oh... and that big blob of white on the front of the house is where a few gumdrops were suppose to go... you can see them laying there in a pile to the side(the green and red ones... they were suppose to be a wreath)...but no matter how hard we tried they would not stick :(

That is so cute & the cookie is hilarious. I assume that this is the side that Matt plans to eat? :)

hehe we never actually eat the house in my family... it is more like we display it for the whole season, and then by then it is too gross to eat, and we just pitch it.... but Matt did say that when the pictures were done he was going to eat the cookie... haha but it is still there, so it has survived through today :)

If anyone else makes one make sure you share pictures!

Well we bought the gingerbread pre-made, like cut and cooked, but we assembled it ourselves. It was a ton of fun. We would put part of it together with the icing and then shove it into the freezer to harden it a bit so it didn't fall apart haha.

We got our kit from Kroger for like $10, and it came with the pre-cut pieces, an icing mix, and some candy for it.

I was going to ask if you had any trouble with that!

I used to make them with my kids. Getting them to hold was the hardest part!!! I finally learned to "glue" it together a bit at a time ---- walls first (supported by an inner box) .... then I would lay that on one side of the roof and let that dry .... and then flip it over and glue on the other side of the roof. I never thought to put it in the freezer - what a great idea!

This is too funny! We've been making Gingerbread houses since my kids were little. The first Christmas Bruce was a part of our family, we were putting our houses together...and he used too much "icing" and it fell apart. You should have seen the look on his face. It was priceless. Kaelie gave him a big hug and told him it would be OK!!

We have our house party set for Christmas Eve because that's when the kids will be home from Denver. And there is strict instructions not to do it without them!! They love it.

I have miniature patterns if anyone would like to try them. It's a lot easier than the big houses.

Cute; What a good wife you are to let DH make his own side ;)

I have never done this, but may do it this year with my niece :)

So cute!

Here is the one I did two years ago. Mine was a kit too. My MOH and I did them one day together. I don't have a pic of hers. We had so much fun! I want to do another.

How fun!!!!!!

Every year, the place I work for has a contest between the departments...me and my friend are in charge of the pharmacy's entry this year! WOOOHOOO! I can't wait!

But seeing this makes me want to do one with FH. I think that'd be a riot!!

(LOVE the cookie!)

Haha! I'd never made a gingerbread house until last year at FH's parents' house. Apparently it was something they did ever year that they could.

It was a lot of fun! I'll definitely try to find the pictures, because all the houses were SOOOO creative! FH and I made one, his older sister, his mom, his younger sister and her bf, and his little brother. It was awesome.
