Anyone else having a Hawaiian theme? Anyone have any informative links on Hawaiian weddings or Luaus? Decorations, invitations, and anything else you can find would be greatly appreciated!
Check out these adorable candles! I think they would make cute and simple centerpieces!

we did one for my graduation party- we got a whole pig roast and we spurged a bit and got two fire pits (50 bucks a piece usually for small ones- can get a huge one for 150)
they really added to the theme.. then we had drinks that represented hawaii and we had sand brought in and put in the backyard - my dad STILL tells me what a bad idea this was - yet it was his :)
We had grilled pineapple on skewers for one of the foods
We also had this really good skewer- it was bacon, chicken and pineapple along with ham and it was grilled with saucy susan (duck sauce) Yummm... Its supposed to have mozerlla cheese added to it but only if you bake them.. not grill
i will call my mom tomorrow and ask her about some more of the stuff.

*GASP!* I wish we could do a hog roast, and I even thought about it but then quickly remembered that 99% of the people attending are going to be Jewish! :( Oh well, I just have to think of Hawaiian dishes that involve no meat!

Our Living Tables are guaranteed to liven up any party. They will chat with your guests in character according to your theme. And if you would like, The Living Tables can even serve your guests wine, hors d'oeurves, dessert or whatever you prefer.

Are they kosher? Many jewish people don't actually keep kosher. For example, I ate bacon this morning. LOL. But regardless, you could still have chicken, fish or beef. The only meat that is not allowed is pork. And I'm sure you know about the whole no mixing meat and dairy... but again, that is only if they keep kosher.

Yup, I know the whole mixing meat with dairy thing is a no-no. And we HAVE to keep Kosher, 'cause we're having the reception at the synagogue... I wonder if we could serve both side by side... I'll have to talk to Larry's Aunt Susie...

At the synagogue you're going to have to follow all the rules (which means not even offering meat and dairy in the same meal). What type of meal will you be serving (brunch, lunch, dinner)? If it's lunch/dinner, it's easy to just not include dairy. If it's brunch, and you were going to have bagels for example, they make non-dairy cream cheese. There are ways to work it out. Do you already have a caterer? Just make sure they know the guidelines.

Our caterer is actually part of the family, although she's not Jewish. Her daughter is, however (she was adopted). So she's pretty keen on the rules. We're going to do a simple lunch.

I'm sure everything will come out fine then. Just find dishes that don't have dairy, that would be the easiest way.

yah unfortunatley this looks like the meal might not be as hawaiian as you would like but just divert attention by using lots of decor hehe
today was a hectic day my mom will look for the decorations and/or pictures tomorrow

CUUUUUUUUTE!!!
We're going with a tropical/Hawaiian feel for our beach wedding (as opposed to shells, starfish and a more nautical angle).
