I'm at home today because I have a sinus infection. I am a firm believer in the fact that if you are contagious you shouldn't be spreading your funk. So I am laying here around 1 on the couch watching tv because that is about all the decongestant that I am on will allow me to do. The doorbell rings and I run to answer it because I am expecting some deliveries this week and it is about the time the mailman and UPS guy usually drop things off. Instead of either of those guys there is alittle girl maybe around 7 or 8 standing on my front step. She asks me if she can come in and sell me some candy. As soon as I hear this I look around to see who is there with her. There is a guy maybe late teens to early 20's standing just on the other side of my shrub where he is just out of sight. Immediately I get suspicious and just say no that I really don't have any money on me right now for candy. They walk away and start to head down the black stoping at the houses as they go. I think the lady next door answered too. I might have to go over and talk to her later if I feel better. Then all of the sudden it dawns on me:
1. It is one o'clock in the afternoon, why isn't that little girl in school. All the districts around here should be in in session today.
2. Why would she want to "come in" to sell me candy?
3. Why would you go door to door in our neighborhood when 99.9% of the people have professional jobs with 9-5 hours at 1 in the afternoon?
4. If he was her dad or big brother or uncle or something why wasn't he standing there with her or behind her just off of the step instead of just out of my line of sight?
I actually called the police and reported suspicious activity. We have had a spike in home invasions in Pittsburgh, not so much our neighborhood but the city in general. The police seemed about as interested as I would be in watching paint dry on a wall. My tax dollars at work!

That is scarey. I hate it when the doorbell rings and i'm alone. Although here we've got a buzzer into the building that also has a security camera. I can see who's outside the building before i let anyone in.
There was a robbery across the hall from me a couple years ago. They broke in through the window that wasn't too high off the ground, then left through the front door with all their stuff. Nobody thought much of it because there are so many students who live in my buildiing so people are moving stuff arround all the time.

We don't have a doorbell...we have a screen door that creaks like crazy and then a screened in porch that sounds like the person is walking through a hollow room, then our door. It scares me to death when someone knocks on our door when I'm home alone because I know they really wanted to be knocking on that door...they had to climb a flight of steps to get there!
Good thing your instincts overtook your decongestant daze! Too bad they didn't do anything for the police...I can honestly say I'm not real impressed with the police that we pay for either.

That is pretty suspicious.
Are you feeling better today? I hope so.

I am doing pretty good today. I'm still sneezing like crazy. With this weather I don't know if it is sinuses or allergies to be honest.

I get sinus infections quite a bit. They suck!!
Is it still in the 50's there? It is pretty unseasonably warm here lately too. Our snow is almost gone again!! We haven't been able to go sliding in weeks. There is not any where near enough snow even for a snowman! Its crazy! :bbconfused:

It hasn't snowed here since Christmas. The weather changes daily around here. You will get a couple of wet cold (20s-30s) days followed by a couple bright sunny days in the mid 50s and 60s. The other day I came home and opened the windows upstairs and changed into shorts to do some house work. Today I am so cold I can't stand it.
With the cold and wet followed by the heat again I am wondering if in fact all these sinus infections I have had aren't mold and mildew allergies.

That could be. Have you gone to the dr? Sometimes I had to get antibiotics or I just kept getting them.

No I haven't gone to the doctor. I'm not running a fever, the mucus is still clear (tmi, I know), I don't have sore ears or a throat. Plus it only lasts a day or two then goes away on its own. So, it is telling me that if it is sinus infection it is viral. My doctor won't give me an antibiotic for that. Which is good because he shouldn't. My old doctor was the antibiotic king. You went in for a check up and left with a script for penicillin. This and my mother wonders why she is sick all the time and has to take all these designer antibiotics....because her body is immune to the regular ones.

It would be awful to build an immunity to penacillin!

I get some really bad sinus infections too. I've been stuffy for a week or so now. I figure the weather is really playing a factor into it. Its been really warm then it will cool down alot then get warm again. I don't feel like i can tollerate the coldness as much as i usually could.
Wireton Willy Says we're going to get an early spring this year! No doubt considering its above freezing today! Yipee!

Who in the hell is Wireton Willy?
I don't know...but I LIKE HIM ALREADY!!!!!!!!! :)
I'm in the process of getting sick. I can feel it in the back of my throat and in my nose. I have a cancor sore to prove it (always get those right before I get really yucky colds...the kind that knock you out more than the cold medicine does). Within a week I can guarantee nasty yuckiness! Bring on the tea! Which brings me to another thing...can you guys find Celestial Seasons Sore Throat Tea anymore? I can't and that was the cold remedy I lived off of (that and my cold bag...you squeeze it and sniff-it works better than VICS and it's herbal!). I miss it! I'll pay big bucks for it if anyone can find it...lol. Well, maybe not big bucks...I do have a wedding coming up! :)

I'll check at Whole Foods when I go this week. They always have stuf flike that. I'm suprised that Giant Eagle doesn't carry it.
If you can't find it, try the Ayoub Cure. (Named after the dentist in Sean's dad's office building)
Make one cup of black tea and let it steep until if is as dark as it is going to get. To that add, the juice of 1/2 lemon, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 shot of whiskey (your choice). Drink that down and go to bed. I guarantee it works.

Around here it is Punxsatawney Phil. Phil is da' bomb. Even though he always predicts 6 weeks of winter. I guess it won't be so bad since we haven't had winter here yet.

It's always been Puxsatawney Phil for us! No matter where I was...I didn't know there was more than one official groundhog on Groundhog's Day. Boy, I'm feeling blonde at the moment...lol
