Okay... so it is fake..... but it is in the spot that I eventually want a tattoo, I don't want three stars like that or anything, but I want something written in Hebrew.... There are a few words I'm still looking at (I have taken a year of Biblical Hebrew in college).

I really want to get it, but... lets just say I am not a friend of pain... in fact I saw ow to everything... I had to get TB testing done for a job last summer and I about made myself sick over it... and I heard your foot hurts --- so I will have to talk myself into it, but I really want my Hebrew (or greek... Matt took greek) tattoo!! I'll just make Matt hold my hand hehe
I may get the greek word "Agape" on my foot and Matt would get it on his left ring finger... it means love in Greek.

My friend got her first tattoo on her foot, and it was a good sized one. She said it hurt so bad that her foot was shaking. Then she had to have the entire thing touched up and she said that hurt even more. We want to get matching tats on our big toe, of a music note.

I knew it was a fake as soon as I saw the pic
I don't have one on my foot, but I hear it is not a pleasant place to get tattooed, but really no where is ;)
The way I see it is you have to really want it and put it in your mind that you are going to do it no matter what. Otherwise all you will think of is the pain.
I have been tattooed 10-12 times (with cover ups and touch ups) and I still get a little anxious, but I love the finished results so I keep going back :frogg:

I have a foot tattoo and I love it. It wasn't that bad. If that's what you want, don't let peoples' horror stories stop you.

I have tattoos on each bicep, my right ankle, and the small of my lower back, and I can say without reservation that both my ankle tattoo and the one in the small of my back hurt worse (individually) than when I snapped my Achilles tendon cleanly in two and had to have a surgical reconstruction of it.
The day after the surgery I was sleeping in four hour shifts because that's when my Percoset ran out -- to the minute, actually. I would wake up feeling like my ankle was on fire, quite literally, and feeling shaking and nauseated from the pain. It was all I could do to swallow the pill. Luckily Percoset makes me pass out, so I'd get relief that way, but four hours later it would all start again.
And yes, without exaggeration, I will say to anybody who asks that my ankle tattoo and my back tattoo hurt worse than that.
The only reason I could deal with getting inked at all was because I knew that two hours later it would be over -- forever -- and I'd never have pain again for that particular tat. When I considered stopping and giving up I thought about how humiliating it would be and how ashamed and embarassed I would be to only have part of a tat, and I gritted my teeth and carried on.
When I got my back tattoo by then I had learned how to manage pain through breathing and meditation -- but it still took me 45 minutes to find that relaxed state!!!!!
So my advice is -- if you want a tattoo, go and get a small one (one that will take less than an hour to finish) on your butt or your biceps -- those places are where the nerve endings are buried pretty deeply and you won't feel it as badly. To me, getting inked on the bicep feels like scratching a sunburn -- it's icky, but totally doable. If you can handle that, then consider getting a larger one in a more delicate area. If you can't, well, at least you have *one* tattoo, that you like!
Oh, and do your research FIRST. I cannot stress this enough. Tattoos should never be an impluse buy. Go visit the shop. Ask about their sterilization. Ask to see their certificates. Ask to watch somebody getting tattooed. If the shop smells funky, if they don't use gloves, or re-use the needles, RUN, don't walk away. And don't go with the firs shop and/or artist you see. Look at portfolios. Talk to the artists. Make sure you're completely comfortable. Shops should be sparkling clean -- no dirt in corners, no grubby walls, no dirty employees. Is the artist clean? He may have a gazillion tats and piercings and dreads down to the floor, but if he's not sanitary, don't hesitate to leave. Find another guy.
Tattoos should be clean and bright, with strong lines and deep, rich color. The outlines should be even in color and straight -- they shouldn't wobble as though they were done by an unsteady hand. They should not be faded, blurry, or uneven. If your artist tells you that blurry and uneven is 'his style' run away! The best artists take pride in their work, and won't accept anything less than perfection.
Heh. Quite obviously I feel strongly about this. But really. It's the only body modification out there (aside from scarification) that is PERMANENT and you want to have something you'll love when you're 80 as well as when you're 25. So where you get it done and who you have it done by is just as important, if not more so, than what you choose.

*snicker* {sorry ;)} You must have a low tolerance for pain :p I have been tattooed more than 10 times in various places (upper arms, ankles, calves, back, neck) and although none were pleasant, I would not say it was all that painful. My worst one was on my arm where a part of the piece touches the inner arm. That one and parts of the larger one on my back were pretty rough.
LOL - or maybe I just block it out so I will keep going back ;)
ETA - Sorry, I didn't mean to pick on you; it is definitely a different experience for everyone :-)

You can also get the artist to do a couple of "dry" lines on you to give you an idea how it will feel.
I also recomend a custom piece so you don't have the same thing anyone else can pick off the wall. But you want to find an artist that will listen to you and what YOU want, not what he/she wants to do. Suggestions are fine and sometimes apprecated, but ultimatly it is you that has to be happy as you have to wear it forever.
Good luck and be sure to share pictures if/when you take the plunge!
I am suppose to be getting a new one soon, just waiting to hear back from the guy with my revised design ;)

Oh if I get it, believe me the artist will be well researched, I'm well aware that it is permenant and that also sometimes the pain can be worse if done by someone not trained as well.
I also would not be getting something off of the wall. If I get one it will mean something to me. Like I said I either want something representing our marriage in Hebrew, or I will be getting Agape, in Greek on my foot and Matt will get it on his ring finger (he would do the same with the Hebrew).
Mostly I'm just kind of waiting until at least spring so that I won't have to wear socks, because I heard you aren't suppose to for awhile after getting a foot tattoo. I have a friend who has one right where I want mine and she said that it did hurt worse than her others ones, but that the guy was good about talking with her to distract her.
I'm still deciding, but it wouldn't be anything big, probably no more than 2 1/2 inches long so I'm hoping it wouldn't take too long. I live close to Chicago so I will probably reserach some of the bigger names there and see who seems to be the best, and since i'm nuts I'll probably go in person to check them out first before they do it :)

I want to get a tatoo on the back of my ankle...but I think i'm going to wait until after the wedding since i'm wearing a shirt dress---everyone would see it...
plus I don't know what I want...I was thinking some sort of heart that looks like its made of rope/ lasso but I don't know...nothing too big though, nother smaller than the size of a quater but no bigger than a toonie...
I think a foot tattooo would be super cute!!!!!! I don't know how pianful it would be, considering its not a fleshy part of the body...
