If I remember right, Gwen is having a cupcake cake...
I have seen quite a few unusual cakes in my shopping around as well...some of them I couldn't even imagine using...but whatever floats your boat.

Those are some funky cakes. Yes i am doing a cup cake cake. We are having an 8" round cake on the top to hold our cake top. And the rest of it is going to be about 60 cupcakes. We are going to have fun making this.
I went to a bridal show today and there was a lady there who decorates fake cakes. You rent the cake and she decorates it in what ever colors and style you want. You use this as the show piece. When it comes time to cut the cake she said you have a piece of cake on a plate on the table behind the cake for you two to cut and feed each other. Then the caters or who ever wheels the cake to the kitchen where you have a sheet cake that costs about $35 and they cut and serve that. She said that you save about $200 to $200 depending on how many guests you have.
The cakes are beautiful. And she rents center pieces. Like towers of flowers and canlde with flowers and such. And she rents the card boxes.
It was interesting.

Any ideas of what I could do with my cake let me know. I have no idea what I am doing yet I just know I am having the small round cake on the top and then about 60 or so cupcakes. but how to decorate them and the stand I still have no idea yet.

I saw this in a book about budget tips for a wedding. They suggested buying sheet cakes and then decorating a styrofoam cake on your own. That way you can do it months before the wedding if you wanted and didn't have to pay a cake maker. Hate to say it, but I like the idea of the cake maker....
