My husband and I just got married on Friday the 13th (Great day hunh!!!) I shared the big news with my family on Saturday and it went over a lot better then I thought it would. Now my family wants to throw an affair (which by all means is fine)and its coming really fast. My husband and I plan to sit with the family and discuss the details as far as what month, day, where the whole nine yards. My dilemma is, I have my favorite aunt and mom pulling me two ways about who's gonna do what. My aunt is the type who wants to do everything, and mom is the little sister who always gets left out. On this particular situation, what do I do about my family? I love them, but you know how family can get sometimes.................CAN YOU HELP ME?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, CONGRATS!

Well you could try to get them together and tell them that you love both of them and appreciate it that they want to give you guys a party but you want them to work together on it.

Or you could try to get your Aunt alone and tell her that your mom is going to take care of it. Tell her that it would mean alot to your mom ... and that you are sure she will ask her for help in the event that she needs any.

I don't know you probably know their personalities better ... It is hard when family makes things hard like this. I had a similar problem when I got married, we had several people saying they wanted to give us a party ... we ended up just canceling the whole thing.

Anyway, I hope it works out well for you.

Definite congrats! And don't worry about that whole silly 13 thing! 13's my lucky number! We'll be getting married on May 13th (not a Friday the 13th, but our anniversaries will be...lol).

As far as your family goes, I really can't chip in that much help. I banned my aunt from wedding plans...although, weblady's ideas did sound good to me. If I hadn't banned her, I would have made sure she knew how important it was to my mother and that, chances were, my mother would ask for her help (she is anyways...did I mention I BANNED my aunt? Lol).

Good luck and again, CONGRATS!
