterfront (those are the only two I know of in the Pgh area). They just started carrying Bare Minerals in October. They have everything there for you to try and the women who work there are absolutely amazing. I was looking for some different makeup to try and she got out some colors from Bare Minerals. I told her I wasn't going to like those colors...guess what I left the store with....her colors, no wonder she works there :) Don't be afraid of the glimmer and shimmer...absolutely beautiful!

Ok, enough rambling about Bare Minerals :)

It depends. I buy anything that looks like I might like. I have no brand loyalty when it comes to cosmetics.

Yeah, DH tells me I look fine with or without makeup (he is smart that way ;)) I don't like to wear alot of makeup, mostly because I work from home in my PJ's half the time, that and I am lazy *wink*

When I do wear makeup I love to use Mineral Makeup, it is great I love the stuff! But, I don't use the 'Bare Minerals' brand. I did a website for a girl a while back and she sold the same stuff for less. Her site is www.ckmineralmakeup.com

I am fair skinned with light (blueish/gray) eyes ... most of the time I go for the natural look (using soft pinks, peach and brown tones) but when I want the dramatic smokey eye look I use this ...

After work today I stopped at Ulta to pick up some of the stuff that we talked about. I had a huge list of things really that I was going to buy. But I wanted to ask some questions and get some porfessional advice before I shelled out that much money on make up. So I stood there at the Bare Minerals counter. And I stood and stood and stood. About 5 sales girls walked by. No one could help me because they only had one person who trained in the Bare Minerals stuff and she was already with a customer. So I waited for OVER 45 minutes while this woman was helping this customer. The other sales girl told her I was waiting. She was standing less than 5 feet from me. Not once in all that time did she even turn around and say I'll be with you in just a moment. She then sold this woman a ton of makeup, make up applicators, brush cleaners, facial cleaners, took her all around the store. Then took her up to the check out, rang her up, and walked her to the door. Then stood there and carried on a 10 minute conversation with her. All the while, she KNEW that I needed help. (I heard the girl specifically tell her it was for my wedding too.) After this, she walks in the back, then finally comes out and asks me if there was anything else I needed. I was so mad I had wasted by this point almost an hour standing there trying to figure things out for myself. No one helped me or even came back later and offered to help me. I lost it. I looked at her and said, "After the way I was treated for the last hour by your staff and you, you couldn't pay me to ever shop here again." I was so mad that I could have driven my car through the store.

Wow, :o I am so sorry to hear that Lacey!

I have had similar experences in the local Ulta out here  It is just sad how people in sales treat customer's sometimes. I would complain to the manager and write a letter. Maybe the girl will get written up or something ... you might even get some coupons

My sister had a similar experience with the customer no-service at the local Walmart. I think there was a little more to it, but I don't remember. Anyway, she wrote a letter to the store manager and the District manager and they sent her a $100 gift certificate!

That is why I like to shop online.

Lacey, definitley write corporate and the manager. That's not right. Not at all. Even if the other sales girls aren't trained with that stuff, they could at least help you with something until she's avalable. Maybe show you some other products that they are trained in that will give you the desired effect.

My mom used to work for Ulta.. Never been there myself. I love Sephora, though.

I know absolutly nothing about make-up. I wear Cover-up every day to try and hide my acne. And every now and then, when I dress up, I put on mascara. I have tried eyeshadow, lipstick, all that fun stuff, and I either can't find a color that I think looks good or I can't figure out exactly how to apply it right so I don't look like some sort of a clown! I would love to start using a little here and there. Expecially for the wedding. I went to a make-up counter once a couple years ago and hated the way I looked. I have never heard of the places y'all have been mentioning. I would like to find some place though so I can figure out a way to do something simple for the wedding. Some place that will pick out a couple colors that look good on me, pick products that are simple to apply and will still make it look like I'm not really wearing anything. I'll have to see if I can find anything online about the places you mentions. Maybe there is a store hidden around here that I don't know about!

Lacey - It was awful how they treated you at Ulta! I've been to the one in Monroeville numerous times and there are always multiple ladies there more than ready to help. I really don't think there is one specific employee there trained in Bare Minerals.

I would really contact the store manager and corporate and tell them how you were treated there.

Go with shades that aren't dark or dramatic. Stick to shades that are light, shimmery, and nataral. And remember--even if you don't think it looks good, it might. I've had my makeup done by others and though everyone agrees and I get compliments to the effect that it's a nice look, since it's not nomal for me to see it, I don't really like it.

Go to any makeup counter and tell them what you want. Just tell them that you want a nataral look, and just want to learn to apply the makeup. A good company for that is Philosiphy. All of their makeup, though expensive, is good quality, and is very light and meant to look nataral. Good things to start with:

Max Factor has very good eyeshadow
Burt's Bees has some tinted moisturisers for your lips. Light and pretty.
Maybeline's Mascara is the best!
Cover /girl makes good lipstick and concealer.. I don't care for their other products, personally. I wear very light makeup.. What I do is wear concealer, pressed powder, lip gloss, eye shadow, and mascara. If I'm going somewhere nice I'll use blush.

If you have any ??'s, let me know!!

The tanning stuff in the first post by ModelCo is my favorite. The best thing to do with anything like that, though, is to spray it on and wear it with something white. Try it out beforehad, because you don't want a Dreamsickle gown.

But, I prefer bronzers. They wash off after each application. This one I've tried and I like:

Ahhhh...Sephora loves my money too! They should just put a box that I can just throw $75 in when I walk through the door.

Before my sister's wedding, her now husband took my sister, me and her other bridesmaid to Sephora in Shadyside. The poor guy sat in a chair for over an hour while we ran all around the store. I know that he regretted offering to drive us down. We warned him and told him we'd just take ourselves, but that's the kind of nice guy that he is :)

I will ask Brian if he wants to go shopping with me and before he will say yes or no, he wants to know what kind of shopping I will be doing.:)

From what I understand, it does something similar.

Good luck!
Thanks so muck I'll check out the website. xx
