Soups, stews and chili are popular when it is cold out. So what is your favorite of these things?
If you have any recipes, feel free to PM them to me for the upcoming OW Recipe eBook ;)
Me; Chili is always good, I like to make it too. I also like creamy chicken noodle soup and potato soup; I have made potato soup myself, but not the chicken one. DH doesn't like soup much so I only make it for myself.
I made some potato soup today with broccoli, chicken and cheese; it was so good ... well, I thought so at least :frogg:

My mom used to make the best chili. I was just saying this morning how I wished I had some of her chili. It's freezing in my office!
I'm usually not really big on soups, but I love potatoes, broccoli, and cheese. Mmmm. Wonton soup is also pretty yummy. LOL We had Chinese the other night, and the soup was delicious.

Yeah, I like Wonton soup when we get Chinese food. It has been a while since I had any, may have to get some of that this weekend.

"Stoup" LOL - first I thought this was a typo, but then I see it is a fairly stick soup that it is sort of like a stew too ;) So am I right?

NicksBride - what's the recipe?? what's the recipe?? (I love soups, stews and stoups - with fresh buns... mmmmmmmmmm)
ETA - oh yes.. chili too! really thick stuff - and probably the only consistent thing in my chili is the ground beef and some sort of tomato - sauce, paste, juice, soup - then I add mushrooms, corn, celery - no beans usually..you just never know. :D

I LOVE soup! Hehe :)
I make an awesome potatoe chowder, sometimes I add smoked salmon to it. Mmmmm. I also make a very easy Mexian Soup, and some lentil and rice ones. Another of my faves has to be my white chili recipe. Since FH and I don't eat red meat. It has cubed chicken in it, and is nice and spicey!

We love soup!! I used to make a big pot of soup at the beginning of the week so I would have something to eat when I didn't have time to cook. Haven't done that in a while though. I love Indian lentil soup w/ a yogurt sauce. I also love a well spiced black bean soup. Matzoh ball soup is really good too as long as the matzoh balls aren't too dense. Cauliflower soup...veggie bean chili (with cornbread!)...dumplings... Yum!

One of my favorite soups is broccoli cheese. I just bought a thing of it from this restaurant I went to with my aunt. It's just broccoli, cheese, and noodles but it's so yummy!

I'm the fifth generation of my family to enjoy our traditional chicken soup. I learned it from my mom, she learned it from my grandma, my grandma learned it from HER grandmother (wonder why it skipped a generation?) and it probably goes back farther in time than that, although we only have it handed down from my grandmother.
It's SO EASY -- anybody can do it, including my FH whose concept of 'cooking' always involved 'Take X out of the box' as the first step -- until he met me. He learned how to make the soup after watching me do it a couple times.
He's also learned how to make lasagna from scratch and other things that are non-processed. (More on that in another thread!)
anyway, the soup is YUMMY and I always make gallons of it every winter. Just made some a couple days ago, as a matter of fact, in time for the first real snowstorm (6-10 inches, ugh, 4 so far and it's only been snowing for 6 and a half hours!)

My grandma makes the most amazing vegetable soup--she's passed it to my mom but I haven't *quite* figured it out yet. It's sooo good though.
Some things you can never quite make like grandma used to! That's how I feel about several of the passed down recipes that I have...they're just missing a little something.

So this thread made me make Cheeseburger soup the other night! here it is.. yum yum! It has hamburger, potatos, a small amount of carrots and onions (I dont even like onions though and they don't bother me in here) some milk, velveta(sp?) cheese and umm some chicken broth.. It is soo yummy and hardy! The picture does it NO justice!

I LOVE beef stew. It is so much better the next day after it sits. I also love corn chowder. The graocery store ehre makes an awsome corn chowder. I think it is called a western corn chowder. They only have it once in a while so when they do and DH is shopping ( he always makes sure to check for me ) he gets me a big container of it. I like chili too.
I craved that corn chowder when I was pregnant. I got lucky as they had it all the time back then lol. It has just the right kick to it. The spices are so awsome.
