View Full Version : Chad's a CHEF!
Chad just finished his very last day of culinary arts school! He doesn't have his graduation ceremony until Saturday 13, but he's officially a chef now. I'm so proud! He's so talented and has so much passion for the art! He's been a line cook at a nice seafood restaurant for a year, but he hasn't technically been able to say that he's a chef. :frogg: I got Elizabeth to make him a signature platter. I'm planning on writing something special on the back for him, but I can't think of anything just right, ya know.
I just wanted to share the good news! I'll be posting graduation pictures in a few weeks!

Congratulations!
Maybe he can supervise the chickpea curry! :P
I will never let him know how much saffron I wasted today. Hahaha. It was one of those situations where there's such a little amount of something left that you decide to just toss it all in. Wellll, saffron tastes so strong you just can't do that!

Whooo hoooo?
What's his specialty - ie what he loves to cook more than anything else?
For some odd reason he's like a soup master. He's always making all different kinds of soups. Winter is here so I'm not complaining!

LOL the first thing that came to mind when I read that, was the Seinfeld character ...

LOL it's not anymore if he's reading over her shoulder.
You know Keely, if you draw in a little mustache on that character and he would look just like the seinfeld soup chef!
Yay!!! I think I would love to live with a chef! What's he going to do now?
We so enjoy cooking together. I think that it's one of our favorite things to do at home together on a relaxing night. Sometimes he'll just tell me to go watch tv and then he'll come out with something wonderful for me. That's always nice!
He has two potential options right now.
#1 - Become a kitchen manager at Pappadeaux. That's where he works right now. He would get a major raise and have more authority.
#2 - Do sales for a food broker. He would create recipes for different brands (McCormick spices for example) and then take the recipes to restaurants, schools, hotels, etc to sell the product. Salary, plus commision, and a regular 9 to 5 Monday through Friday schedule. He'll get to be creative and make his own recipes. Major plus for him.
We'll see!

Doing a happy dance!!
Yep the platter is a surprise, Brandi! He's not reading over my shoulder so we're all good. lol. Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing him a little more now that he's out of school. I haven't seen him since Saturday. :purplex: He actually said that he wanted to try out a new dessert for me this weekend!
I was going to get the platter signed at his party, but his parents said they're spending money on the wedding so he doesn't get a party. So I'm just going to get all of my family and then his immediate family to sign it. Those are the important people anyways.
Elizabeth - now you're gonna have me doodling little mustaches on the poor guy. lol. No, I'll keep my hands off!

This is so exciting! I think it would be fun to go to culinary school!
Whenever we started dating he couldn't make a thing! I would be babysitting and would call him while I was making the kids breakfast every morning. He just couldn't understand why I did that when they could eat cereal!
He used to want to be a geneticist because he told me that he wanted to study Type 1 diabetes...what made my mom so sick. Sweet boy. Then he discovered that cooking really made him happy so he was thinking about culinary school. It made me feel so special that he wanted to do something that he learned how to do with me. Now he knows way more than me, but I still came up with a recipe for him to use in a class competition the other day so that's not too shabby. lol :frogg:
