Im a few lbs overweight, not anything big. But mostly i want to tone myself, not lose like 40 lbs or anything. maybe lose 10 lbs tops. well my joints are totally dead. i played baseball, volleyball, dance, gymnastics, and did color guard growing up. i bought a denise austin video and did it for over a month 3-4 times a week thinking that the reason my joints hurt was because i wasnt working out enough. well i could barely walk. it hurt my knees, ankles, hips, shoulders - everything.

im at a loss of how im supposed to work out if it always hurts my body. i was going to a gym also but it killed my joints as well. as a student, i belong to the rec center and they do yoga there but i dont think any of the schedules fit in with my work and school so i need something i can do at home.

i have a bike but didnt know if just bike riding around the neighborhood would be enough to get rid of my saddlebags lol. i also tried walking/running everyday and working out with my fiancee. but he lost like 5 lbs in a week and didnt hurt at all and i lost nothing and was in total pain so he just made me feel like even more ****. its like i can see definition in my abs and i have the lines down the middle and the side, but my stomach is still out really far. does that make sense? i have already lost 15 lbs by diet alone so now im just working on toning my muscles so i dont jiggle when i walk lol.

anyone else dealt with this problem?

How bout swimming? I am not very good at it, but i know that every time I've made an attempt to use it as a workout I feel great! I've got some issues with my back and hips and stuff, mostly from running, and everyone recommends swimming to me. Biking will work your booty for sure! Can you go for long rides (like 15-20miles) where you live? Those kill me and my legs feel great afterwards. Also, I love the Firm workout videos, they're not very high impact, its a lot of strength training. You're not bouncing around all that much....maybe try that?

Are you available to do water aerobics somewhere close. This is recommended for joint problems and exercise. I have the same problems myself from to many years of cheerleading, gymnastics, and such. Plus my shoulders dislocate as well. I used to do water aerobics all the time with fellow hospital workers. My joints never hurt and I toned up and lost weight.

I cant' do this now so I just started walking and doing pilates.
