I decided to start a journal ... partly for motivation and partly to hold myself accountable for what I put into and do with my body. I am by no means over weight, I weigh around 130 +- and I am 5'3. I am less concerned about losing weight then I am about toning and looking fit. Somehow between the ages of 22 - 24 my metabolism went on strike. So here is my plan ... I joined curves last week and I am going to watch what I eat better. Never had a problem eating badly just didn't eat correct proportions.

I will start with yesterday:
Breakfast: 2 whole wheat waffles, 1 cup of coffee
Morning snack: apple
Lunch: lean cuisine meal - Beef macaroni and a fruit cup
Afternoon snack: a tiny weanny piece of cake (it was my bosses b-day)
Dinner: 2 eggs on dry toast, fruit cup
Cheat snack: a handful of animal crackers
Exercise:
1 hour of pilates class, ouch my bum is sore. Oh and 3 walks with my best doggie girl pal :)
Seems like you're doing this for the same reasons that I'm doing it. Maintenance, health, & accountability!
Good luck and we're all here to support you!

I am exactly the same as you, I weigh 131 on a good day, and 134 on a bad day and I am about 5'3" also! I just want to tone up too, but the hardest part is staying motivated! We get in free to the rec. center, so I am going to do that when school gets out next week! WOO HOO! We can keep each other on track!

Hey Danielle,
Have you ever heard of Herbalife? This is what my husband used before our wedding and he lost 20lbs in two months! I am actually using it myself and have lost inches as well as 2 lbs in 2 weeks. My goal is to lose the 15lbs I've gained since getting married. I also do yoga and now I've started taking spin classes. Since I am a distributor for Herbalife I can send you some samples if you want to try it. Let me know what you think.
Rachel
I have not, but I am trying to do this without the aid of any supplements since my metabolism is already kind of out of wack. Thanks for the offer tho.

Your doing good! I do have a question, does your curves have the new machines that when you get on you scan your card or are they the old white machines that you just get on for the 30 seconds then move to the next item in the circle?

Hum.. I think the old machines. We scan our card when we come into the gym and it says how many workout you have done and your weight and goal weight. But on the actual machine there is no scanner. They just have the music with the move that says: Move to the next machine.

How is Curves working for you??? I went there for 2.5 months- 4 days a week and did not lose any weight or much in inches either (and I felt like I worked my butt off):censored:. 1 Month in a real gym though and I lost 10 lbs. I guess it just works for some people...

I think different places work for different people. I can go to the gym and work really hard and see results, but if I try to work out outside or I don't have a routine I don't see any.
Good job Danielle! You're doing great
maybe some more protein if you want to see more definition.... like a protein bar or some protein powder in a drink:)
Good luck!!

Your Curves has the "old" machines.

I worked there for a short time and I worked out while working and didnt see any difference either. I got better results doing a workout at home after I stopped working there. Although there was a girl who came in 2 times a day and did the workout for a hour each time, she went down 2in. and like 6lbs the first month she was enrolled. So the program does work just differently for everyone.
Your doing great though!!

So i read that you joined curves and I went and looked it up and it is a womens gym type thing?? I was just wondering what it is and how you like it. Is it something where you go in and just start working out or is it kinda like a class...I am just wanting to go join something but dont want to have to stand in front of everyone and explain why I am there!! So if you can just tell me what it is all about that would help me out a lot!! I am trying to start the new year off right! Thanks:heart:
From what I know of Curves it is circuit training. Several women start off at various machines at the same time and then after a certain amount of time you transfer to another machine and so on and so on.
s_r_d3
12-30-2007, 04:43 PM
Curves is only for women. Each gym has a certain amount of machines and recovery stations. You work out on each for 30 seconds. You go around 2 times for a full 30 minute workout. Your not in the spot light like at other places.
Danielle9608
12-30-2007, 05:58 PM
Yea... everyone else has pretty much summed it. It kind of like a regular gym but there is no cardio machines. And you do the circuit in a certain order, they stager them to do upper body rest, then lower body. If you do the circuit right it is a good cardio workout. I really like it.

Also I am proud of myself because yesterday at work we had a baby actually a "man shower" for a coworker thats having a baby. And there was cake, cookies, brownies and tons of other items that could ruin my diet and I resisted everything, even despite having a really difficult day which is when I am most tempted to eat baldy. Also (although my official weigh in is not till 2/1) I have lost 2 pounds and I feel like my clothes may be getting looser.
Good job on resisting. I know that must have been so difficult! I had a bad day yesterday as well, but I did give in and had some popcorn and chocolate! Gooo Danielle! :frogg:
