:urgh: We got a packet in the mail today saying our insurance is going up AGAIN! Every couple of years it seams that the fees go up and the coverage goes down.

Last year mine was gonna go up to like $300 a month so we had to change plans and now it is like $170 a month for me. Their best rate now is like $230 and it is not the same coverage :censored:

We have had Kaiser for like 4 years now I think and like it ok, but it is getting really expensive. And it sucks that mine is more than DH's :purplex:

I suppose we could look for another company, but we don't want to lapse our coverage and I really hate the whole ordeal of getting new insurance.

UGH - I am gonna move to Canada :p

That does stink, We don't have insurence because being full-time students we don't have full-time jobs, and we can't pay for it out of pocket. It hasn't mattered yet though. I'm hoping all stays well until at least we get jobs after graduation!

If they keep raising it, I would start looking for another company

We looked into a Family Policy and the prices were only marginally better :purplex:

He has been made partner with the company he works for (he has been working as a sub contractor for years; the owner is a friend), so after the first of the companies fiscal year (when his new position takes effect) he is going to look into getting a family plan with the insurance his company offers. We are not sure if that will be better or not.

I can't even imagine - that's equivalent to a car payment!

Be prepared for a long wait getting a dr's appt. or a longer sit in the emergency room :)

Oh and if you want to stay warm the majority of the year, you should look into moving to Victoria, BC

Hehe, then she'd be up near me!

Have you looking into Alliance Blue Cross Blue Shield? When I started making over like 10K a year (back in college) Medicaid said I had to pay like over 200 a month to keep my son covered (based on my income), so I looked into private insurance and covering him was around $100 a month, but that was quite a few years ago.

Sean and I can finally get insurance! he just had a job fair and an pick from these insurances: aetna, hap, blue care network, mail handlers benefit plan, and blue cross and blue shield. We are probably going to go with the blue cross and blue shield, it's what I had when I was little and looks the best outta all of them. For both of us for the "lowest" plan it will be $275. Insurance is ridiculous though because like another poster said before, add cost, take away benefits. *sigh* what you gunna do though, right?

Insurance rates are so crazy - At my job, they pay 85% for me but to add dependents I have to pay 100% so if I added my daughter, I would have had to pay $187 per pay check (twice a month) - Thank goodness for CHIP Insurance - now I pay $23 a pay for myself and $73 a month for my daugther.

yeah we don't have insurance either.....because we can't afford it..we pay $66.00/month for my son through medicaid but me and Joe have been without insurance for a good 4 yrs. now..It sux cause when one of us do get sick we have to stick it out...hopefully nothing bad happens in the near future :(
my company is the same as someone else mentioned they pay 90% for employee only but to add my hubby it's $80.00/week and for a "family plan" It's $150.00/week!!!!! that's like almost 1/2 my check...ummmm, no thnaks hehe

Even working in a hospital doesn't give us a break for premiums. For just Bruce & I, it's $172.00 every 2 weeks. That's with the hospital picking up 85% of the premium. The one way we do get a break is that for anything done at the hospital, they pay 100% without a deductible. That helps a lot.

I get me and the kids health insurance thru State Farm. They over a variety of policies!! We have Assurant Health. I pay 160/ month for it (less than what I would thru work) $20 copays...And its a ppo plan in which if the doctor accepts BC BS than they are a participating provider with Assurant. Our deductible isn't very high either...I think its only 1,000 family deductible which isn't bad for a policy like this. I'm pretty happy with them!!

At my old job I paid for 60% so that was about $300 that came out of my check every month. I am very fortunate my new job pays 90% now I pay $28 per month. When we get married it will save us money for him to go on mine because its only 96 for family.

I am right now without insurance. I work part time so I dont get it and my husband lost his job and had to start a new one. I just got the baby on NH Healthy Kids and my other 2 are covered udner their dad. When my husband IS availble to get insurace through is work it is going to cost well over $200 a week. So I contacted Health Link and the guy said he could get us at atleast half that if not less. But we need one months preium up front and we cant afford that yet. But Nicholas realy likes his job so I am thinking this is who we will go with.

I now have to find a way to pay my portion of bills from having Grady. We were ok utnil Nicholas lost his job.

Oh Gwen, I'm soooo sorry to hear that..Hang in there sweety!! It will get better!! (((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) ))))))))))))))

Not to get too far into government, but health insurance is a pain. That is what drove up health care costs to begin with. Now its gotten to a point that even if you do work it costs you an arm and a leg to pay premiums. Then not to mention if you can find a par provider in your area. My job did that to us. They switched to United Health Care...The premimums were expensive, plus unless I drove for 45 minutes I would had to take the kids to an out of network provider...The OON deductible was over 5 grand!! It's really insane. Everything price wise is going up, and really today no job is secure!!
