TARGET!

I really liked the bird cage idea for the cards on the gift table, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $45 on the wimpy thing they called a bird cage in the wedding aisle at Party City, so I was planning on doing something else. Well my mother and I went to Target yesterday to pick up a set of floaters so I can test how long they'll last, and there, on the clearance rack, is a TON of vintage birdcages! REALLY BEAUTIFUL ones! Well, we grabbed the biggest card we could find in the card section and tested it in the two we liked and got this beautiful birdcage! I even have a home for it in my apt. until the wedding! It was 1/2 off! It's HUGE and I only paid $20 for it!

Dont feel tooo bad Becky. Around here, Target is just like Wal Mart only there stuff is a little more expensive. I still prefer Wal Mart.

Ive heard of those. Never saw one though. They were going to build one in Tyler when they built the new one a couple of years ago (right next to Super Wal Mart!) but they just ended up building a bigger version of what was we already had.

LOL!! THanks Cindy I feel better that you like Walmart's prices better. Maybe someday we will get a target here.

Hey Gwen where is there a Target near you? Cause I vacation near you.....
Might have to plan a road trip! LOL!

CindySue

oooohhhh yea. no. there are not grocery stores at our walmarts. They have put in a small section where there is milk, juice, eggs, bread, and frozen stuff like pizza and veggies. But not what i would consider a grocery store.
I love grocery stores in the states. There are sooooo many things that we don't get here. The cereal isle is my favourite. We've gotten some really neat things like timon and pumba cereal. The most crazy thing we have here is lucky charms and captain crunch!

I have to let kids take turns picking the cereal each week because everybody want something different.

Our Walmart is like that too Jenn. Not alot of food but the stuff they have is priced extremely well!

I have been to some super Walmarts but they are always so far from home I couldn't really get a whole lot of groceries since they wouldn't make it home. I see there is a Target in Concord, NH. That may be doable for me. To think I have been to Concord many times and I never saw a Target while I was there. ROAD TRIP!! LOL!!

We dont' have Target's in Canada (well not that I know of).

I love the birdcage idea, I've been looking on Ebay but can't figure out where else to look. Anyone from Canada know of any good places?

Try a Micheal's Craft store. I think i have seen them there. Or an antique shop. Might cost you a little more there. I will keep a watch for ya. What part of Canada are you from?

Yes there is onein concord. That is the one I go to. We are supposed to be getting one arond the Laconia area but not sure when or where. I like target because there selection of things is better then wal-mart. But I don't like about it is they dont do lay-a-ways. I have to do lay-a-way if I am going to get anything these days.

The wal mart in Concord is a Super Wal-mart. Love thier prices on the food. The one here has jsut updated so their food section is a little bigger but not a full fledge grocerie store.

Actually, mine is one of the ones that looks like an old-vintage birdcage. I believe it's for decorating the home. It's MUCH bigger than that one and the paint is kind of scratched off a bit to give it that classic vintage look. It's GORGEOUS! I've always wanted one to decorate the house...didn't think I'd get one to double at the reception as well! :)

I like the birdcage idea too :) And I Love Target! We have a Super Walmart like 5 mins from our house and a Super Target about 20 mins away ... I will usually go to the Target first ;)

O I got to say that I hate grocery shopping at Super Walmart or Super Target. They have a limited selection and ther eisn't anyone around to help or give service. It annoys me. I'll take Whole Foods or Giant Eagle anyday.

Now, I don't go grocery shopping at Target, I love Publix ... mostly because it is less than 5 mins from my house. I go to Kroger sometimes too ... which is about 10 from our house ;)

Lol Becky......me neither! Well we do have 1 of them (Kroger) but the others are Brookshires and Albertsons. Oh and we have a Sav-A-Lot which is like a $ store grocery store.

Or those either ;) I am sure it is a regional thing.

The Kroger and Publix are popular here, but we also have 'Food Giant', 'Winn-Dixie' and 'Ingles' ... those are all I can think of now.

My home town used to have a Winn-Dixie but they closed it about 4 years ago.

We have Krogers back home in WV. But around here we have the two Pittsbrugh chains, Shop and Save which is so ghetto (and they keep expired stuff on the shelves) and Giant Eagle which is very nice. But may favorite that I go to is Whole Foods. They are national chain that specializes in all natural and organic foods. Since Giant Eagle expanded its natural and organics sections along with it's international section I don't get to Whole Foods as often though.

I used to go to Food Lion when I lived in the DC area and when I would stay at my grandparent's summer place in NC.

But the best by far is the Piggly Wiggly, I don't think I have ever been to one but I bet it would be cool to say, "I'm headin' down to Piggly Wiggly!"

Piggly Wiggly and Food Lion were both prominant around here too, but Piggly Wiggly closed when I was still in high school 15 years ago and Food Lion about 10 years ago.

We had a Piggly Wiggly not far from where we lived when I was little, I think they may still be around in other areas.

LOL!! That would be funny to say. I have never heard of any of the stores any of you listed. I remember a fred myers(I think that was the name?) when I was in Oregon. They were like a super walmart. I think that was the first super store I had ever been in.

Piggly Wigglys are still around in the deep south. I have a little shopping basket in my closet that someone hoisted from one of them for me. In fact it is the basket that I am storing all of my wedding stuff in.

When I delivered pizza for Pizza Hut, we had a network of grocery stores that if was set up if you were going to certain parts of the city and had forgotten to grab the two liter on the way out the door at the restaurant. The Piggly Wiggly was the one I used the most because I could never seem to remember the two liters for that part of town and that was the only place that carried Pepsi products in that area...I can say I've shopped in a Piggly Wiggly...more than once!

As far as grocery stores go, my mother's area has Krogers, I can't remember the grocery store we used to go to all the time in the soo that was open 24 hours (a college student's heaven during finals week!) and I went to Sack-n-Save in Texas (although, I bought my meat from Krogers). Now I hit Save-a-Lot (which I also used to shop at in the soo) and go to Giant Eagle for meat. I like the gas discount!

I do the same thing! And then I walk around gloating about how I only paid 30-cents for a gallon of gas. I'm the queen of the world that week! :)
