Bridal Luncheon

Missmess asked a bridal luncheon question and it occurred to me that I have no clue what that is exactly, why you have it, who comes, etc. Somebody fill me in! :geek:

How many of you are having one?

From what I understand this would be for the bride and bridal party and sometimes the mothers. I have heard of these luncheons being held between one and two weeks prior to the wedding to a couple of days before or even the day of.

Sort of in appreciation for everyone being in the wedding and throwing you showers and such; and to get together and girl chat ;)

We are doing it the day before as kind of a Thank you, last minute work and pool party! Since we are not having a real rehearsal, the ladies and I will also go over and check out the place to see where to stand etc.

In 50% of the other weddings I have been in they did something, either bridal luncheon or took us to dinner before the wedding! I do not think it is mandatory though. :)

I am having a bridesmaids luncheon ... hosted by 2 of my aunts. (if no one offers to host it for you, then the bride/MOB should host it). They are not mandatory but are a nice gesture. We are holding mine a week before on a Saturday at my aunt's house. She lives in this beautiful mansion and we are going to have it catered. Brandon and his dad are taking the groomsmen on a golfing outing the day before our wedding as their "GroomsMen Luncheon" --- The lunch part consisting of KFC and beer!

Well, I've never even heard of the luncheon concept so if I don't have one I think that it will be perfectly fine. I guess it's not that common around here. I'd like to do one if we have the available funds/time though. It sounds fun!

I am actually going to have more than one luncheon for my girls! Our first one is in January (the wedding is in June) and it's basically to gear up for the re-enactment photo shoot of me trying on gowns at David's Bridal that will happen right after lunch. I don't know where we're going to hold it. It's basically an informal lunch meeting before the photo shoot, when I want all my girls to be there.
