I think I have seen some of these type shows on the WE (women's entertainment) Channel, Oxygen and TLC.

ETA - I think that 'Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?' is on the Style Network.

I used to watch a show... I don't remember what channel or what it was called, but the couple would like set a budget then disappear, and their families together with a planner would plan their entire wedding in like a week, and the couple would just show up and hope for the best. I liked that one. I don't really watch tv now so I don't know whats out there :(

Googled it--For Better or For Worse. It looks like it ended in 2005. How sad!

You sure can! I saw it in Blockbuster the other day! I almost got it, but I've already seen them all, so what's the point?

I watch Bridezillas and Rich Bride Poor Bride. Every once in awhile I'll watch Platinum Weddings, but I get pretty green with envy, and FH said I turn mean :)

I liked "Say yes to the dress", watched a run of several episodes in one day, but didn't get a chance to see it again. And I also like "Wildest weddings", but it could also be cause Scott's best friend's wedding was on it. lol

Rich Bride, Poor Bride is pretty good (i like watching the small interviews with the sane people in the middle LOL)..I miss the one they had on TLC.. Where they had $5,000 to work with, and the bride and groom got surprised in the end. I wanted to be on that show!! LOL

Oh oh! I'm really excited to hear that a new seaon of Say Yes to the Dress will be starting soon! I'm a complete addict to that one. I even had my FH and future brother in law watching it with me and commenting on dresses. About half way through they both realised what they were doing and asked where their wallets were. I was confused. The FH explained that they needed to get out their man cards to give to me lol!

Bridezillas... oh man. MANY times that show leaves me thinking WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE GETTING MARRIED? I saw one last night with this blonde girl who was SCREAMING at her husband to write his vows. She was throwing such a tantrum and at one point even pretended to pass out on the bed (until someone sprayed her with cleaner!). Can you imagine trying to write vows expressing your love to someone who is screaming at you like that?

Watching that show makes me feel a LOT better too! About how I've acted throughout the wedding process... and how AWESOME my relationship is!

I liked this show but they seem to play the same episode over and over. Also, its not fun for me to watch brides who have "budgets" of 5,000. I think they should have a Say Yes To the Dress: David's Bridal under $500 series!!!

I so totally agree with you!!! It even makes me mad to see $1500 dresses. You are only going to wear it for a short while and then it will sit in a box, i guess i just can't rationalize spending that much on 1 dress. There are so many more things I could think of to spend that money on.

I dunno if it was bridezillas I was watching or rich bride poor bride, but I kinda think its creepy to see those chicks who want "satanic" things in there weddings, or better yet having your wedding in a graveyard....( yes some people actually did have there wedding in a graveyard, now thats reeeeeal sacred....):snide:

I really love watching "Say yes to the dress" "Rich Bride Poor Bride" and "Wedding SOS" I could sit and watch those all day and we are already married! LOL!! Now I am into baby shows because I am pregnant but I was watching those before too!!

I watch and TIVO them all. I try to hide how many I'm watching from my FH. I was a big fan of Bridezillas until a friend of a friend actually was one. It's totally produced (at least hers was) so it's ruined it a little for me. I do like Platnium Weddings though. It gives me some good ideas. Just have to figure out how to pull them off with just a drop in the bucket to their budgets. Budget, what am I saying, they don't have budgets on that show!

Princess- was your friend of a friend a memorable episode? Do share the details in case any of us remember her!!!

I love Say Yes to the Dress, too. I like that stupid saleslady with the russian accent (who everyone HATES!). I like looking at all the pretty dresses! There is also another new one I saw a commercial for but can't remember the name. Something about two choreographers and teaching couples their first dance.

I just saw the commercials for that yesterday "Rock the Reception" I set my DVR to record it, because they choreograph for "So you think you can dance". If we had had that opportunity I totally would have done it.

I like Platinum Weddings because it inspires me to make knock-offs of stuff I see that's really cool :) Obviously I can't afford $500 centerpieces (and that's $500 EACH) but I *can* probably buy or borrow tall vases (thank you dollar store, Craigslist and friends and family!) and single stem, dramatic flowers (orchids, birds-of-paradise, etc) and make a tall, dramatic eye-catching centerpiece that was inspired by the expensive one on the television show.

Or, drape my receotion location in $1/yard tulle and Christmas lights instead of $20/yard silk and individually wired LED lights.

There's always a way to get for cheap the expensive stuff they show on television.

I also love Ace of Cakes (I think that's a wedding show because they make a LOT of wedding cakes). Chef Duff would probably deliver here, but we can't afford $5/mile (their out of town delivery fee, IIRC) from Maryland to Minnesota! Nor can we go to Baltimore, get the cake, and drive it back ourselves. His cakes have, however, inspired us and we've found somebody local who is willing to at least try some fancy decoration (for $1/slice, gotta love it).

I like watching fancy wedding shows for inspiration. I start thinking to myself, 'Hmm, I really like that, how can I re-create it on my tiny budget?'. I've gotten a lot of cool ideas.

I have seen "Whose Wedding is it Anyway", "Say Yes to the Dress" and "Rock the Reception". The last is definitely my favorite, even though I am an alteration specialist and all about the fit of the gown. (Loved "Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jett").
I am probably more relaxed as a second time bride, but I definitely did not stress this much over my first wedding.
It is a CELEBRATION. It is about joining two lives. It is magical, mystical, and (hopefully) for the rest of your life. Sometimes you make a mistake, but you get a second chance. I did , and am eternally grateful.
