I was just wondering when I start my wedding dress shopping/looking is it a bad idea to have my fiance come along with me?

Do you want to keep the dress a secret? Are you doing the whole traditional thing? The only thing I would think is 'bad' is that generally guys haven't got much fashion sense . .. you'd probably be better off so far as questions regarding fit and line and color and so on if you brought your mom or your best friend or your maid of honor or somebody.
Fiance's generally have two reactions -- either it all looks fabulous or "Does it make you happy? Ok, buy it and let's go". Guys sometimes just don't 'get' why it's important to try on lots of dresses and having to find the perfect one.
Even my guy, who has had an active role so far in the wedding planning, when we went to pick out the fabric with my dressmaker, he was like 'Ok, I'll be over here, you girls just go do it'.
So . . .. I'd worry about boring him to death or having him rush you because he doesn't understand. I'd take a girlfriend instead!!
(In the future, we're doing fittings and so on without my FH. . . he knows what the fabric will be and the general shape of the dress, but he won't know anything beyond that!)

I agree..If your very traditional then I would advise against it, but if you feel you want him to have a say in it, then by all means bring him...
BUT,
On our wedding day my DH said to me "the best part of the day was watching you walk towards me in the church...you were the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life."
I say, go for the WOW factor...Surprise him!!!
