So, my fiance just started informing me of ideas for his tux. He wants a tie, not a bow-tie and would like a black pinstripe tux. I didn't even think twice about it, but when I mentioned it to my Mom, she freaked out. 'Don't you think that would look odd to see the guys all in pinstripe suits? They'd look like mobsters.' Wha?! Have you guys ever thought of pinstripe suits (and we're talking really subtle pinstripes...you probably wouldn't even see them until you got up close to him) as being informal or unfitting for a wedding? It will be a pretty casual wedding, so I'm not overly concerned about the formality, but I was shocked that anyone would find pinstripes offensive. What do you guys think?

I think it's a great idea! And I never would've thought "mobsters" if you hadn't mentioned your mom saying that...lol.

Yeah, me neither. I thought of Jack the Pumpkin King, but he's one of my favourite characters of all time, so I had no problem with having a bit of a 'gothic' look thrown in (it could work with the winter theme). Moms are so obnoxious.

I was at a wedding this in May where the groom and groomsmen were in pinstripe tuxes. It wasnt white on black, the tuxes themselves were black with a black satin stripe and it looked fabulous. Not 'mobster' at all. If you find tuxes with the white stripes thin and not too close together it will end up looking very classy.

For his wedding, my son is wanting a striped tux as well. He is looking at one called a "shadow stripe". A black on black.
