save the date

how soon before your wedding should we send out the 'save the date' cards or w/e....also, did anybody make save the date magnets? I think i heard someone somewhere say they did this, but it could have also been a wonderful dream.....

My mom just sent out Xmas cards last week and put our save the date cards with them. Our wedding is 6 months from today :-) I think you generally send them 4-6 months prior, but I could definitely be wrong.

My dad made a design on the computer, bought a stack of business cards and printed them on there. It was really easy and cheap! I have seen a lot of magnets as well, though.

I'm doing save the date magnets - they will be business card size - I bought all the supplies at Staples on clearance.. I still have to change the date on them - we are getting married in October so I'll be sending them out in April

I think the STD's depend on where your wedding is, hotels, people traveling etc.

We did STD magnets and they were easy and way cheaper to make then buy! Someone on here got them at vistaprint for super cheap!!!

I sent mine out about 9 months before but only because there is an large Seattle area event happening that weekend and I wanted people to be able to plan.

I just ordered mine from vista print today! It cost 17.99 for 100 + 2.49 to upload your own design. I googled vista print coupon code and came up with a website full of coupon codes.

We are doing printed cards...I looked into magnets but they were twice as much as the cards...and I am sending mine out after Christmas so 8 months before the wedding. There aren't many hotels nearby the wedding and they fill up quickly - that I why I am sending them early.

I'd go with vistaprint like $15 for 50. You can customize them with your pics and everything

Thanks Danielle - that means a lot coming from you! I wish I could do illustration like that - I found them on a website with public domain images from old books...

We made magnets. I bought a bunch of 4x6 magnets online that had a sticky side. I turned a photo of us into a cartoon had them printed at walmart, and stuck them together ourselves and it was pretty cheap! we sent them out about 6 months before.
