DH and I like modern, clean and simple things and not alot of color.
Most everything in our home is black and white; we have a light color laminate wood floors, white walls, black couches, black table and chairs, and we have very few things on the walls.
We still need to remodel the bedroom, bathrooms and the kitchen too; I can't wait. The bedroom will have light gray walls with white trim, the floors are already the same laminate as the rest of the house.
The master bathroom will be black, white and gray too. We do plan to do the guest bathroom in sort of rust/tan tones.
Well I'll be the polar opposite of Brandi and say that we like color! :frogg:
Bathroom - fuschia & turquoise towels that play off of our funky colorful pin up girl martini shower curtian
Kitchen - lots of bright red and yellow accents. We like a bright and cheerful kitchen. Kind of like Rachael Ray's old kitchen set. I don't like the new one!
The rest of the house is more earth tones though: light browns, greens, blues. Something relaxing and soothing to watch tv or go to bed.
We have our favorite artwork that we are going to play off of in pretty much every room. Our apartment isn't going to flow from room to room, but that's us. We're eclectic.

....**** piled everywhere... seriously we have 3 closets, 700 sq ft and no storage lol. Okay... but seriously I thin k problaby something... like the older houses with the rounded molding on the ceiling? Ugh... I spent the day with 2 year olds and it's getting late, don't try to understand me =)
Beige Beige Beige! Our house is very light. Cream colored walls with oak trim. Beige leather couch (we have a golden retriever who sheds). Our master bedroom is still in the neutral colors, cream color above the chair rail and "wet pebble" below it. However, our spare bathroom is light green. My favorite!

I can't wait to get a house and start decorating and fixing it up! We will probably have to get a fixer upper home. We can paint here at the apartment but we'd have to paint it back before we move out. So we haven't painted.
I like different styles, it just depends. I love decorating magazines and stuff. I find so many that I like, but of course I can't have like 10 kitchens, or 10 bathrooms ya know. Lol.

We have everything earth-toned right now. However, there's one room that I've already painted/redecorated twice since I've lived here (9 months). He gave me that one room to change anytime I want to because I need my freedom. LOL
The rooms right now are various shades of brown...from glazed chocolate brown (looks like leather) to light tan. The spare bathroom is a sage green. The guest room (the one I get to change any time) is golden yellow right now. We have all white trim.
I love to decorate, though!! I love knick-knacks and my favorite thing to shop for is house stuff. I love adding my stuff to his!! :frogg:

Well, right now everything is BEIGE!!! I really hate it because I think it's boring... carpets, walls, everything.
We can't wait to start remodeling, but first we've got to get this wedding thing out of the way. :hi:
But when we do.... oh boy, I already have plans for the living room down pat:
bamboo floors, burnt orange wall color, crown moulding, tile entryway (since we don't have a defined entrance, this will help), built-in coat rack/shoe rack, long bookcase to get rid of the two smaller ones we have, floor rug, and repaint the coffee table.
Haven't really planned out the rest of the house, but I know it'll ALL be redone... including the outside house color... right now it's a pale yellow with green shutters... too country cottage for me!

me and fh luckily have pretty much the exact same taste in houses--he bought his place a few years ago and we renovated the entire thing. Now that I'm moving in, I'm so glad the I love all the things he wanted for the house...
our style is...um...i don't know what you'd call it...Country maybe? lots of wood, lots of pale colours, plaid chesterfield set...lots of model tractors around the house...and other farm inspired decorations (cowboyhat shaped hooks, cowboy boot laterns....):cloppy:

The worst part of rentals is having to live with the same ugly beige color on every single wall of the house :( I can't wait to own a home I can paint whatever color I want!
My style is very eclectic. Things definitely don't match in my house! It's partially modern, partially old world, partially shabby chic, etc. Whenever we do own a home, I want the living room burnt orange, the kitchen bright yellow, with red cabinets and curtains everywhere. For some reason, I want the bedroom to be deep purple. I saw it one time and loved it.

FH AND I KIND OF AGREE. we like Earth tones - However, the one thing we DONT agree on is WHITE WALLS. he wants all white walls- "simplistic" he calls it, i call it plain. However, we do have Knockdown on the walls so it brings a little life.
Our rooms are
Kitchen: This room is my favorite as far as theme/scheme- we have dark brownish/burnt colored walls with colored marble countertop, everything is stainless steel and black inside the kitchen. I think it goes well
Dining room: Glass table top, Light green and stainless steel chairs.
Living room: Dark Brown microsuede couches, Light Green accents, throw pillows and chenille blanket on couches (Light green) and glitz.. All my throw pillows have swarvoski crystals on them and i have a couple crystal figurines in there and then i have my crystal vase with a GROGEOUS arrangment of fake flowers.. this room is definatly my creation, can you tell ??
Master Bedroom: White and Brown Comforter, light wood dresser and a small wicker basket -- SIMPLISTIC ... i hate clutter in a bedroom.. we have glass closet door and those hide the clutter :) Master Bath- Attached: Continuation of our room so there is a wicker bench, beige run, light yellow/beige shower curtain one wicker basket with magazines
Media Room- OUR FUN ROOM.. these have "NY Yankee blue" walls and sports and poker memoribilia on the walls. Beige couches and a poker rug. This rooms color scheme is Blue, Beige and black (our media equiptment we purchased in all black to match) :) This is my favorite room cuz its FUN!!!
Extra room: White walls, NO scheme in there yet! Im working on it
Extra Bath: Black and Beige marble tile. When i do the bathroom this will be the staple of the theme. I am thinking of painting the walls a crazy color one night while FH is at work and going from there :)

Bringing this thread back 'cause I like it!
My style is classic/eclectic with a touch of vintage Edwardian thrown in for good measure. His is classic dark late Victorian/Edwardian, with stained glass and leather wingback chairs and horsehair upholstery, etc. I like that look but not a whole room! And I don't think I could stand to live in a whole house decorated in a vintage Victorian style.
Currently the plans for the home we're in the process of buying include:
Formal Living Room: Leaving the blush-toned brick fireplace and the wood scrolled and embellished Victorian mantle the way it is. Leaving the dark red colored floor the way it is, the paint is wearing off naturally and showing the golden hardwood underneath for a very cool effect. Put a chair rail around all four walls that matches the mantle. Paint underneath the chair rail a dark sage green and paint above the rail a green that's 1-2 shades lighter. This will complement our hunter green sofa set and the wooden tables, also the Southwest type accents, the throw rugs and the afgan and pillows. Bronze or gold silk curtains will go from the top of the windows to the floor, and we're going to get rid of the giant mirror that's above the mantle. We'll replace it with a collection of framed wedding photos. We're also going to get rid of the current fire grate and replace it with a grate that I saw in a store -- it's wrought iron on either side, and the center piece is a piece of oval stained glass, of a bird surrounded by flowers. It will look simply splendid.
Front Bedroom: Since this is the guest bedroom, the decor is going to be fairly neutral. I'd like a provencal French white and blue color scheme with white crown molding on the ceiling and paint the baseboards white. Leave the golden hardwood the way it is and paint the walls a lovely mid-tone blue-grey. Accent with blue toile cotton floor-length curtains and Fiance's vintage art deco dresser set, which is a dark cherry wood. This bedroom is average size for a bedroom (about 11x13) but I don't want to make it feel smaller than it is.
Library: This is the second main-floor bedroom and it's smaller than the guest room. Since most of our bookshelves are 7' or taller, and half of them are a very dark fudge brown (almost black), I'm considering painting the walls a lighter shade that complements the bookshelves. Not pastel, a rich color, but one that will take second place to the books. If Fiance will let me, I'd like to paint the walls a warm color somewhere between rose and rust. More white crown molding!
Hallway: Because the hallway has no lighting and tends towards being a cave, I think I'll just paint it a warm white, maybe eggshell or creme brulee color. And we can hang family pictures on the walls, and perhaps, eventually, add some recessed lighting.
Kitchen: It's small, relatively (though large for the house), but bright, so I want to retain that brightness and make it warm and inviting. I am hoping eventually to tile the floor with a warm Mexican tile (those rusty/orange colored ones) and to bring in hints of blue and grey in the tile backsplash. I know the trend right now is for those tiny glass tiles for backsplashes but I think they're ugly, they remind me of my highschool locker room! I'd like to paint the kitchen a very light mocha brown, to keep with the warm Southwestern theme.
Office: Right now it's just a small room behind the kitchen, with brown wood panelling on the walls and flecked cream linoleum on the floor. Maybe we can paint the office the same mocha color as the kitchen.
Master Bedroom: Right now it's got completely uninspired grey carpet up there and well-kept knotty pine paneling. I want to whitewash the knotty pine so that you can still see the knots and all, but so that we're not overwhelmed with the dark wood. I think, again, a nice warm white almost to tan would do nicely, and be neutral enough to work with my blonde and sage green bedroom set -- and whatever other furniture we buy. The master upstairs is HUGE and there's easily room for a sitting area. We'll see.
Basement: It's mostly finished, and what's not finished needs to stay that way (furnace room and so on). There's a bonus room that we'll use for crafts and sewing, that doesn't need to be done up -- it is the basement after all! The main room is fine the way it is for now. We'll move the television and its entertainment center down there, and pick up a used couch (and maybe a couple comfy chairs, recliners or something) from Craigslist so that we can watch television in comfort. Otherwise, there's nothing else that has to get done right away, though I'd like to add some shelving to the laundry room and either tile it or paint it with that stuff that you paint garage floors with.
Wow, that was long! But you asked! :)

My whole house is earth tones.... The whole house is kind of open concept, so it helps flow from one room to the next. EXCEPT for my downstairs bathroom, tht is two different color blues with fish stuff everywhere!

Our style is very casual/laid back and neutral. Our house is all ivory and white with dark wood accents... our living room has vaulted ceilings with skylights, and I love the natural light, so our furniture is cream and warm wood, with accents of sea blue/teal (so it's got a beachy feel to it without being all out seashells and palm trees). The guest bath is done in the same colors (driftwood, cream, aqua blue) and the guest room will be soon, too.
Our bedroom is chocolate brown and taupe... very warm, luxurious textures (velvet, chenille, and really, really good sheets.... I'm all about good linens).
We have TONS of framed photos, both of us, and family, all over the house, and then various small inspirational plaques my Mom has sent (and of course, candles). I've also got some art items and B & W photos from my Gramma's house on display (she passed away a couple years ago). Also a painting my Mom did, and another my Aunt did.
After the wedding, we need pretty much new furniture all around, but we'll keep the same color pallette/feel....

I agree WebLady, we keep things very simplistic! I can't stand having too much clutter. I love natural colors and neutrals.
Our living room has a lot of creams and natural woods with a few green hints (a few house plants, pictures of leaves and trees, etc.).
Our kitchen is going to have black granite countertops with natural wood cupboards and maybe a few bright blue accents. And stainless steel appliances are lovely.
We're actually changing our bedroom theme from deep reds, pinks and oranges to green and cream. Having a dark, exotic 'Buddhist' themed room seemed like a romantic idea in my head, but when our room started looking dark and depressing, I decided to lighten it up with a more clean look. Now we have lots of bright vibrant greens (like Apple green), cream and natural wood.
Our bathroom is decorated to match my shower curtain, which is white/cream with purple flowers on it. FH hates that we have purple in our bathroom, lol.
Our other bathroom has a black and white Japanese theme. The shower curtain is white with about 8 black squares, and in each square is a Japanese word.
And Josiah's room is being transformed from baby Snoopy stuff to Pirates, lol. He loves pirates.
And FH's office...well it's FH's to decorate. And because he's a guy, it has no theme. And is always a mess, lol.

I've been married so long that I started out being early american (yep, that was a style) to very contempory. I like very funky & different. I get a lot of ideas from HGTV. The house I live in now for 18 yrs, I have redecorated 3 times. I get bored fast but I like to keep up with the times.

We don't have any one style. We like color and I try to keep furniture in each room matching (as far as black/white/light wood/dark wood)...but apart from that we just kinda do what we think looks good. Each room has its own personality.

I so want to do our bedroom in earth tones, but my hubby won't let me paint the walls ( they are a plain white) And I want to go to a sage green of sorts with white window trim and paint the baseboards white and throw in some tan, brown and maybe some yellow..errrr:irked:
