Hello everyone! I wanted to say hello and introduce myself!
My name is Stacey (although that's pretty obvious huh?) and I'm from around Pittsburgh, PA (LaceyinPgh - it looks like we're "neighbors"!)
I am newly engaged and wanted to see what everyone else is talking about in planning their weddings! FH and I have set our date for February 17, 2007 - I've always wanted a winter wedding by candlelight!
It's great to meet everyone!

I have a town buddy! I have a town buddy! I have a town buddy! :ura1: Not that I am at all easily excitable! What part of town are you from? Have you always lived here or are you a transplant like me? I have a town buddy! Kelli (usahgrad) is relatively close to us too out in Ohio.
By the welcome to the boards. I think you will like it here because all the other girls are fabulous. Just jump in and get involved. Don't forget to start a journal so we can check out all your wedding ideas and steal what we like.

Thanks for the welcomes! I think I will start a journal...it might be nice to read as I got along with my planning. We're still in the early stages of planning (or should I say "I" am in the early stages? :) )
Lacey - I've lived in the Pittsburgh area all of my life. I live near Delmont and love it out there.

I have no idea where Delmont is so I am assuming that it is either North or South of the city since I usually go East or West.
The early stages of trying to figure out what you want or how you want things done are usually the hardest. After that it is just implimenting those ideas. Between March and May of last year I thought I would die working on the early stages, now with 4 months to go it isn't so bad. I am just in the details stuff at this point.
Any ideas on vendors or venues?

Delmont is through Monroeville and through Murrysville. I'm about 20 mins. from Monroeville.
As far as venues - I think we're going to keep it simple and have the reception in the church hall. It's a beautiful room and they allow outside catering and music. Since the wedding will be in February and neither of us care about alcohol, we figured that it would be more convenient for our guests to just be in one place, rather than worrying about that nasty Pittsburgh weather on our wedding day.
My FH's (my gosh, I can't get used to that) grandmother is 91 and is so excited to come to the wedding - she's in a wheelchair - and we thought it would also be easier for her to get there if we stayed in one place. Also, his mother uses a cane and his father uses a walker.
We're trying to keep the wedding small and intimate and I'm sure that I'm going to hurt someone's feelings by not inviting them, but that's just too bad. We don't have the cash to have a huge wedding and I've never wanted that.
As far as vendors, we're just starting to look around. FH is having a heart attack everytime I tell him a quote I got from someone. I told him that he's lucky that I'm frugal and that we're doing a lot of things on our own or my estimate would be twice as high....lol.
I've babbled enough :) I'm thrilled to have found this board!!!

Go ahead Becky.....bust out with the pics....you know you wanna!
Stacey, dont feel bad, Mine is very small too and there are a few people I know are going to be upset that they arent going to be there. We are pretty much just having family because for some reason just about all of our friends either live too far away or have gone all wishy-washy on us!

First of all, welcome to the board! I would be your other neighbor...sort of. I live about an hour away from Pgh around Akron, Ohio.
As far as vendors, we're just starting to look around. FH is having a heart attack everytime I tell him a quote I got from someone. I told him that he's lucky that I'm frugal and that we're doing a lot of things on our own or my estimate would be twice as high....lol.
Your FH (isn't it exciting?) sounds like mine. I just mention Photographer (because that's where most of our wedding budget is going) and he flinches. Here's probably the most invaluable (yes...invaluable, not unvaluable :)) lesson I've learned from these girls; tell your FH what you want him to do. CLEAR PRECISE INSTRUCTIONS! That will help get him as involved as he's going to get. Just make sure you know, detail by detail what you want him to do, or else you might end up with some football themed unity candle or something. :)
I look forward to chatting with you and can't wait to see how everything turns out next Feb. You guys after May this year are lucky, you'll have all kinds of pictures from about a billion weddings to look at for ideas! :)
