http://www.babyraising.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif Gwen and Nicholas are having a baby!!!!!!
Well Nicholas and I were married on June 10, 2006. I have 2 children already. Jessa who is 7 and Dean who is 5. They love Nicholas to death and he is amazing with them. Every one was so suprised at how well he took to being a father figure to them. Before he came to live with us he was a guy with no responsiblties and no worries about any one but himself. But he is the best thing that has happened to all of us.
We started trying for a baby about 2 months before the wedding. I figured 2 months was close enough that if I was by chance to get pregnant then I wouldn't be huge at the wedding. Well it has been 7 months and still nothing yet.
My cycle is off. It is never on time and comes when ever it pleases. So it is hard to track when Iam ovulating. But the only thing that is the same is it last 5 days. I had one very early in the month like within the first few days. But it only lasted for about 3 days.
I am not sure if I am imagining things or if I am just hopign so bad to be pregnant that I am seeing signs that are not realy there. My breast have been hurting for the last coupel of days and feel fuller. And I keep going to the potty alot more often. ( lol potty? yeah I got kids ) I am just waiting and I HATE waiting.

I do that a lot too Gwen! I want to be pregnant so bad that I start imagining things. Like, the fact that I am so tired and that I have to pee a lot more. Or I can eat anything and everything and not feel full. And then out of nowhere, my period shows up! Right now, I doubt it would be possible for me as that IUD is still in me.
Good luck Gwen! I'll be right here with ya!

Well I was calm and waiting for him to get here untill he pulled in the drive way. Then I got all excited. I let him talk and get his coat off and what not. Then I just couldn't wait any more. I told him I had something for him and gave him the card. He said I knew it. And we kissed. He is in shock and very happy at the same time. he has wanted this as much as I have but now that it is realy happening it scares him a little.
We are not telling the kids untill I am atleast 3 months along. Just in case something was to happen I dont want the kids to have to go through that. They are too young. So untill I get a good sign that every looks good I am going to hold off telling them.
I called the docotors office today from work. The nurse tried telling me that I am only 4 weeks along. I told her yes I had a period at the beginning of the month but it was not a normal one. There is no way I am feeling the symptoms I am feeling if I am only 4 weeks. I told her my first 2 were conceive in Oct. and I didnt find out I was pregnant untill the first week of Dec. with both of them. My OBG-YN is a great guy and even though he hasnt seen me in a few months and it has been 5 yrs since I gave birth last he knows who I am and remembers every thing about me in a heart beat. That is just the kids of guy he is. I love him. So the nurse said she was talk to him when he got back to the office. She called me at work to tell me to go to the hospital for lab work. I went there just after work after having my kids Nana pick them up for me as Nicholas is working late tonight. I went and had my blood drawn. He wants to know how much of the hormone is in my blood. I will hear from the nurse tomorrow after the get the results. If I am 6 to 8 weeks already then he needs to see me now. If ot then the Dec. 6th appointment will do.
So far as of right now my due date is Junly 8th. But I am sure that is going to change as I know I am further along then 4 weeks, I have to be.
Well I have to run out and pick up some prenatal vitamens. Be back after feeding the kids and putting them bed.

I am so happy Gwen that Nicholas took everything okay! Maybe you will have the baby on my one year anniversary!! LOL...So are you going to find out if it is a boy or a girl? Any names picked out yet?
rainbowtreat (http://www.babyraising.com/forums/member.php?u=9)
I think I will leave the chose of finding out what it is up to Nicholas. It is his 1st and my 3rd and I didn't know with the first 2. I like being surprised but It think I will let him have the glory on this one.
Not sure about names yet. He throws some out and I dont like them, I throw some out and he doesn't like them.
I would love to name a baby girl Maggie, Not Margurite or anythign liek that just Maggie. But it is still in discussion. We both like the name Tristan for a boy. But that is as far as we got.
I had my first 2 names picked out before I was even out of high school. So it feels weird to have to find a name.

And she said the earlier I can get in there then she will get the results in the afternoon. If i dont go in untill the afternoon she wont get them untill the next day. So I am takign my 2 kids with me at 7 am into the hospital to have more blood draw before going to work. She said the reason is the hormaone should be going up and the doc wants to see how much. Again more waiting. AARRGGG!!!!!

rainbowtreat (http://www.babyraising.com/forums/member.php?u=9)
Well I heard back about the lab work. They are checking for the hormone levels in my blood. The nurse said that they want to see the levels at around 1000. Right now it is about 490. So I go in again Friday morning to get more blood taken. She also said that as of right now with the levels of the hormone in my blood I look to be about 2 or 3 weeks along. I have a hard time believing this. I have never felt pregnant this early before and I have had 2 others. Both conceived in Oct. So by the looks of it I am going ot have another July baby. YEAH!!!!
11-01-2006, 11:12 PM
jennr (http://www.babyraising.com/forums/member.php?u=15)
Wow! That's very cool. I never knew you could have the symptoms and it be detected so soon. Congrats hun! I hope they won't have to take too much more blood after friday for a while.
Take Care!

OK , so I went and had more blood drawn this morning. Heard back from the nurse some time after 2 in the after noon. ( as in the hospital at 7 waiting for labs , got in abotu 7:30 and it tookt hem this long ) She told me that the hormone had gone up from the 490 on Wed. to 1110 today. That is what they wanted to see. Now she has told me that my doctor wants me to go in on next Thursday for one more lab test. He wants to see if the levels are high enough for me to have an ultra sound. If they are I will be scheduled for an ultra sound to see just how far along I realy am. So I am thinking with inthe next couple of week I will be able to give you all a due date.

As Melissa mentioned here is a picture of what I bought with my gift card. Nope I could not wait. I need every thing so I see no need in waiting when I need even the littlest things. So here it is.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c167/rainbowtreat/100_1634.jpg
I got a 5 pack of white onesies, a 10 pack of baby clothes hangers in green, a very soft yellow blanket that has tiny ducks imprinted on it, a wipes holder for the diaper bag, baby's brush and comb, a sleep positioner, and a health care kit that includes nail clippers, medicine spoon, nasal aspirator, madicine dropper with spill guard, and a digital thermometer with a case, all in it's own little travel case.
I have all of .37 cents left. I was so excited about being able to shop. I know I wont be able to do any more untill after christmas. I have 2 other kids and a husband to buy for and a car to fix. So having a chance to spend $50 and not worry about it was great.

Had a dream last night that I had gave birth to twin girls. The funny thing is all of Nicholas coucins ( all guys ) have a set of twin girls. All of them except one. I tried telling Nicholas that it is the girl who decideds if it is going to be twins or not. He said none of his cousins wives have twins running in their families. He said maybe the sperm is telling the egg to split lmao. He wants twins lol.

OK I thought I would share with you all some of the things I want. I registerd wtih Babies "R" Us on line. So once we tell every one the items I picked will give them an idea of the things we need.
Here are a few of the things I picked. Some I dont NEED but would love to have.
I love the looks of this and in this place it will be easy if I have this to be able to put it up out of the way and then have every thing inone place when I need it. We dont have a tub just a shower so the baby will be in the sink for some time lol.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c167/rainbowtreat/pTRU1-3009739reg.jpg
I used these bottles with my first two and I just love them. These ones here are updated some though. The nipple is wider and is supposed to repersent the natural nipple more.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c167/rainbowtreat/pTRU1-3038666reg.jpg
This is some what like what my kids had. They loved it and it was a safe and easy place to put the baby. My kids slept in it, sat in it hwile I was busy doing something else. When they first started eating from a spoon they were in this. I love this and want to have one for this one.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c167/rainbowtreat/pTRU1-2909045reg.jpg
And of course a baby monitor. I liked the looks and the decription on this one.

I have one customer at work that he ran dI talked about her grandkids and about me and us trying to conceive. She told me to let her know as soon as I knew. Well it had been a week and she had not been in. I was looking at baby clothes when I heard " Is there something I should know seeing your looking at baby clothes?" It was her. I said well yes there is I am pregnant. I told her I was like ok she hasn't been in so I can't tell her. She said she is not going through drive up any more. She will be coming in to see how I am doing.

Well my girlfriend who had her baby about 8 weeks early called the other night and said she is ready to bring me her bassinet. She said her son used it a few times and her new one only used it for about a week. She said her son hated his crib. He never wanted to sleep in it. He used the pack and play all the time. She didn't want this one to do the same thing. She said she put her in the crib after a week and she lays down and goes to sleep. She loves her crib. So I have a bassinet that is almost brandnew. I can't wait.
Tomorrow I got for more blood work. If this one shows the hormone levels are high enough I get to have an ultrasound. Wish me luck you guys. If they tell me tomorrow to shcedule one I am going to try and get it for Tuesday as I am only going to work for a meeting about a half hour away. So I will be home by 11 for the rest of the day. That would be the best time for me. I will keep you all posted.

OK my ultra sound is on Thursday the 16th at 12:30. I am feeling good. Just the same, boobs hurting and getting bigger, peeing all the time. And the big thing is smells. They are stronger. Bad ones make me want to puke. Good ones make me want to eat what ever it is I am smelling lol. It is hard to decide what it is I want to eat. That bugs me. Not sure what I realy want so I try many different things. Nothing is what I want lol.

Well tomorrow is the day. I go for an ultra sound at 12:30. Then I have to go back to work. So I am hopign I get a picture and I will be able to share it with you all tomorrow night. And maybe a due date. Unless I have to wait untill I see my Doc. on Dec. 6th and have him tell me that due date. That will suck but I guess I will have to wait.
I also talked with my head teller at work. For my maturnaty leave I can take up to 12 weeks. That means I can have 2 months in the summer off and an month after the kids start school. If I choose to take this route. Also I get short term disabilty for 10 of the 12 weeks. So I use a week of vacation and a week of sick time for the first 2 and if I save money from Jan till the baby is born ( or just save some out of our tax return ) I get 2/3 of my pay for the 10 weeks. That is realy just losing $100. So say I brought home $300, for the 12 weeks I would get $200. So if I save $1000 I can still have my normal pay pretty much and have 3 motnhs off with my new baby. That would be just awsome. But lets see when this little one is going to join us first lol.

rainbowtreat (http://www.babyraising.com/forums/member.php?u=9)OK I had my ultra sound at 12:30. (They had to do an internal ultra soun because I am not that far along yet.) But then I had to go back to work untill after 5. Then we had a couple of friends bring pizza over and we hung out with them for about 4 hours. SO before heading to bed I had to fill you all in on what I got for info. today.
Well the baby is only 4mm ( just over 1 1/2 inches ) , the heart rate is at 113 which I was told is very good. We could see the little flicker of the heart. I am 6 weeks and 2 days along. My due date is July 10th. (My sons b-day is July 11th and my daughters is July 22nd lol. But my daughter was 4 days early and my son was I believe 6 days ealy. So lets hope this one comes early as well lol.) So this means I was feeling syptoms just 2 weeks after conceiving.
OK here is the picture, the first baby picture of our new little one.
You can see the sack in which the baby lives in but he/she is living at the very top for now lol. THat little blur is my baby. See he/she is holding a sign that says baby lol. They labled it for us.

Lizabeth you were married one day before my daughters B-day. The whole purpose of havign it early is to avoid this ones B-day being to close to one of my others. And I am not holding this thing in for 11 extra days if I can help it.

I will be starting week 7 on Tuesday. So here is what the baby and my body are up to. I have to have Nicholas read the part about me lol. Maybe he can understand a little more about my moods lol. I feel sorry for the guy.
Fetal development in pregnancy week 7:Your baby is really beginning to develop more physical definition this week – their oversized head isn’t just large and oblong anymore, it’s actually a little bit pointy. The tiny receding tail bud is now starting to be overshadowed by the growth of their legs, which are now complete with knees and the beginnings of toes. Their eyes and ears are the most visible features on the head and miniature bones are starting to harden throughout their body. You also have some variation on a boy or a girl at this point although their genitals won’t be visible enough to determine which color cigars you’re going to buy until around the 16th week.
And how's mom doing? Your hormones are still out of whack because the placenta won’t take over hormone production for your little one for another couple of weeks. So until then, expect more of the same. At this point any close family or friends have undoubtedly noticed you’re a little more moody and/or irritable than usual. And there are probably times where you’re ready to tell the world off (maybe you already have), but it’s always worth the time and effort to explain to yourself and others the reason for your current emotional rollercoaster; you don’t have to be a monster just because you feel a little whacked out. Focus on your breathing and energy levels. Take naps if you feel fatigued but don't forget the plentiful benefits of long walks outside for fresh air and exercise. Sit down if you start to feel nauseous, eat (healthy vitamin-rich) foods when you’re hungry. Even though there’s no bi-weekly paycheck or boss, pregnancy is harder work than you might think and you need lots of positive physical and emotional energy to provide your baby with the safest strongest home possible.

That's so good to know Gwen! Is Nicholas very excited yet? I know you are only about 7 weeks along, but are you starting to show at all yet? I think it would be cool for you and Shawna to post progress pictures...Like the before, and then at like once a month so we can see the lovely little bumps!!

That is a great idea! Once my pregnancy is confirmed Matthew and I will start taking those pictures and every month at the same time we'll take another one and add to it, then we'll see how it's growing! lol

I was going to keep my whole journal but opted not to and just saved it else where.I will just continue on from present day in this journal.
As for now nothing much going on. Grady has been lucky enough not to get sick like every one else has. Both my other kids, my husbnad and my sitter as well as others I have known have been sick. I have kept every one away from in hopes he would not get it. He and I have been lucky so far.

Grady has been having cereal for about a month now. For most of it it was every other ngiht. This last week it has been every night. But.... tongiht he had corn. He made a face at first but he ate it all. I love my Kidco system. I cooked it up real quick, purreed it and he loved it. I put the rest into one of the freezer trays so he can have some for the next week.

So he is having carrots now. He loves it better then the corn. Again I just have to say how much I love my Kidco system. I spent $1.50 ( about ) on a small bag of baby carrotts. I steamed them up and mixed it with the formula and I got 2 full trays full. Enough for about 2 weeks worth of dinners. Do I even have to say how much money I will be saving. I am going to give him bananas soon. When I do he will start having that with cereal for breakfast.
He is growing so fast. He is out of the 3 to 6 months clothes and he is just over 5 months. I just got a bunch of clothes from a friend for him. I have 12 and 18 months packed up and a bag of summer clothes. And a bag of clothes I don't want. He doesn't need that many pairs of pants and shirts. He lives in sleepers right now. They are warmer and more comfortable any way.
He even has a Santa hat. So cute. I will have to post a picture.
On another note I got the kids from their dads Monday night due to bad weather on Sunday. My daughter Jessa who is 8 yrs old was very quiet and kinda in a sad mood. She kept telling me nothing was wrong. I sat with her and talked about Chucky Cheese where they went for a birthday party and helped her color soemthing she was working on. Out of the blue she asked me if Santa was real. I asked her why she would ask me that. She said that her dads gf's oldest boy told her that it was a big secret that the Santas in the stores are just people dressed up and that moms and dads do it all. She also said that her friend Tori doesn't believe because she saw her dad putting gifts under the tree one year and some kids at school say he isn't real. I told her that Santa only goes to the houses of the kids who believe in him. She said "I believe !" So I told her he will come to your house. Actualy I told her he will go to her dads where she will be and he will also leave a couple of gifts here for them as well. She has been much better today. I told her on the way to school this morning that is anyone tries to tell her he isn't real just to tell them he only gives gifts to the kids who believe in him.
Kids grow up to fast these days so I want her to stay little as long as possible.
Listen to the song " Let them be little". I have heard it so many times but since having my last baby it makes me cry when I hear it.

I cry when I hear that song too!!! Ahhh Poor thing. I think you handled it well. My mom said Christmas changed for her once my brother and I found out about Santa. My 6 year old is very suspicious. I even have to buy different tags and paper every year for the gifts from santa. I have to even go to the extent of using different pen like a marker just so he stops questioning. I even print differently too! What we go to to keep the spirit of Santa alive. I agree they do grow up sooo fast. It's bittersweet though!

Well we had our Chirstmas tongiht with the kids. They got home about 2:30 just as I was getting out of work. They so could not wait for their step-dad to get home. He had to work until 5:30. THey were very antsy. I let them have their stockings and a gift from their baby brother. They also opend a gift from each other. Then they had to wait. So we went and dropped my sitter off and headed to the store to pass the time. WE went and got DH a couple of things as I got money in my card from my dad. They were so excited about buying them and warpping them and could not wait for him to open them. It was so cute. Our best friends came by to bring their gifts over and was here fixing dinner while the kids opened their gifts.
They were a little confused at their dads. There Santa doesn't wrap the presents. He fill their stockings and then leaves a couple of gifts unwrapped by them. My daughter had a very hard time understanding this. Here at home Santa wraps the gifts he brings.
With my explanatin to her last week about some kids not believing in Santa I told her that Santa only visits the kids that believe in him. She said she believed so I told her he would come to her house. Well because he didn't wrap the gifts down there she thought he didn't come because her dads GF's kids don't believe in him. Her Nana was there and was trying to explain it to her but she said it was no fun with Santa not wrapping the gifts. My son said something to me out of the blue about next year staying home for Christmas and going to daddys for Thanksgiving.
I had a very hard time delaing with not having them home. But I have to be grateful they have a dad who wants to be with them. His GF's kids dad was to pick up his kids Christmas night and take them over night. He was supposed to be there at 6 and at 5:45 called and said he wasn't coming. The kids were all set to go. The older one knows better and was like no big deal it happens all the time. The younger one ( 8 yes old ) had a very hard time with it. My daughter asked what was wrong and her Nana explained to her that some times she feels sad when daddy says he is coming to take her but gets sick and can't, well that was how he was feeling. I hope she knows how much her dad realy cares. But I think they would have perfered being home last yesterday.
My daughter is so cute. She has all her things in her room already and all set up. Her lamp and cd playing and jewlery box and her posters hung up. She is so cute. I missed them so much.
The baby made out like a bandit. He will be playing with all those toys soon enough.
So Christmas is over for another year. Hoping next year will be better.
Hope you all had a good one. And a better new year.

Thank you so much. I do try.
We took the kids to a hockey game last night. My daughter is in brownies and it was a cookie kick off thing going on. All the girl scouts got in about 2 hrous before the public and they had thigns going on for the girls and their famlies. Then we hung out for the game. The Monarchs lost but it was fun. Next is Dinsey on Ice. THsi year it is Finding Nemo. WE always make sure we have moeny for this. It is becoming a tradition. The kids and I have been 3 times now and my husband has been twice. He was not here for the first one we went to. The kids look forward to it each year. We left the baby with friends yesterday as it was going to be a long day. They love him to death any way and were glad to have him. He will go to the ice show with us though. It wont be as long of a day and I think he will enjoy that.
And getting dumped on with yet more snow. We have about 8 or 9 inches again. This is record breaking snow for the month of Dec. since they started keeping track of it way back when.

Glad to hear that Christmas overall went well. It's hard not having them on Christmas morning..I know exactly how you feel!! But, I found that even though its hard not having them in Christmas, no matter when you celebrate it, it's still special!! Now, next year you and I will be celebrating because we'll have the kids on Christmas!!! You alternate year's like I do right???
I've always wanted to go to the Disney on ice. We're so far out in the boon dock's though that everytime we find out about it..which is almost two hours away it's too late...Oh well. Hope you and the family enjoy it!!!

THe divorce papers say we are to alternate but we don't. He has had them every year on THanksgiving and I have had them for Christmas and on Easter I have them in the morning and then they go with their Nana to their dads for the rest of the day. I get them back that evening. It has worked just fine for us but he wanted them for Christmas one year and he wanted to do it before my new baby got old enough to know what Christmas is.
I will let ya know how Disney on Ice goes. You should check it out on line about when the dates are when it will be close to you. Where we go is about an hour south of us. Not to bad. We can't wait. Have to come up with the money now.

Well Grady has his first tooth. He is growing so fat. He is about 19 lbs. now.
Dean is loving his baby brother so much. He is in Cub Scouts and we got ticket to Finding Nemo on ice for half the ticket price through his cub scouts. We go on Friday. We go every year. This year we get to take Grady. That should be fun.
Jessa is becoming a teenager way to early. She will be 9 this summer and is already wanting to call her friends and have them come over, We are plannign her first sleep over.
Between work and kids and life I hardly have time to breath. I am loving it all though. Wouldn't have it any other way.
Here are a couple of new pictures of the baby. He loves my mountain
bottles , him playing on the floor and his dad put his hair into a mohawk.

Well Grady is over 13 months old now. He is no longer on a bottle and he has had his first hair cut. ( I will post some pictures soon, I still have to e-mail them to family as well ). He has seen the ocean for the first time and runs all over this place like he has been walking and running for years. I put him in his crib tonight to start a different bed time rutine with him. He has to start going to bed and falling alseep instead of falling asleep then us putting him to bed. A couple of nights of him crying it out and things will be ok I am sure. It is just so sad to see the hair go and the bottle go and now have to try to get him to bed at a normal bed time hour and in his bed. He is my last ( unless god willing we have another as we say we are done ) and I am sad to see him grow all though I know he will and has too. I will do what I need to do to help him along the way it is just sad to know I wont have a little one around much longer.

Well school is in. Jessa is in the 4th grade and Dean is in the 2nd. Jessa also had her first soccer game tonight. She did great. ( pictures when I get a min. to upload them ). Grady is into every thing. He runs now instead of walk lol. He reaches every thing. You can't leave anything near the endge of the counter or table or any where. We have had a busy summer. Well a busy Aug. Suze had been here from Australia. She goes home on Monday. We hate to see her go. My mom and little bother were here for a week. I have 2 freinds who are pregnant. My inlaws were up in July. Now it is back to getting the kids up and getting them off to school. I still baby sit one boy and am waiting to hear on a 5 month old. If I don't get him I have to find another child to watch. I love being able to stay home. Pick my kids up from school and no worries about where they will be when there is no school and what not. I still hate house work but have to do more of it now that I am home all day. Not that I am not working while I am here lol. So that is life in a nut shell at the moment. So much going on and not enough hours in a day.

I am one of 5 ... and my mom used to get flustered every now and then and call us by the wrong name so she gave us alternate names ...
We are Andy, Bruce, Cameron, Duncan and Elizabeth (yes we were named alphabetically). The alternate names that she gave the boys before I came along -Sam, Joe, Peter and Michael. The alternate names after I came along - Eeenie, Meenie, Mynie, Mo and NoMo (as in no more!)

That made me think of a vantrilaquist (sp?) that I watched as a kid. There was this purple puppet named peanut. When asked his siblins names he said eeenie, meenie, mynie and Fred. The guy said what happened to Mo and his answer was " Oh she dind't want no Mo!" lol
I mix up their real names as well as the nick names. Not so much Sissy as Bubba and Bubby, I mess those ones up all the time. Dean will say I'm not Bubby I;m Bubba.

A funny thing about Grady's nick name. HE is named after his great great grandfather on his dads side. His name sake Grady had a brother. His brothers nick name is Bubby. Nicholas did not even put 2 and 2 together. The nick name just came out one day and that was what we all started calling him. Nicholas was on the phone with his Nana one day and she mentioned going to visit Bubby. Then it hit Nicholas. Kinda funny realy. His name and nick name are family names and we didn't even realize it.
