My name is Angel, I am a 24-year-old soon-to-be married Children's Protective Services Worker from Michigan. My FH is Joel and he is also my best friend. We have been together for a little over three years, and we've been engaged for just under one. We are getting married on 9/15/2006.

Joel and I met a little over three years ago when we were both still in college and working at a mortgage company that our friends grandparents owned. When we met I had just gotten out of a four year relationship with my ex-fiance. I definitely was not expecting to find anything serious that soon. Joel on the other hand had only been in one slightly serious relationship in his whole life, and that had ended over two years previously. So...needless to say, we were both caught off guard. Well when we met, I could not help but fall for his eyes, they are the most awesome blue color, and since her has dark hair and all that...and long eyelashes..I was a goner. Anyways, we were at the company Holiday Party (me with a date) and we got to talking. I come from a pretty, for lack of a better term, nonambitious and undereducated family, as well as an area where most of my friends and family never completed high school or really went very far, so when I met him and he had the same type of ambitions as me and was educated and had interests, etc., I was finally intellectually stimulated. Well, about a week after the party I asked him when he was going to ask me out. That was on a Friday and he said, "how about Tuesday", so I said yes. Well, Monday came, and I guess we just couldn't wait, because we went to lunch together and then went out Christmas shopping and to dinner after work. We still ended up going out on Tuesday, and I met the parents and sister then too, a little awkward, and he introduced me to his best friend and his gf, as "his girlfriend". Well, I liked the sound of that and realized that it was just right, even though we hadn'y even kissed yet. Anyways, I rambling, we;ve been together since.

Joel and I have lived together since six months after we got together, basically because I was still in college and my older brother threw me out, so I had no where to go. I moved in with him, at his parents (again awkward), and things actually went well. His mother is one of the greatest people you will ever meet, his sister is great as well, his dad, brother and future SIL could use some improvement, but no family is perfect, and next to mine..well anyways that's a whole new soap opera. We have now lived on our own for almost two years..and things couldn't be better..he is still my prince charming.

Last December I got layed off, indefinitely, and had to start looking for a new job. We were really tight on money and all I was getting is unemployment. One week in the beginning of January I went to Indiana to visit my aunt, who was having a very difficult time. My younger brother had been visiting from Colorado, so I took him with me. By the end of that week I was losing my mind, my aunt and my brother had pretty much driven me crazy, and I was ready to come home. Joel had been promising me all week that he was going to cook me a home made dinner and that we were going to spend the evening together. I had just driven all the way back from Indiana and was dropping my younger brother off at my older brother's house, when I realized that I had a voicemail on the cell phone. It was Joel, saying that he ahd been to his mom's for dinner the night before and that he had been feeling sick all day, so he had come home from work early. He wnated me to call him and let him know when I was close to kome, so that he could get up and try to cook dinner. I called him, and he sounded horrible, so I told him not to worry about it and that he could just cook for me when he feels better. I was disappointed. Anyways, so I drive home, smelling like a carton of cigarettes from my aunt's house, and when I open the door there is a path of red and pink rose petals, red and pink roses and pink and white candles running all the way from the door, around the corner and into the bedroom. Before the turn into the bedroom there was a sheet of paper that he had typed out. I read it, and it was a beautiful declaration of his love for me. I did not realize until the end that it was a proposal (which is exactly how he set it up) and I rounded the corner, where the path continued, and at then end he was knelt down on one knee, dressed in a black suit and tie, on a black pillow, holding a ring box. By this time I was in tears. He asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes. I then took a shower to get rid of the cigarette smell, we went to his parents to show and tell, and then went out to dinner at a restaurant where he had made reservations. It was beautiful and perfect.

Here's what I saw when I walked in the door!!!

and Joel w/ring..I knew making him reenact it would serve a purpose one day!!!

Now we have been planning a wedding that we have to pay for ouselves and are spending way too much money on...but anyways. We have found the ceremony and reception site, gotten my dress, found the dj, gotten the favors, picked our attendants, and gotten the card box/wishing well. I still feel like I have not done anything. I was trying to fiqure out how to attach photos or insert them, but I have not been able to do so yet, so I attached the link to the ceremony/reception site, if anyone is interested in checking it out...it is way too expensive, but it is beautiful and we fell in love with it.

OK girls...it has been forever since I have updated this thing. I have decided that I should probably do that. Since January...we have booked the officiant, DJ, florist, ordered the cake, ordered the linens, selected the menu, decided on some of the music, booked our photographer and pretty much determined the guest list. I will get into detail on each item in additional posts, so that they are organized.

AngelinLove
05-23-2006, 02:35 PM
We were having some difficulty finding an officiant...because they were either too expensive, booked or too far away. I actually started a thread awhile back about that specific issue. Anywho, I eventually was able to get a hold of one of the non-denominational minsters that is referred by our venue. One night Joel and I met with him at a coffee house after work. It was actually kind of funny, because I just picked this random coffee house, and it ended up being a Christian coffee house with bible study groups and everything. Anyways...the minister was very nice. He is a chaplain for the county that we live in and has a lot of great experiences. He was down to earth and we really liked him. He siad that his wife will probably come with him, especially because of the venue that we chose...which I guess can be difficult when coordinating the ceremony...so thats he can help coordinate the bride and bridesmaids...while he focuses on the groom and groomsmen. Anyways, he was very reasonably priced-$300.00-and even gave us the idea of having a hand ceremony, since we are getting married outside and a unity candle is just too much work.

I'm not sure what I might have previously posted about the DJ. This aspect was very important to me, becuase I need to feel comfortable with the person that will be keeping things on track the whole night, I love music and dancing, and I needed to make sure that the person could handle the venue, since the bar, dining area, ceremony area, and dance floor are all in different areas. Well, we ended up spending WAAAAYYY!!! more on our DJ than we had originally planned for. We had origiannly budgeted about $700.00. We went and met with a company that already has an entire system set up at our venue, including the speakers disquised as rocks for the gazeboa area where we are getting married. The couple that owns the company was awesome, especially the female-Natalie. There are other DJ's through the company-which were less expensive (still over our budget)-and we watched videos of quiute a few, but in the end we both determined that we felt the most comfortable with Jeff and Natalie. Unfortuantely it is going cost us $1350.00 for them-for the ceremony and reception....but sometimes I guess you get what you pay for.

Okay...the florist. This one was another one that caused me to start a thread here and panic. We are using all silk flowers for our centerpieces and decorations for the gazebo. We are using silk rose petals for the guest table centerpieces and red and white silk roses for the centerpieces fo rthe head table and that gazebo arrangements. I want to have real flowers for the bouquets and bouts and corsages. Well, we called a few places, sent some emails, and had some consulations...and the estimates were anywhere from $650.00-$800.00 for what we wanted, which again, was way over our budget. Fortunately my SIL (my older brother's wife) hooked me up with the woman who did her mother's arrangements and bouquets for her wedding last year. I was able to get the Bridal bouquet, which will be 2 dozen red roses, with filler, and hand-tied in some fancy way; five BM bouquets, whcih will be one dozen cream colored roses with filler and hand-tied the same way, 9 bouts and three corsages for $270.00. I was soooo excited and grateful.

I ordered the cake...it will look exactly like the one that I posted in the beginning of the journal. There will be three layers. The first will be vanilla cake with bavarian cream filling, the second will be yellow cake with strawberry filling, and the third layer will be chocolate with chocolate bavarian cream filling. I am excited...I love chocolate!!!! The cake will be done by a woman by the name of Dawn...I believe she is one of the vendors on here...and she is great. She even helped me with teh contract. She has great options, is informative, and has great prices. My cake will serve 196 (I believe that's it), and is only costing me $360.00. Whcih includes tax, set-upa nd delivery. I was very grateful for that deal as well.

As for linens. Well we decided to go with white tablecloths and chair covers, with claret (deep red) satin sashes. There will also be napkins that alternate between the red satin and the white. Since our favors will be red and white 10" cadles roses, they will also alternate, so that the red roses are with white napkins and vice versa. For the head table there will be claret skirting.

We decided to have a buffet style dinner, just so that there will be more options. We will be having seasoned top round of beef w/carver, which will be served medium-rare and well-done and chicken fromaggio, red-ribboned green beans, honey belgian carrots, julienne potatoes w/blended cheeses and rosted garlic redskins, fresh garden salad with choice of dressings, pasta penne w/ tomato basil sauce and bread and butter. We will also have an open bar, so hopefully people won't get tooo drunk or oughta control..lol.

Yeah..they had the wedding and reception in the Pantiland Ballroom at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI. It is a very beautiful hotel with alot of elegance. I tried to dress appropriately, but keep some of my own style. I am glad that I dressed up though...since I ended up being in some formal shots with his family.

Thanks Kacie and Karen!!! We try, lol!!! As for the table linens...they are beautiful...but we are only going to use the red sashes, because if we used to red linens I think that it would take over the rest of the room.....the dining room at the venue is narrow and kinda small. Anyways, I fell in love with the red linens and will use that them for my cakes table and the skirting around teh head table.

Well girls..today is the day that the bridal party is supposed to go pick out dresses...and I can tell ya now that it is gonna be a disaster...not to sound negative or pessamistic at all. One won't have any money until Friday, one is in Colorado, so I have to order her dress for her, one has not returned any of my calls or emails concerning said appointment and one has to be picked up by my fiance and driven all the way back home after the appointment. Atleast my fsil can be counted on to show up, be prepared and pay for her dress. I tell ya, I love these girls, but I am at the point right now where I am just soooo frustrated. Anyways her are soem of the options for the dresses. I am letting them pick their own style, but all in the same color.

Thanks!!! I really don't understand it...I am a pretty easy-going person most of the time, but I just don't know why people agree to be in your wedding paty if they are not willing to do what it takes and return phone calls and show up when and where they are needed. I have not asked my wedding party for much...honestly. Like lacey...I tend to believe that if you want something done right you usually have to do it yourself...and even when someone does offer to do something...you usually end up doing 95% of it anyhow. I just hope that this can work out!!!

Good luck to you as well...I hope that everything works out!!!

05-30-2006, 06:47 PM
Welll, I was right!!! First of all, I get an email thsi morning from the one bridesmaid that has not been returning my calls or emails for the past week or so. I have included it so that you all could see what wonderful news I received:

Angel,
Okay, I got your message and I have to work tonight until 9 so I won't be able to make it. There is also something else too. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how I can make things work and I just can't. This is what's going on and I've trying to figure it out for the last week and a half. I have another friend's wedding I'm in the same weekend as yours. When I originally talked to you guys a long time ago, I got the date and told her not to have it then, so she moved it for me. Then I didn't talk to you guys for awhile and now the date was different than before and it falls the same date. I can't do both and since I already had her move hers, I can't do yours. I've been really upset about the whole thing and I don't want this to ruin our friendship. I care about you and Joel very much and I hate to do this, but I don't know what else to do. I am soooooo sorry. I would still like to come to the shower and all that, but if you don't want me to, I understand. I know this is a crappy way of telling you, but I'm running out the door to work and I don't have a lot of time to talk. I'm going to call you after I get out of work. I wanted to let you know that I wouldn't be able to make it tonight, so that's why I dropped you a line now. I love you hun and I really and truly hope this doesn't ruin our friendship. I'll talk to you later tonight.
Your Friend,
****

Now I am usually a very understanding person, but why did she not tell me thsi as soon as she realized it, which ahd to have been atleast 6 weeks ago, because she was over at my apartment and we were going through all of the wedding stuff. Instead she waits until the last minute!!!

Then my SIL (brother's wife), whom I had to arrange transportation for, calls me at 2:45 PM to tell me that my brother (complete ***hole) isn't gonna be off work in time, so she has noone to care for the children...this of course means that she can't make it. This pisses me off, solely because my brother has known about thsi for a week now, and because he had already worked his regular shift and just didn't want to turn down teh overtime...so screw me I guess!!!

Then I find out that my maid of honor and my other bridesmaid (fsil) do not have any money to buy their dresses tonight, and will not have any until atleast nexy Friday. So what in the *#!! is teh point in going to get dresses...do they think that tehy give them out for free.

Fortunately I have recently reconnected with one of my oldest friends, who agreed to replace the bridesmaid that dropped out on me....which was very good...but it doesn't change the fact that I am dealing with all this **** that I don't think that I should have to worry about.

Joel has been getting very upset, because nothing is going right...meaning that people are not doing what theya re supposed to be doing...and I am very stressed out and upset over it.

Then there is the issue of my bridal shower....which I am not gonna go into right now...I guess I will save that whining and frustration for another post.

I am sorry that this is so long, but I am just sooooooo upset about this whole situation.

I'm sorry Angel! That sucks. If it were my friend, I'd kick her to the curb. She has NO excuse. And she shoudl have told you sooner and called instead of emailed! I hope everything works out for you honey!! Take care!

As much as I hate to say it Angel, you need to get used to everyone not doing their job. That is how your friends and family will act because you are having a wedding. And you are wrong, you won't do 95% of the work you wll do more like 99% of the work. That is just how it is, get used to it now.

I personally had to fire on bridesmaid because she went psycho on me. Then I find out that she has felt like our friendship had been falling apart for years now. She didn't even want to be in the wedding. Well, then why in the hell did she say yes, you ask? She thought that it would make things better. Because being jealous and petty and not coming through for someone during a time of incredible stress and frustration in their lives is always a good way to ment relationships, right? So I email her on her birthday wishing her a good one and I get this scathing page email back about how selfish and unthoughtful I was because I only emailed her and when I called her a few days before I sounded rushed and snippy. (Of course I did I was at work and I have about 5 minutes of free time at work on any given day!)

I had my two cousins do me the favor of showing up at the wedding and even staying for the pictures although they couln't make it to the reception to fulfill their bridesmaid duties because I wouln't let my older cousin bring her two kids to my adults only wedding that I let her know about 15 months before hand. Of course all day while the rest of us were having fun they sat in the corner keeping to themselves and not really joining in. Oh, and not only did they go home but that entire sid eof my family dind't show up to the ceremony or the reception because if you light one of them you slight them all.

Be happy your bm let you know early o. I had to get rid of mine with 60 days to go. Be happy you have a replacement. But I would let her know that you are disappointed that she dind't tell you over a month ago when she found out. And, I would limit my exposure to her. No matter the intentions things like this hurt a person when you fall through for their wedding. She needs to understand that. But, be prepared for a lot more bs to come your way beofre it is over. I had more than my fair share it seemed. But now that i is over, my wedding was still wonderful. Yours will be too.

Okay, I agree that your friend should have told you ahead of time and I think she also could have told you in person. Did you move your wedding date and that is what happened here or did the other girl move her wedding date twice?

Anyway, I think after you let some steam blow off that maybe you should open yourself up to letting her be your friend still. She sounds like she cares about you. You guys should probably have a long talk. Do not get me wrong, she made a big mistake.

Anyway I hope all is well for you and I hope your invitations look awesome!

Well, I got the invitations last night and I have to admit I am disappointed. I mean everything came out how I had asked, but I am disappointed by the quality of teh paper (weight, texture, etc.). I decided that I am just going to accept them how they are. I know that everything in not gonna be perfect and that I am probably the only one that will notice the quality of the invitations. I will scan one when I get hoem from work and try to post a pic then!!!

As for the issue with the ex-bm. I love her and I am not going to stop being her friend over thsi, but I am very upset. I feel that she should have told me in person...and as soon as she knew, whether it was 6 weeks ago, one week ago, or yesterday. I know that she didn't mean to screw me over. Anyways, what had happened was that our original date was 9/8/06. From what I gathered, her friend's date was the same. She told her friend that she couldn't, so her friend move dthe wedding date to 9/15/06. Well in Nov. when we booked our venue, they were booked for 9/8/06, so we changed to 9/15/06. Well, I didn;t talk to ex-bm for about five months, becuase everything was just soooo hectic in both of our lives. Apparently when we were going over everything about 6 weeks ago, she still didn't realize they were the same day. She stated that last week she and her friend were discussing the wedding and the date came up, which is when she realized.

I think I've seen those in a book at Hallmark and I don't think anyone will think anything about the quality of the paper. I think the paper looks fine. Like you said, you will be the only one who notices. The invitations I think I am going to order are not really high quality paper either. They are very pretty though!

I agree with you about your bridesmaid. I am glad you are still going to be her friend. I believe that is the right thing to do. The fault I give her is not telling you in person and it seemed like she kinda blew you off. She probably avoided telling you because she was nervous. It's petty, but some people do that. However, I am glad that you guys will still be friends. I think that is the best thing for you to do.

Thanks Kacie!!! I feel that by ending my friendship with her over this would make me way pettier that anything she could have done. I mean, she has NEVER done anything in the past that would make me doubt her loyalty as a friend and I do not believe that it was intentional!!! As for the invitations...I hope they will grow on me!!!

I read your journal for the first time and you are having a beautiful wedding. The colors are just gorgeous and all of it looks beautiful. It almost makes me wish i could do it over again. :o but not quite. Both of you look so happy together. and you make quite a handsome couple. I love the way he proposed to you. He must be a true romantic. Lucky you!!! You seem to be taking everything well, what with the bridesmaid and all. This is very good. Don't lose your friendship over it. she appears to honestly care for you. I agree she should have let you know sooner though.

Once more, everything looks great and beautiful.

I took soem pictures, but I have to go to CVS and put them on a disk, and then upload them to my Computer before I can post them...but I will do that today. Mine was supposed to be in in January....I think it was March before it actually arrived! I was a little upset but I still had lots of time! lol. :) I also love your veil and tiara...how will you do your hair?? I think something upswept with some curls coming down would love gorgeous with the gown...something like Cinderella-ee. lol.Or something like what Drew Barrymore has her done in Ever After...for the ball!! Angel, every single time I see your dress it reminds me of Amber's dress. I even asked Amber if your dress looked similar to hers, and she said yes. Yours is way more ornate than Amber's and yours has sleeves, but I think they are from the same dress maker. They are so much alike. Who made yours?

I'm the same way about my hair. I think I seriously went 2 years in highschool with my hair down. I am wearing it up for my wedding this month but I have no clue what I am going to do with it. I'm afraid its too short for anything. (although it does come down to the middle of my shoulder blades!)

Everything looks so great and your wedding is going to be great, I can just tell!

No, I guess it's just a coincidence how much they resemble each other. Mostly, the same colors, the chiffon overlay, the same color stitching, and the way the crystals are in the stitching. Amber's dressmaker is Christian Michele. But I know why you love yours so much, because it is so beautiful.

And can I just say, you are adorable! Love the gown, the tiara, the jewelry, and I adore your favors and how you are going to mix the red and white candles and napkins like that. Well everyone, I was wondering about timeframes for Bachelorette parties. I was gonna have mine two weeks before the wedding, but it is gonna start at my SIL house, and that is teh same weekend as her and my brothers anniversary. Then I was gonna have it the week before, but now the Pure Romance Consutant is unavailable...due to a convention...so it's been moved to 8/19/06. This is almost a full month before my wedding!! Is that entirely to soon?

I love your dress and tiera as well, Angel. I think you could do a half updo and that would be more comfortable for you. You could pull it up similar to the way it is in the picture and just do some curls in it. I am the same way. I don't like my hair up (I have a complex with my ears) so I am just doing it half up and curling around the face...

That is the only stance you can take and still keep your sanity. Hell, I had two bridesmaids who didn't even come to the reception. Was I mad, yes. Did I let it bother me, no. Those two also didn't come to my bachlorette party (which was 2 weeks before the wedding because that was the weekend everyone had free) and when they were at my shower they sat alone and didn't do a damn thing.

Have fun with your wedding. Don't let other people or events you can't control get in your way.

OK girls!!! We went to David's Bridal yesterday!!! We had a really nice women by teh name of Lesley!!! She wasn't exactly the most knowledgeable, but she got us all the info we needed and was helpful and attentive!!!! Needless to say...I was shocked!!! Anyways, three of my BM were there. One bought her dress, one ordered her dress and the other is gonna wait till she gets paid and tehn we are going to go to another DB and look for a better selection in her size. She is an 18-20 and they didn't really have what she wanted!!! Anyways, I will post what dresses they did get. I had a pretty good day!! The BM that replaced the one that dropped out on me and I spent the day together. I have known her since I was 9 and we haven't really hung out in years...so it was nice. We went shopping and to lunch and she came back to the apartment with me and met Joel. I even got to show her some of the wedding stuff and some pictures. She was very supportive and happy to see and hear about everything, which was really awesome!!!

And I found as long as Matt had the scanner he was happy....it's like they turn into little boys again and Matt ran around picking up things we didn't even need asking "can I scan this? can I scan this?" Those are super cute!
I have a hard time with the sizes of my photo's too. Sometimes they are just right and sometimes they are massive! I don't know why cause i scanned them all and re sized them all at the same time in photoshop. As soon as they hit photoubcket and here things get messed and i can't seem to resize at all in photobucket. ARGH!
Sorry aboout that rant. I love the invites. They are really pretty and the envelopes being decorated is really neat! Good Job! :D A++

I plan on sending them all out next week, while Joel and I are on vacation. We aren't going anywhere, due to money and all, but we will have time to get them stuffed and done. Wow that's craziness! I can't belive she would actually accuse someone of not liking her child. Sounds like she is super stressed and needs some time to herself. I think maybe just going on your own to find a dress for the shower is a good idea. Just re-schedule lunch and picking up her dress for later in the week or next week. If she gives you greif about cancleing just tell her that your worried she's feeling too stressed about everything and that it can wait till next week when things are a little calmer.
Good Luck with everything!

Well Ladies, I have been going through something lately and thought that I would share. My biological father is in prison and I have not seen him in 8 years. He was not a very good man, a criminla, drug addict, who was physically and emotionally abusive to my mom and brother mostly, but emotionally abusive to me and my sister as well. My sister also disclosed that he sexually abused her. Now, my mother passed away in 2001, so she is no longer with us and I really wish she were so that I could talk to her.

When I was 19 my father got my address and sent me soem letters and a birthday card. I never responded and when I moved he lost track of me. Well in the last couple weeks I have started to receive letters from him again. Letters talking about therapy and health issues and apolgizing and blah blah blah. I really just don't know what to do about this. I don't know what my motehr would want me to do. My siblings want nothing to do with him...well, my older brother, who is from my mom's first marriage, is the only one who knows about the recent letters..and I really ahev no one else who really knows what I went through with him. I was always the spoiled daddy's girl..even though he still screwed me up with the verbal abuse and the drugs...when my father was not in prison. I don't know if I should just ignore him or write him or what. i did write him back one letter telling him how much he f***ed up mine, my mom's, and my sibling's lives and how I don't know how he can forgive himself, much less expect anyone else too, but i don't knwo where to go from here. His whole family is screwed up, so I do not associate with any of them any longer. He is not scheduled for release until 2013 or 2017 and I just don't know what to do!!!! Well anyways that is my issue and thanks for listening (reading)!!!

I'm so sorry for you and your family, Angel. The only thing I can think to tell you is that you have to do what makes you feel comfortable. You can't just let someone in your life partially. It is an all or nothing thing. Do you trust your dad? Do you love your dad? With your dad's history if you had a little girl, would you feel safe letting him around her? You worked in social service, so you have a background with this. In your heart do you believe that he is a changed person deserving of your time and affection? What does Joel think? have you talked with him about it? What did your brother say? (I am asking questions that you don't have to answer outloud, just to yourself to make you think.) It has got to be hard to completely close off a parent from your life. If you think you need help, maybe try some counselling? A neutral party might be better to help you analyze and organize your thoughts.

Wow Angel. I wish I had some magic words to make everything better but I dont. Im so sorry you are having to deal with this right before your wedding. I understand having a crappy childhood, because I did too. Its hard to forgive and forget certain things that happen.
It really boils down to you - Do YOU want this man in your life? Are you ready for him to be? If you think maybe things will be different in the future, then let him know you are working through some issues and when they are worked out, you will contact him. Drugs can make people do awful things that that wouldnt do sober. Id hate for you to burn this bridge, only to regret it later. I would talk to you FH, and your siblings. Also pray about it.
Good luck with everything!

I think I could be a little bit more open to forgiveness if I thought drugs were part of the problem. But he can't blame everything on the drugs. He had choices to make, and he chose a bad path. Right now, he has to straighten himself up now, because he's in prison. But, when he gets out, you have to ask yourself some hard questions. Do you trust that he has changed permanently? Would you trust your children (if you had any) alone with him? If he was released, how likely would it be for him to just go back to his old ways?

You have a lot of soul searching to do, Angel, and I don't envy you one bit. This is going to be a very difficult decision to make, but you are the only one who can make it. Good luck!

I told my younger brother last night on the phone that I was receiving the letters and a summary of what they said. He is probably the one who was damaged the most by my father, since he was mentally, emotionally and physically abused by him his whole life. He was drinking and decided that he wanted his address, so that he could right him himself and tell him how much he screwed him up. I gave him the address, because he has all right to do whatever he wants in this regards, but now I wish that I had never told him, because I know that it is just gonna be an emotional disaster for him. He is definitely the most sensitive and mentally unstable of the kids and I just hope that he can handle the situation, Anyways, I still havn't decided what I wanna do, but I am working on it. Thanks again for all your advice and support ladies!!!!

For music:

First Dance - Remember When-Alan Jackson

I decided to pop into your journal since you just visited mine and noticed that unless you've changed it, we have the same first dance song. It's one of Dan and my absolute favorites. We knew long ago that it would be our wedding song :)

What you're going through with your father is tough. I understand to some extent since I haven't talked to my father more than 3 times since I was three and he too was an addict. I don't know what I would do if he decided to one day contact me. I did write him a letter about 8 years ago telling him how my life was better without him and thanking him for not being a part of my life. I needed to do it at that point. It helped move on with my life (eventhough I never thought about him much in the first place). That might be the case with you. It's not a matter of forgiveness, it's a matter of healing (yours). Hugs to you.

I am taking the 13th-20th off...if I can get that many days...I will have to really talk to the employers...see I am a nanny, so there is no replacement for me...they will have to take time off or get the grandparents to come stay...so we will see!!!

No, not really, my best-friend/MOH joked that she was RSVP'ing her regrets today...but then I told her that I would have to lace her soda with valium and smother her in her sleep (inside joke), so she changed her mind...lol!!!

You're probably right. You know we still have the pony express down here. The mail comes on horseback. Occasionly it comes on chuck wagons and sometimes we have to put the postman up for the night because he is so exhausted from being on the trial. Sometimes it can take forever to get your mail!

We have talked to the Officiant and he said that everything is set, that we just need to figure out exactly what we want him to do for the readings and such and let him know. So I will also be working on that as well!!! I want a ceremony that is slightly religious, but not too much, with readings that we choose that really touch us, and I want to do a hand ceremony...so I just gotta put it all together!!! Then email him!!!

Well Ladies, I have decided that I am going to definitely get Joel's band engraved. I even went to the jeweler and got my ring yesterday and asked about the pricing. Now I just have to figure out what I want to have engraved in it. I want to make it sentimental, but at the same time...I was thinking of putting soemthing in there involving him being my "Lobster", it's just a weird thing we have where we call each other our lobster's!!! LOL!!! Anyways, I thought that might make it extra personal..but I NEED HELP!!! How can I word this and accomplish the sentimental aspect and the "Lobster" aspect of my idea. Plus, you can only engrave so much in a ring, right!!!

Okay..I know these posts have been really scattered, but that seems to be how my mind is working right now. I keep remembering things that I want to update!! So, anywho, I called the bridal shop and my appointment for my alterations is 8/5/06. I am happy to be at that point, but upset, because I was hoping for a little mor etime to lose some weight/inches. So, now what happens if I lose some before the middle of August. Also, when I called I brought up the fact that I am upset about teh fact that i paid to have hollow to hem measurements done for my dress, with full crinoline and 2 1/2 inch heels on, and now my dress is too short for me to wear heels. She said that they should be able to figure something out and will work with me. Well, I would :censored: hope so, since they are the ones, or the designer, that screwed things up...not me!!!

I also wanted to post that I finally got around to booking some rooms for the night of the wedding. I figure that this will be good to have set aside for the people that want to stay close to the site...even though most live within 30-45 minutes!!! I also got Joel and I a jacuzzi suite for the night...even though I am sure that we will just wnat to sleep when we return..lol!!! The hotel has a full service restaurant, so we can have breakfast the next morning. Plus, I got a hotel room for the night before, because I am gonna stay up there and hopfuly a few of my BM's. We are all gonna meet about 9:00 am, have breakfast and head over to the salon for hair and make-up...as soon as I find a salon..lol!!! Then we will head back to teh hotel, where they should be able to get into their rooms to put their stuff there and we will take out dresses and such to the Mansion...where we wil get ready and start the pre-ceremony pics!!!!

Sean and I surprised each other. Before you get your heart set on something, I advise you to call your jeweler and ask how many letter characters you have to work with. I think in Sean's ring I got 20 and in mine he only got 10.
