So like over 3 years ago I used to get calls in the middle of the night from a "private" number.
They always called very late at night and I used to answer but they would never say anything so I stopped answering and whether I answered or not they always call back 3 times in a row and then that was it for the night.
They never leave a message they never talk, it's just odd.
Last time I called my phone company they told me to change my phone number, I don't want to change my phone number. I wanted them to put a trace on the phone, but they said they wouldn't do that unless they were threatening or something, they just really wanted me to change my phone number. I haven't called recently to see if they would put a trace on it this time.
Well recently they started up again.
Has anyone ever gotten odd phone calls?

It's my cell phone they are calling, so I don't think *69 works.

The problem is that they are blocking their number, so *69 wouldn't work on a landline either in this case.
Something about people's right to privacy, if I really want to find out who it is I have to go get a supeona, which means I have to file a report... it's really ridiculous.
I think it would just be way easier if the cell company would trace the call, they could call the person and tell them to knock it off and then if they refuse, then I could go about the business of filing a report and all that junk.

This girl in high school that was a complete bully put my picture and phone number on a bulleten that said "she's cute and ****s on the 1st date" OH MY GOD!! She harrassed me on aim and over text messages so my mom got on aim and told her that she was going to print everything out and sue her for harrassment. I changed my number and it all stopped. i was a freshman when all of that stuff happened....... I think she made me into kind of a B**** when it comes to females now (until I get to know them) UGH

I get this every now and then, I just don't answer the phone. In my case my cell phone is tied to my business so it is likely someone trying to sell me something ;)
Every once in a while one of these people will leave a message that confirms they are spamming me ... do they really think I will call them back :nosey:
We get it at home sometimes too, again I just don't answer.

Haha nice, I wouldn't expect spam phone calls!
ETA: Well aside from the usual telemarketing, but they don't tend to block their number.

I get the same thing on my cell, home, and business line (The Business line they can't block, cause it's a toll free number, so their caller id must show on my end by law) and I noticed that they are those prerecorded messages that take a few seconds to kick in. I get them at all hours of the day. Once at 3am, so I called back the company and told them if they ever called me at that time again, I'd hunt them down and rip their tongues out. Needless to say, never heard back from them.
It's part of having a phone I guess, those annoying calls.

Last week it was 1:18AM (I checked my phone log) last night it was 11:15 PM (so not as late but I was up at 4AM this morning, so I went to bed early).
A few years ago when I got the same calls it was always between 11pm and 3am)

I have a couple of people who call who have private numbers for certain reasons so I will answer the phone only because it could be one of them. But i also the time of day they would be calling. SO if it is any other time of day I don't answer it. We recently got our phone through our cable company. Rather the number is private or not I can go on line and it will show me the number. My ID may say private but I can still see who it is.
I don't knwo about a cell phone but I do know with a land line you can have it so private calls can not even ring through. If some oen with a private number wants to call you they have to hit some type of number on the phone before dialing your number and then your number will show up on the ID. Maybe check and see if this is an option on cell phones. You would think it would be as high tec as they have gotten these days.

If it is a telemarketer they aren't allowed to call after either 8 or 9 PM I believe. With the hours you are getting calls, I'd say it's kids or something trying to be funny/annoying.
Maybe if you kept a written record of all the times and dates when they call, whether they say anything when you pick up, leave a message, etc, you can show it to the phone company and they will justify that as harrasement. Maybe even call the local police station and ask if they have any suggestions. You can exactly file charges if you don't know who to file them against so maybe the police can help there. They have a little more pull with phone companies.

I know that you can do *67 and then dial the number and it'll come up unknown on the person's phone. We used to do that all the time to people we knew lol, like friends. That happened to one of my friend's several times and she called the cops first, and they said to call the phone company first, and if they kept doing it, then they can have them traced. It never happened again.
