There was a thread in here about David's Bridal and some horrors with bridesmaids' dresses...so I steered clear completely. I'm sure they're just fine, and that's where I'm going for my dress for my MoH's wedding, but I was too worried to do it on my own. So in other words, I'm of no use to you for this topic...lol

I went there to try dresses on. I didn't have a bad experience. But the general rule is that you don't get your dress altered there. They are notorious for bad alterations.

When I tried dresses on they had most dresses in most sizes. They only had one that they didn't have in my size for me to try on. They lady was very helpful and I had a nice time. They just didn't have "the one". Although I drove past a DB the other day and they have an awfully nice replica of "the one" now.

My sister went there an tried on some dresses (and she is a full figure girl ;)) so, I do think they keep more sizes on the racks to try. I remember the sales people were rude when we said we were just looking. I have heard lots of bad things about them.

Did you hear they got bought out and are closing?! From what I heard, they are owned by The May Company and that company was bought out by Macy's ... I have a friend that works for Macy's and she said they would be closing, but it could be a couple of years before that actually happens.

I prefer the smaller boutique stores.

I got my dress at Davids (I"m picking it up next week!!!) I had a great experiance. The people were very nice and very helpful. From what I saw they have a very wide variaty of choices in tons of sizes. Much better (in my opinion) then the smaller store that really one have dresses in two or three sizes to try on.

Ive heard good things and bad things about them. BUT...never about the same store, so it may be just some of the stores that have the rude people in them and not all.

I know you can find them under $300 on their website, plus they are always having a $99 sale. Not sure what you would get for $99, but I guess you could always check it out. You never know! Good Luck!

As far as the rude people, I am sure it is not that way at all the stores. They do have a larger selection than some stores and they do advertise that $99 sale alot. I am with Cindy, I wonder what you get for that.

Some of the smaller shops I know of out here have great deals on dresses too. I think it is best (as with any merchant) to just shop around before you buy anything.

WebLaby is right...shop around. You might find the style of dress that you love in one shop and find the exact same dress in a another shop for cheaper.

I know my dress was $350. I did see a couple nice ones that were less then that. And they do have the $99 sales a lot where you get at least $50-$200 off every gown. There BM dress are nice, but too expensive for me. They have nothing under $100. I agree also with having the alterations done else where. They are expensive in that area.
