I have seen this a few times, it is not odd at all :)
Some people do it at the rehearsal dinner, some do it at the reception to give the guests something to do while the couple finishes up pictures after the ceremony :frogg:

I've also seen and heard of this a lot. At the begining of the reception while guests are being seated and such. I really like the idea!

We did a growing up montage with our videographer of Shawn and I. We had it played at the reception while dinner was served. We had pictures of Shawn and I individually set to music in three sections. One of me, one of Shawn, and pictures of us and our friends during our relationship! We got rave reviews about it..The best part....WE GOT IT FOR FREE!! I had gone to a bridal show and one of their offers was a free growing up montage if your wedding was on the day of a home game for Penn State!!
