OK I need to cut this budget down and the only thing I can realy cut back on is the cost of the decorations. Here is what I need help with. The cowboy boot glass vases I was wanting to use would cost me $108 for the 8 that I need. Can you think of somethign else to use as the center pieces that wouldn't cost as much. I would still need to fill them as well. I am still doing the little cowboy hats as favor holders. But I need to figure out the tables and work it as in-expensive as I can but still look nice. ANY IDEAS GIRLS? All would be great.
Thanks

I picked up simple clear vases at Ikea for about $2.50 each.
You could get a small vase, put clear or coloured marbles from the dollar store in the bottem, fill with flowers. somthing big and fluffy like a peonie so you don't have to use as many stems. you could tie a little ribbon arround the vase for decoration too if you want!
I will look for a pic and post it for you :)

Just another thought... you could do a glass bowl with water and floating candles. Possibly put in a flower that will float as well.
Just a thought. :D

How bout a cactus? Do you have any of them that you could use on the tables? They would definetly have a western feel. :D And if you or your friends had some already you could borrow them for free.
You could line real cowboy hats with a plastic bag and fill with flowers.
This is cute too. Maybe you could buy a potted plant and decorate it with those little cowboy hats you are using for favors.

Could you use these for the vases? They are mugs but they are 6" tall.

Have you checked into renting centerpieces? For $3.00 each (rental), our centerpieces will have a gold and glass lantern, ivory rose candlering with the bow color that I request and the mirror for it to sit on. I couldn't buy the mirror for $3.00.
The place I'm renting from had all different types of centerpieces available. They had the glass bowl and mirror for floating candles, beautiful lamps, etc. Some have votive holders that go with them.

I posted some ideas that might help in your journal. Becky's cactus idea sounds cute. What do you HAVE to have and what can you neogotiate on? I know you want a western theme, and around here most of the people I know decorate there houses in western themes so I hopefully can give you cheap ideas.
This was the part I hated, the cut back. It hurt a little to have to give up something I wanted, but i ended up finding something i liked even better for less money. All I had to do was be willing to bend.

How about giving the tables a sort of 'Hay ride' theme? Instead of rose petals and candles, use small pieces of hay and/or straw or mini hay bales? Or get some cheap straw hats and greenery? I am sure you can find some nice ideas at a local party or hobby/craft store.

Here is an idea for you. You can purchase cheap horse shoes and make these. The only thing is, you need to know someone who can weld and has access to a welder to do it.

Here are the last two pics of them. One of them is without the glass bowl to give you a better idea.

PS. You can add marbles and a candle. Or a floating candle in water. Or do some sand with a candle on top...or flowers or whatever you want to do. But it still has the western feel to it! Best of luck!!

My suggestion; walk around a dollar store. You never know what you can find in there. Maybe you'll find a similar variant to the cowboy boots. Maybe a couple of different stemmed glasses with candles, floating or otherwise in the center and then some photo confetti. ;) Or regular confetti or rose petals or something...?

If you're really stuck on the cowboy boot idea, maybe you can find a few pair of kid's size boots (thrift stores, ebay, etc.) and use them to hold a vase or use a plastic bag to line them. You could even paint them with your wedding colors with some spraypaint!
Just a thought!
I like the cactus idea, too, though.

I once bought this shollow bonzi pot and filled it with earthy sand pebbles then found these great little aloe cactus candles for $2 each in a home decorator store, to save even more I mixed in some cheap pillor candles of different sizes but in green tones to suit the aloe candles. It was a gift to my sister and everyone loved it... I thought it would be wonderful as a centre piece on a dinning table because you could light the candles. Romantic, inexpensive while still fitting your theme. And you can reuse the pots in your new home.
Good Luck.
