I am looking for an idea for about 150 people, and it doesn't really matter what type of favor it is. I definitly want to make something though. It will be a good bonding activity for my mother inlaw to be and I.
Thanks,
Marie

Have you considered the Hershey Kiss Rosebud wedding favor? They are fairly simple to make and very beautiful! Everyone absolutely loves them!
They can be made into a gorgeous bouquet and handed out as individual rose buds to each guest. This idea works great for a tight budget. You can google it. There are a few sites that have free instructions on how to make them.

it depends on your theme, colors etc. SOmething really cute that Keely made is a teabag with a cute napkin and a cookie and a baggie tied with a bow. this was done cuz hers is a tea wedding. its beautiful and classy. Look in the DIY section for pictures.

What about wrapping Kisses in Tulle and saying the statement..here are some kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.
Homemade seed packets are always cool! You can get the baggies at Michaels and you would just have to print something on a paper and attach!

You could make jordan almond flowers. You can find free instructions of how to on the web or you can buy a kit to make them yourself at this website.

You could do candles with your names on them.. or make scrolls with a little poem and use a pair of craft sissors to make the edges look a little fancy and tie them with a ribbon.

All the suggestions are great. You could even make favor boxes and fill them with treats. You can find templates online.
Here is one I found. You could do it in the wedding colors and add a ribbon. Or add a label on it with the bride and groom's names.

Are you going to do a theme? Or just a something that is repeated through out your wedding? Like a certain flower, or a bow? Finding that might help to think of a favor.

I found these for .99 cents each - and while it isn't a 'technical' diy, it is a great idea for the entry into your reception and as a take away gift.
Here is the link .

There are some great, inexpensive papers out there...and EVERYONE knows SOMEONE who is a teacher and has access to a plethora of DIE CUTS (either at their site or at their county educational office)...there are a lot of die shapes that fold together to make great favor holders...
also, a "candy bar" is a cool, hip thing at weddings right now. Buy three or four of your favorite candies in bulk (think M&M's, jelly beans, etc)
Ad set them in large bowls on a side table. Scoops can be found and embellished. Those guests that want favors can pick their own...and it's a nice place for people to start conversations at the reception. Also...they're your favorite candies!!! Any left overs are your treat to take home!!! (or maybe donate to the class of the teacher that helped you???)

We are having a candy bar. It is very inexpensive. You search for candies online and you can guy like 40lbs for $25. You can also buy the candy according to color. You just have to set up a table and have tiers of glass jars with the candy in them. I am also getting the cellophane bags that real candy stores have. My bags are going to be personalized. Easy and under $300.

My colors are red ivory and black too!!
Next Valentines day and even xmas i will be buying BAGS of m&ms in red and white- (Ehh who cares if they are not exactly ivory) I will have these in black bags of tulle at the walkway inside the room. these are not my favors, but just something i wanted to do, plus i looked after this v-day and saw bags of these red ones at walgreens on 75% off and then a couple days later 90% off------ if your flexible, keep an eye open and you could probably get sales after holidays :)
