Ok... so I have pictured in my mind since we got married of different ways to tell hubby when I am expecting. I want it to be a sweet surprise for him... So I will take a test and go to the dr to confirm before he knows anything (or at least try to)

But I want to tell him in a cute way to surprise him! But I have a few ideas and can't pick one. I was planning on getting a little bib that says "I love my daddy" and have it on his pillow on the bed. And then I thought, of getting a puzzle made of me on the wedding day that says "Congrats Daddy!" (you can get puzzles like this at Walgreens) and I keep thinking of different cute little ways.....

I was wondering if anyone else have thought about how they would tell the daddy to be?? I would love to hear some great ones! (OR am I just weird and the only one that thinks about this kinda stuff?)

You are not weird, I think its cute. I remember when my brother and his wife were expecting, they found out around christmas and gave my parents a little gift bag that said to Grandmom and Pop Pop and inside were a pair of baby booties and a newborn diaper.

I have a friend who told her parents by giving them "I  Grandma" and "I  Grandpa" picture frames with her first ultrasound picture in it. Something like that would be cute... of course, it might be a long wait until an ultrasound, but you could always do something like some type of Daddy picture frame and a note inside saying maybe something like congratulations, or in 9 months our baby's photo will be here...

I thought these were pretty good....

Propose Fatherhood. Why not recreate how your husband proposed marriage to you, but instead propose fatherhood (http://www.justmommies.com/articles/creative-ways-to-tell-your-husband.shtml#)? Take him back to where he popped the question and recreate the scene. Instead of a ring box, hand him a bracelet box with your positive pregnancy test inside and ask, "Will you be a father?"

A Momento. Announce your pregnancy to your husband with a souvenier that he can keep on his desk or dresser. Take a picture of your positive pregnancy test and frame it with the words, "Positive proof that in nine months you will be the best dad around, just wait, you'll see."

A t-shirts even you can love. There's no double about it, men love printed t-shirts. While this can usually be the bain of us women, this can finally work in our favor. Give him a gift of a t-shirt that says, "Soon to be the World's Best Dad, " and watch his face light up. Now maybe you can retire one of his free concert t-shirts that you can't stand.

I think a picture frame with "our new baby" Or something like that with a little note saying "congrats daddy" inside or something like that.

LOL I thought I would do something cute too .... and I wanted to - really I did but after I had been to the pharmacy (you used to have to bring in a pee sample first thing in the morning) and I got the news, the best that I could do was to remember to ask for the stick thingy. I put it inside a card, rushed home only to find him still asleep. I couldn't wait for him to wake up so I shook him awake and I was so excited that I shoved the envelope in his face. My mistake was expecting an ecstatic reaction to the news, when he wasn't even hardly awake enough to understand what was going on.

Just thought of something else after reading your idea ....

Does he read the morning paper? You could take out a classified ad and set the paper in front of him over his morning coffee.

OMG these ideas are awesome ladies!!! Thank you!! He proposed at a wedding expo infront of thousands on stage... so I probably can't do that... and no, he doesn't read the paper (slacker!:) But I never thought of the picture frame, thats neat! ANd the saying inside "Positive Proof...." These are great!

Yea, I hope that I'll even be able to wait to tell him!! I really hope I can! Now, I just have to wait til NEXT summer to start TLC and hold on to these patiently!! Have I mentioned that I am NOT a patient person? ;)

hehe i know what your talking about.. i had been thinking i would wait to tell him and bring him to the mall and have like an ornament made or something that says "and baby makes three" Welcome baby Ross! or something like a t-shirt--- i would tell him i needed to do somehting else like get something made for someone else and then when the thing was ready i would say look how cute it turned out and then hand it to him.. I like the idea of having something he can keep forever. Maybe you could go to some place like things remembered and have something made that says welcome baby (last name) and put CONGRATS DADDY or something on it
:)

I've been wondering about that too (odd, don't ya think since I'm TNTC ;) )
You could make him a mix-tape with a bunch of lullabyes :)
Or you could get yourself a t-shirt with an arrow to your belly, that says "surprise!" - I'm sure you could find one. And wear it in the evening when he comes home :)

These are all such cute ideas! I have never even thought about doing something like this, but I love it!I like the picture frame one because I am sentimental and love photos. I also love the bib on the pillow- so simple yet very effective!

If he's a computer geek you can put it in the background of his computer...?

My husband and I did this to my inlaws when we told them we were pregnant again. We had them over for dinner and had baby back ribs, baby carrots cooked in brown sugar, baby green salad. You get the idea! We had everything labled with what it was and they still had no clue as to what was up, we had to spell it out for them. If I remember correctly I even had a menu that I had made with my computer, listing everything as well. It was cute and I LOVED putting it all together.

haa asked my mom today how she told my dad and she said after she went to the gyno she went and bought a maternity shirt (she was SOOOO SOOOO SOOOO THIN- LIKE 90 POUNDS THAT A MATERNITY SHIRT WOULD DEF. BE NOTICABLE) and went up to their business and my dad said "WHY ARE YOU WEARING A NIGHT SHIRT ?!?!" Then she realied she had worn it backwards (she changed in the car) the front of the shirt said "baby on board" hahahha silly mommy!!!

you could do a build up too! Like the idea with the baby food items (baby carrots, etc, awesome idea!) and than move on to more obvious... make it a fun game! See how quick he is to notice! I would love to do that if I was preggers.... but my hubby doesn't like surprises =( So I'd probably just have to tell him out right *sigh*

These are soo great!! Now I wish I didn't have to wait!!!! We aren't starting TTC til NEXT summer (Jun 09) So.... that stinks. But... I think that I am leaning toward a couple of ideas.... I still like the bib on the pillow (its subtle enough)... and I really like the pic frame idea (but I can't decide what I'd want in it) and the computer screen thing!! He is definitely a geek, but I'm hoping he would notice it.

Great ideas!!!!

My sister and BIL announced to the family with picture frames. Inside the frame, it said "Coming in May 2006.....Baby P" It was so cute!

DH and I are TTC. He'll be in the house when I take the test anyways, I'm sure I'll run screaming and crying down the hall with the positive test :)

When I told my ex-husband I was expecting our third child I went to the party supply store and found little teeny tiny plastic babies. I made ice cubes with the babies in them. Then that night I made a nice dinner and got him a big glass of ice water filled with those special ice cubes. He took a couple sips before he noticed. It was fun though, we used the left over ice cubes to tell his Mom the same way the next day.

I posted this on a thread of its own, but just in case no one reads it, here it is again! So I just read from HisMuse about her Dr. Seuss wedding vows and though that this would be sooooo neat to use in telling daddy your pregnatnt, if you could switch up the words to ask daddy to be if he is ready or what not.... But, I am not creative at all or a good writer... so I was wondering if anyone can come up with anything to turn these wedding vows into dad vows:

Will you take her as your wife?
Will you love her all your life?

Will you have, and also hold
Just as you have at this time told?

Will you love through good and bad?
Whether you're happy or sad?

Will you love her if you're rich?
Or if you're poor, and in a ditch?

Will you love her when you're fit,
And also when you're feeling sick?

Will you love with all your heart?
Will you love till death you part?

Yes, if you'll love her through and through,
Please answer with these words:

I DO!

Anyone creative enough to help me take this on??

Reading through this thread has made me cry...right here at my desk at work! We've been trying to conceive for about two months now, and I always wanted us to find out together. But I kind of like these ideas better! Especially the I-Love-My-Daddy bib on the pillow. That's my favorite! Just thinking of Jamie as a daddy makes me tear up...

When we were on our honeymoon we ate at this restaurant where you could color and write on the tablecoth. We had been talking about NOT wanting to bring home a certain "souvenir" from our honeymoon, so DH secretly wrote somethng then took a pic with my camera and handed it back to me-he had written "You're going to be a grandma!" on the tablecloth and wanted to noncahlantly leave that pic in with the other ones so when our moms were going through our pics they would see it and freak out lol!! Needless to say, we weren't pregnant... but it would've been SO cute!!

Another funny story I wanted to share. My SIL found out she was pregnant on valentines day, or around then. Her birthday was also around that time, so they celebrated both on the same day. My BIL got her an Iphone, and some other really expensive things, and then when opened his present he got (in his words) a shirt that was too small (it said I love Daddy) and pee stick lol!!!

I'll probably hand him a piece of wood, saw and a hammer. When he asks me why, I'll tell him "It's for the baby cradle you promised to make. Better get started cause you only got 9 months"

Here is what I FINALLY came up with:

You already took me as your wife.
Now will you be a dad for life?

Will you have and also hold,
this precious one until we're old?

Will you love through good or bad?
I know you'll be the bestest dad!

"I love you Daddy" is this one will say
because we will be blessed, come what may!

I'm so excited to start parenthood!
I never really thought we could.

I love you with all my heart!
I know this is just the start!

But if you're ready to start this chapter of our lives anew,
then just turn around and say "I DO!"

What do you think??
