View Full Version : Seating?

Okay, I know that typically the parents sit in the front row and grandparents in the second row. My problem is that my parents are divorced and Dad is remarried--I don't want the three of them sitting in the same row (I have a feeling it would be too awkward for them to be comfortable and enjoy the ceremony) so I was thinking put my mom and brother in row 1, then dad and stepmom in row 2. Should I just push all 3 grandparents back, or should I have Mom's parents sit with her and my brother, and Dad's mom sit with him? Is there any formal etiquette on this? Also, if my brother sits with my mom, should my stepsiblings sit with their mom and my dad? I'm FAR closer to my brother and I wouldn't mind his girlfriend sitting up front, but I feel like my stepbrother/sister and their guests don't really need to be in the reserved seats. Maybe I'm making this a bigger deal than it is--either way, any advice would be appreciated!

I'm not sure if there is any etiquette or not, but I do know it is your wedding and whatever makes you feel more comfortable and what makes your family feel most comfortable is the way you should go. I think you could do it either way with your grandparents and it would be fine. Also with your step brother and sister I guess it depends on how old they are. If they are young would they have someone else to sit with?

Honestly it is up to you, as long as you don't put your mom and dad and your dad's wife all next to each other on the same row, I think it will work just fine :)

You might try asking your parents what they think.

My parents are both divorced and remarried and they will all be sitting in the front row. Ryan's parents are also divorced and only his dad remarried and they will also all be sitting in the front row.

I would think that most parents would put aside their differences and realize that it's your day.
