I would like to rent my wedding dress because I cannot afford to purchase a couture dress. Can anyone recommend rental places in Savannah? I'm getting married in May.

Do you have your heart set on a couture dress? Or is it the uniqueness factor that turns you on? Honestly -- if you're getting married in May you've got plenty of time to wait for the $99 sale at David's Bridal or another wedding shop, and you also have time to shop around on Ebay.
If your heart is truly set on having a one-of-a-kind, you also have enough time to make your own dress yourself. Buying your fabric and having a dressmaker put it together can often times cost 50% or more less than buying one from a 'brand name'.
I'm making my own dress. My dressmaker charges $22/hour but we've worked out a deal involving sweat equity and she is going to pick my brains about fashion in the Renaissance and early 1600's, about which she knows nothing, and then knock off some money for picking my brains :). I also bought my own fabric at a steep discount -- $6.50/yard of 54" wide dupioni silk, when it was originally $25-$30/yard -- instead of her buying the fabric and then having to factor in that (plus $22/hour and expenses let's not forget)
I will wind up with a dress that, if made in a couture house like Worth or Vera Wang or Dolce & Gabbana, etc, would probably cost about $6000.
By making it myself it will probably wind up between 500-800.
But you could spend that in a store, I hear you saying -- why even bother doing it yourself?
My answer is simple. I do not look well in white, I loathe frilly, froofy, puffy wedding dresses, my body is too out of fashion for the current trends (which seem to be all there is in wedding fashion -- are there ANY tried and true classic designs????) and I greatly dislike everything I've currently seen in the stores. The few exceptions I *have* seen and liked have all come from Ebay or non-traditional vendors, and they have ALL been found and posted by brides on this very website.
But seriously. Try Ebay or Craigslist. You never know what you might be able to find -- and get a STEAL on. One of the ladies here recently won her dream dress on Ebay and paid a *fraction* of what she would have bought in a high-end couture shop. Same dress. Different venue. Still had the designer's name in it :)

Also, depending on what your budget is, you can check out bridesmaid dresses that come in ivory, white, or whatever color you're looking to wear. I know Bill Levkoff has some cute ones.

Check out some of these styles:
602
451
452
550
966
and you can order some of the styles cheaper through House of Brides online:

You can also check Ebay, local classifieds, Craigslist, etc for GREAT deals. Maybe you could post pics of dresses that you like, and we can try to find some that are in your price range.
Good luck!
