If this post is not allowed let me know and I'll delete it.

Every year I grow out my hair and donate it to Locks for love www.locksoflove.org; I have been doing this since I was about 15 and I am 30 now, they are a non profit group that takes the hair and has wigs made for children cancer patients. This year we are doing it as a family; and it made me wonder if there are others out there that might like to help with this. I have the minimum 10 inches that is required; but since we are doing this as a family, I have to wait until the other's in my family has the 10 inches.

I looked into this a while back, but my hair is damaged from years of color and such.

Good for you and your family for doing such a good thing.

I've done this twice now. My hair grow so slowly that it takes a few years for me to grow it out enough to do it again!

I think it's awesome you do this, I had a good friend growing up who had to get wigs made from this program. It's a super good cause.

My hair grows fairly fast; but the kids hair doesn't seem to grow that fast, my husband has even decided to get in on this. At first I was really sort of not really sure I liked the idea of him growing it out. I like the clean cut looking guys; but it has sort of grown on me and it is a good cause. Well! as I said if any one wants to join in with us; the more the better.

I am growing my hair out for the wedding. I plan on cutting it off after the wedding anyways so if it is long enough and I qualify for it I will definitely donate it to Locks of Love. It is such a great cause.

They do sell any hair that is not the right amount; but they really would like for you to get at least 10 inches. As I have said I have been doing this since I was 14 or 15 and I; plan on doing for as long as I feel like growing out my hair. I have really thick hair and here in Georgia when the weather gets really hot; I feel like I am carrying around 20 extra pounds. One time that I donated; which was a few months after I got married I sent in just over 18 inches, and someone was nice enough to send me back a note that said they were able to make 3 wigs out of it. I am guessing they must have been for a boy or really little girl; but I was thrilled to find that out. I did this as a challenge on time to some of my friends and between the 8 of us we sent 8 ft of hair.

I did that one time, I think I was a freshman or sophomore in high school. I think I had 11 inches off that time. My sister has done it once or twice.

Early bird,
When I got married I could sit on my hair; even when it was in a braid. I at one point had wanted to see if I could grow my hair to my ankles; but since it can get pretty tangled and hard to brush by yourself, I'll stick to being able to sit on it again.

It really nice to be able to hear about how many people have donated their hair to this group.

I knew that someday I wanted to donate my hair to a organization like this one...so the day after my wedding I made a pact with myself to donate my hair. That Sunday I just cut off 12.5 inches....but I love it. Someone somewhere will now be able to have thick long hair, after all i don't need it so why not let someone else enjoy it. We have all this buildup to the wedding and this was a nice way to give back...I hope others will think about doing something similiar.
