Sweet potatoes!

I love the way my mom makes them... she uses the canned sweet potatoes/yams (2 or 3 cans I think), brown sugar, cinnamon, orange juice and canned pineapple tidbits (1 can). Drain the potatoes and mash them up. Then add the other stuff, she doesn't actually measure anything. she just puts some, then keeps adding until she is happy with the taste. Bake it, then just before you are ready to serve cover the entire top with the big marshmallows. Put it in the oven on broil (don't close the oven door all the way). WATCH IT! It only takes a few minutes for the marshmallows to get brown and toasty.

My uncle's gf makes this sweet potato casserole stuff. I used to hate sweet potatoes, but this is good. I don't have a recipe for it though.

My grandma does this.. But she mushes up the sweet potato (from the can), then puts a pineapple ring on it.. Then puts the marshmallow in the middle! Its so funny how different people have way different ways to make the same thing..

Mine too! I just bought a 6 pack of stove top from Costco.

My mom always does something weird like put nuts in stuffing... bleh!

Okay so this might seem like a bizarre one...

But get a box of chicken flavored rice, and make it according to directions, add in some mushrooms, and then stir in sour cream.

My ex's parents made that every thanksgiving. It was their version of rice pilaf.

That sounds soooo good! I just might have to attempt this! Well, I might have to find a recipe that tells me how much to put in :) Unfortunately, I'm the only one who likes sweet potatoes, so I might have to make a smaller batch :)

I will ask her, I'm sure she can tell me amounts to put in. I think she just knows the measurements without actually measuring, she has been making this dish as long as I can remember. Then you could just cut the recipe in half.

I LOVE whole sweet potatoes with marshmellows on top. Plus that green bean casserole. The beans and cream of mushroom soup and the crunchy onion bits on top..YUMM-O :)

Don't forget about the recipe ebook we are working on; if you all have any fav holiday recipes to share please PM them to me!

For Thanksgiving we usually have turkey, mash potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans and/or broccoli, deviled eggs and rolls. That is about all I will eat; sometimes there is cranberry sauce and stuffing, but I don't care much for that stuff ;)

I don't do this anymore because I give the dogs turkey too, but I use to baste the turkey in wine; white zinfandel to be exact. I would first brush the turkey with butter and seasonings, then put half a cup of wine inside it and put it in the oven. I use a basting bag; then when it is just about done I take it out of the bag, pour another half cup over the top and finish cooking.

A found a recipe online not too log ago that talked about doing this with white cranberry juice; I may try that this year.
