Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and would like some advice. I'm from Scotland, U.K and myself and my hubbie to be are travelling to Las Vegas with 20 guests for our wedding on september 7th 2006. We have booked our wedding ceremony which includes a unity candle ceremony, what does this consist of & who performs it? this is not something we do in Britian. Also we cannot decide what to do after the ceremony, any ideas? thanks.

Hi and welcome to this forum.
I'm not 100% sure what a unity candle is, but I think it has somethign to do with uniting the 2 families.

Sounds fun and exciting to have a wedding in Vegas. I wish we were doing something small like that sometimes!

The unity candle thing is usually 2 taper candles with a larger candle in the middle. It is said to symbolize the 2 become one thing. Sometimes the parents will each light one of the little candles and then the couple will then take their candle and light the center one together.

Extreme congrats!

Hey look girls, she's doing what we all keep talking about doing en masse! Let's go!

Our unity candle ceremony will be slightly different...we have all pillars to show the three families. Then Jason and I will light tapers off of the pillars that our mothers lit respectively to show a part of each of the families joining together to make one family. We changed it because our unity candle holder is a little untraditional (ok, it's a fireplace decoration...but I really liked it) and it only holds pillars.
