Do/did you serve or plan to save the top tier of your wedding cake (traditionally to eat on your first anniversary)?

I gave mine away! We had 3 tiers, 3 different flavors and that was my least favorite, so we gave it to our friends. On our anniversary I'll go back to the bakery and get a small cake in a good flavor!

We're having cupcakes, so there won't be a tier. But I doubt we'll save one for the anniversary.

I can't decide! I think we will cute the other tier and if we need the top we will serve it!
I wonder if I can even ship it back to Cal, from Hawaii!

We're doing cupcakes, so there won't be a tier to save. We plan on getting a special cake from our baker on our anniversary.

I am unsure yet... my FSIL & her DH just had their 1 yr anniversary and they ate their cake. It was not good, and it had been properly frozen, sealed, and thawed... I have heard of people eating it on their 1 mo anniversary, don't know exactly why?

I am def. saving mine!!!! I am looking forward to our one year anniversary and me SMASHING cake in his face b/c we are NOT doing that at the wedding!!! Hehehe
I had a friend who took her top layer and cut it into 12 peices, wrapped each one individually and they celebrated every MONTH with a peice. I thought that was pretty cool!!!

we saved ours (to eat on our 1 yr.) BUT once our 1 yr. came around we pulled it out of the freezer and it even smelled gross SO, we just bought ourselves a small (okay, okay big) cheesecake and re-inacted out eating cake at the reception LOL

We served our top tier (only 2 tiers), but saved all the leftovers. I froze the ice cream cake, we ate/threw out the rest of the plain cake.

Served it the night of the wedding and anything left we ate the following day.

Well we had planned on taking our top with us on our honeymoon and having it on our while we were there, but when we got to the reception, our cake lady had boxed up a special cake that she made look just like the top of our actual cake. So we were able to serve the top part of our cake and instead of taking the cake with us to Florida, we just put it into the deep freeze. She prepared it however you are suppose to before you freeze it, so I hope it is at least somewhat decent! haha we will be taking it with us on our anniversary trip to Disney, and we will eat it on our anniversary night after our dinner and fireworks!

We are going to save it. Our caterer said if it's gross at a year then she will make us another.

We'll serve it and just get another cake on the 1st anniversary. It's easier since we don't have a "real" freazer, just one of those student things that can keep ice-cream and fish for maybe a week or so.

My cake baker doesn't included our top tier in the per person numbers and specially packages it for us. So we will save ours.

I've heard it tastes disgusting. Maybe we'll just buy another couple cupcakes around the time of our anniversary.

We are saving ours. I had my my senior pic on my high school graduation cake, and we saved that and froze it...it was still good a year or so later.

For our wedding cake we are doing a Black Forest sheet cake with our picture on it so there will be no top tier to keep!! Which is fine because on our anniversary we can go get another cake and eat it then!!

WE had heart shaped cup cakes and a heart shaped smal cake for the taop. ( you would have to see it to understand it ) We didn't serve the top and we didn't save it either as we had a 7 hour drive home in the middle of summer. WE left it at my sisters an dI am sure it got eaten.
I think that we will save ours for a few weeks and eat it the first night that we move into our first apartment together. It will still be very special for us, but we won't be worried about it tasting funky. I'm sure we'll go to a nice romantic dinner on our 1st anniversary so we'll just have a nice dessert there.

Because I want to follow some kind of tradition, I want to save it... but knowing how I seem to be wasteful with food... it will probably in the long run not get eaten on the one year and go to waste... but at least keep if I change my mind.. right?
