Our first apartment! (journal)

Sooo... we are moving in on January 7th.
It's one of those student appartments we applied to have together. I haven't actually seen the appartment, but it's on the 4th floor, has a little kitchen (table, fridge, heating plaques, and a sink), closets, and two twin beds we'll just push together hehe :)

And it has a bathroom with a shower and a tub. At this point that's all I know!

I'm getting really excited about moving in, decorating, although there isn't much I can actually do to it, especially considering the fact that we have to move out in May/June anyway and find another place, but I still hope to make it really homey :)

This is the bedding we've registered for and we'll probably get it before the wedding though!

In "real life" it's actually a lighter color. It's ivory :)
We'll have a matching towel set !! I'm getting really excited!

I'd like to get some nice plants too! I need plants that are fairly low maintenance, look good, are easily transportable, and live well in an apartment. I'm not really a fan of lucky bamboo though :(
I LOVE bonzais but they are high-maintenance and I'll only get another one when I'm settled down enough to bring the one I left at my parent's house with me.
I like green plants, but I also like flowers. I'm hesitating between growing flowers or just regularly buying flower arrangements and making them last.

The weirdest part about moving is :

* Taking pictures off the wall, or posters. They give such a personality to a place! My room is now no longer really mine hehe

In a couple of weeks, I'll be all moved in again!

I look forward to reading this journal more... My fh and I are kinda "settling" for an apartment as our first home right now- we aren't sure we want to live that close to his parents (within 20 minutes) for long- and I'm finally getting really excited about it (he moves in BEFORE we get married, I move in after we get married).

Keep writing, and post pics when you can!

It's not a very large tub - I can lay down in it, but he's too tall and has to bend his legs a bit. But it's still nice to have one :)
We don't have a seperate shower though, which is a shame because showers can be sooo much more practical than tubs sometimes (because of the doors/walls as opposed to curtains) I wish we had both.

I'm so excited for you. Good luck creating a homey environment! It's gonna be great. :frogg: Maybe you could get an ivy...they're pretty low maintenance!

Good luck getting everything together! I understand about making it home even though you won't be there that long. Matt and I will only live in this apartment now for a total of a year, we only have a little over 4 months left. It's hard to really do too much when you are not planning to be there long-term. There are some little things you can do to it though to really make it your own!

I also wish we had a tub :( We just have a shower sadly. But when we move I'm sure we will have a tub.
