Help! I am making my invitations and have the wording I want to use. However, my problem is.....

Long story....we are doing the destination wedding. most of guests are staying on the Vegas strip...these are the ones I am concerned about..the others will have rented a car. I am thinking our wedding will start about 5:30 at Lake Mead...ceremony is about 10-15 minutes TOPS. Our dinner cruise starts at 7 for boarding. In between the ceremony and dinner cruise we have to take our fur child back to the hotel (approx 25-30 minutes away). My question is..without being to "wordy" on instructions...what would you put..Bus leaves at 4:30/ ceremony 5:30 / there will be a gap in time for the guests but the bus should be able to take them to a restuarant/bar at the pier for a while before the cruise. All this seems out of control...and I don't know what to do, or say and have to get these out in the mail hopefully by the middle of February at the latest. I need to have actually head count by April 17th. Yikes.!

Thanks for you help in advance!

Ok -- let's take this one step at a time.

If you need headcount by April 17, you need to give people about 8 weeks' notice. Let's fudge an extra week for your follow up and such. Which means invited guests should receive them on Valentine's Day. Aww.

What "bus" are you talking about? Bus from the strip to your ceremony site? To your boat site?

People are grown ups. Tell them ceremony at 5:30, OR cruise at 4:30 and they'll be where they need to be.

You may want to consider an itinerary or "day of events" card inside the invitation detailing these things. You can't cram all of it on an invite, nor should you try.

I apologize..I was getting ahead of myself. We are thinking about renting a bus to get the people to and from the wedding so nobody has to worry about driving. We would have one pick up spot (wherever my parents are staying) and it would drive everyone to the Lake Mead Overlook ....and then down to the docks for the reception. Lastly, when the cruise is over, it would drive them back to the same spot they were picked up. Though I still go back and forth on the bus rental...I do get a free limo with our wedding package..(my and fh are not using it as we are taking our dog with us and we have to use our car for that) I could have the limo just pick up the parents and not worry about the rest? lol

I agree with StJohnBride, you are providing them with a bus to get them back and forth, they could at least get there on time! I say just tell them what time they need to be where and everything will work out from there. They will be where they need to be when they need to be there:frogg:

You can say "for your convenience, transportation to the ceremony will be provided. A bus will leave Navy Pier at 4:30."

Yah i agree that you should send a pamphlet or make it available at the hotel. You could just state the start times on the invite and in a welcome package include
"transportation..... blah blah ceremony..... to the restaraunt and wait for the bride and grooms arrival to board the dinner cruise blah blah." You can be wordy on the information sheet.
