Ok Ladies. I have the bad habit of biting my nail. Anyone know of any good was to stop myself? I don't even realize I'm doing it most of the time. And I'd like to have nice nail in time for the wedding so that's one less thing to spend money on.

Check in the nail section of the drug store. They sometimes have this stuff you can put on your nails that give them a bitter taste (it is like clear nail polish)

I found this ...
"Nasty thought by eHow Friend
I heard from a friend that biting your nails is nastier than licking a toilet seat! How gross is that? After that shared information, biting my nails was no longer a problem for me. So when you are thinking about biting those nails of yours, think about your toilet seat too." From - http://www.ehow.com/how_35_stop-biting-fingernails.html
Here is some more info on the subject I found ...

I am a total nail biter as well, plus the skin around the nails.
I was thinking of getting fake nails for the wedding, they look so pretty.

They say it takes 21 days to start a new habit and 6 months to make it permanent.
What have you tried? Gum, nasty tasting stuff on your nails, gooey lipstick?

Have you tried bitter apple? It's this stuff you spray on your finger nails so you don't bite them. You could also wear a rubber band (sorry, work in a psych clinic). I know I have some bad habits I'd like to curve by the wedding as well and can't quite figure out how. Good luck!

I bite my nails to. I did stop long enough to have some what of a nail for my first wedding. I just stopped because I wanted them for the wedding. the were just long enough that I had flowers painted on a few of them. But Istarted up again right after. It IS a bad habit. Since I started working at the bank and my hands are what is noticed the most , by counting money back to the customers , I have doing my own fake nails. No one can tell the difference. I spend $5 on enough nails to get me through a month. I change them just about every week to a week and a half. I am not usre what I am doing for the wedding yet, if I am going to do my own or have them done. Good luck with it.

I too am a nail biter. I can get my nails to grow fianally. The temptation is still there. My dad when i was younger used to put that stuff that tastes awful. I still bit through them. Every time i get the urge to bite. I have to clip them off. Then start over. So far that is helping me. I also keep them polished aswell.( Keep them pretty. )Decals, stones ect. By cutting them down everytime i have got out of the habbit of chewing them. And eventually I can let them grow. The most i have lasted so far is just over a month. Good luck to you!!!;)

I was a nail biter too when I was in high school and even before. But then someone told me that you can get worms from biting them, and I thought "Do I want a PARASITE in my stomach?????" Heck no. That was enough to make me quit and I have chewed on my nails since I was a kid. It's a frame of mind, and like everyone else said, put some nail polish on....do you really want to be chewing on nail polish?? Yuck! Every time you chew your nails, think of all the germs you are putting in your mouth...and how sick you could make yourself. I wish you all the best of luck in stopping this nasty habit!! (I had a friend who taught her 2 year old daughter to chew her nails, every time I was around her (the 2 year old) I would tell her not to chew her nails and her mom would get sooooo mad at me! lol... I couldn't help but think what a horriable bad habit to teach your child that was!!Sorry now I'm rambling! )

Thats what I heard.....this girl had a habit of biting her nails so she scraped under her nails and then looked at it under a microscope. She said what she saw (I think it was like swiggly worms or something) instantly broke her habit.

My problem is tha tI dont even realize I am doing it. I will be watching a movie or something and before I know it I have none left. You think with my teeth the way they are ( they dont go together to form a normal bite, comes from sucking my thumb as a child and they never got fixed ) I wouldn't bite them or be able to bt I pry my nail against my teeth. Even with my fake ones on I tend to play with them with my teeth. I did get the habbit from my mom. She bites hers. My sister never has though. I just can't stop. So for me I use the fake ones and no one knows the difference. They ask if they are real and when I say no they ask where I get them done and I say I do them myself. They are amazed.
