OK ladies, I am helping a friend with her daughter's wedding ... the church has red carpet and red pews. So we think that the bright turquoise the bride originally wanted will clash a bit. I was hoping they would do black but the mom doesn't want that. Then I thought a deeper blue even navy but they haven't decided yet. What do you think? What other color would you pick?
Thanks :)

If I had that much red, I would definitely go with subtle colors. A black and white wedding would look very classy. I personally would probably go cream and gold; but I'm not a big dark color person.

My whole thinking on this issue....how long will you really be at the Church?? And who is paying attention to the pews and carpet anyhow?? Shouldn't it be about the couple? I wouldn't worry about clashing, if the bride wants lime green no one should talk her out of it! It's their day! I wouldn't worry about the red carpet and pews really! And like I said, how long will you spend in the church? Its usually only about an hour or so, I'm sure people won't even notice that the dresses clash with the church!! (sorry for being so blunt but its the way my thinking works! Hopefully I didn't step on anyones toes!!) Best wishes!

The bride doesn't like pastels ... she said she likes blues. They are going today to get the brides dress then tomorrow to pic the BM's dresses and I told them to try to coordinate with the red of the church.
We are using ivory roses for her bouquet (which I am making and I am both nervous and excited about it) we just need to know the color to tie everything else together.
The wedding is March 11th so we have to pull all the details together ASAP, the wedding is in just over a month! I know it can be done, I just have to keep everyone from freaking out and help me get it done ;)

Well I was sort of thinking the same at first but them someone brought up the pictures at the church. Plus the reception is in the church's banquet hall which has also has sort of a red floor. I mentioned the aisle runner and they don't want to spend anymore money so that is out.
I am sure it would be fine either way, I have only seen pictures so maybe the red isn't as bad as they all say ... maybe it will just give them the old "Red carpet" feel
After all, I know there are other more important details to finalize.
Thanks :D

Green could work with the red nicely because they are complimentary colours. A dark emerald green would be very pretty. Even going to a teal, blue or blue-violet would work. I would stay away from any oranges and yellows.
With ivory flowers for the BM would brighten the dresses up a bit. Then maybe red flowers for the bride to compliment the red carpet and pews. Plus, white/ivory flowers can get lost in the pictures against the white dress.

I don't know about green, too Christmas'y don't you think? I think she was leaning towards a teal last I heard.
As for the flowers, she originally wanted all white and I steered her to ivory roses. (her dress is going to be white) I mentioned red and she vetoed that with a quickness ;)
I am sure we will work it out with whatever she ends up choosing, I am not going to stress about it

Weblady- after hearing all the work you do for your brides, it makes me regret not having a wedding planner in the first place.
I think I would have had a lot less stress and tears if I had one.

I think ivory pew bows would be beautiful with the red.

Awwe ... Although having someone knowledgeable help out is a great bonus to a bride, I still think it can be done ... after-all, we have each other here to help ;) I know it will all work out hun,

Yes, I agree ... I just found out last night that her FMIL will be making those. I am going to tell the bride to make sure she makes them ivory ;)
